Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train-Chapter 45 - 41 Fierce Battle
Chapter 45: Chapter 41 Fierce Battle
"Spit it out if you’ve got something to say!" By now, Qian Yu was completely on the edge of exploding.
"What’s in it for that old fart to screw us all over???"
Hearing this, Qian Yu’s grip on the walkie-talkie tightened suddenly, a frown creasing his brow. His first thought had been that Tang Hai was trying to set a cat amongst the pigeons, using the air raid siren to get all the survivors killed, so he could then easily pick up countless pieces of equipment and supplies.
But thinking over it now, if everyone ran off and died outside, there was absolutely no need for him to have all the survivors run to his shelter. He could just wait quietly for everyone to die off before coming out to reap the benefits, since everyone would be trapped in the fog anyway.
As he thought this, the frowns on Qian Yu’s face grew deeper, and a more terrifying thought suddenly struck him.
Click!
Qian Yu trembled all over, his eyes glazed over as he shouted into the walkie-talkie, "Fuck his mother, that son of a bitch wants to use us all as bait to lure the monsters away so he can make his own escape!!"
Everyone in the team felt a chill in their hearts upon hearing this.
Gathering all the survivors to attract the monsters in the fog and then seizing the chance to escape—what a ruthless plan!
Those stone bollards and barriers at the entrance were all just a smokescreen—their real purpose was to make them run!
"Motherfucker!"
Qian Yu swore through clenched teeth, fully grasping the situation now. In a fit of rage, he made a snap decision, "Let’s go, turn around. We’ll give them a taste of their own medicine! Even if I die, I won’t let that son of a bitch have an easy time!"
Though his words were fierce, Qian Yu was actually very clever.
He understood that the further they ran, the more they would be doing Tang Hai a favor. Plus, with it being nighttime and the danger exacerbated by the dense fog, their chances of survival were slim to none.
But if they turned back, they might catch Tang Hai off guard. The more chaotic the scene, the greater their chance of finding an opportunity to break out!
In any case, they weren’t going to play into those people’s hands and lead the monsters away for them.
Screech screech screech!!!
At the command, all vehicles simultaneously began to turn around at the junction.
Other teams following behind them were thrown into disarray at this sight. Some scrambled to follow suit, while others fled haphazardly into the streets, each looking out for themselves in the face of disaster.
Elsewhere, as the wave of zombies was led into the town by the convoy, the station had already turned into a gory spectacle.
At that moment, a freight electrical train slowly emerged from the fog into the platform, dragging several passenger cars full of various supplies. The doors opened, and a dozen gunmen, already laying in ambush with weapons ready, stepped off and began to clear out the remaining zombies in the station.
Rat-a-tat-tat!
From another direction, several military jeeps arrived, these people appearing well-prepared as they started cleaning up the battle site as soon as they disembarked.
Tang Hai and Feng Yuming, leading the group, emerged from a small lift from some secret underground facility.
Looking at the bloody courtyard, Tang Hai’s expression turned anxious. He hurriedly ordered others, "You guys, see what there is to take, get those cars loaded quickly."
"Move, fast!!"
The locomotive towed several flatbed carriages with hinges designed for transporting vehicles.
In no time, everyone was busy at work. Tang Hai orchestrated the loading of the supply vehicles onto the train. With his past experience as the North Bay Station’s stationmaster, he managed the operation very efficiently and in an orderly manner.
"Where are those two?" Feng Yuming asked a few of his subordinates.
"Couldn’t find them." A few gunmen who had entered the shelters to sweep reported, "Brother Feng, we’ve taken care of the useless bunch inside."
To convince the other teams, Tang Hai had specially arranged for some of the elderly, women, and children from his own team to stay inside the shelters, just to ease everyone’s suspicions.
Anyway, Tang Hai and Feng Yuming were hiding in another storage facility, with their men divided into two groups, lying in wait, all to take advantage of the fog and slaughter a batch of people while chaos ensued, and escape by stealth!
Upon hearing the report, Tang Hai turned to Feng Yuming.
"Couldn’t find them? Did they follow the others out?"
Feng Yuming glanced at the wide-open shelter doors, his eyes flickering, "I’ll go in and take a look."
"Alright!"
But just as they were preparing to pull off a mass evacuation in a great escape, a roaring engine noise coming from afar caused Tang Hai’s complexion to drastically change!
"Not good, Yu Ming! Those bastards have circled back!" Tang Hai bellowed, prompting everyone to swiftly turn their guns around.
Boom!
The giant truck’s bright orange headlights pierced the fog, its windshield and snowplow covered in zombie limbs and severed parts, as it burst forth once more into the station!
Rat-a-tat-tat!
Feng Yuming’s men immediately opened fire, while the Black Serpent Team, fueled by rage, charged straight in, extending their gun barrels out the windows to return fire!
"Not a single one left, wipe them all out for me!"
Qian Yu shouted angrily into the walkie-talkie.
"Yuming, be careful!!" Seeing that things were taking a turn for the worse, Tang Hai also hurriedly ordered his subordinates to open fire.
And the other freelance teams following behind also rushed in, with Lou Ye and Lou Shasha driving a pickup truck into the slope.
"Bro, they’ve got a train!"
Sha Sha, sitting in the passenger seat, yelled pointing ahead. Lou Ye floored the accelerator, ready to charge straight onto the railway tracks, but at that moment, over a dozen gunmen from Tang Hai’s side began to fire, bullets pouring down, forcing him to swerve the steering wheel and take a detour into the courtyard.
Ahh!
Zombies and Zombie Dogs viciously pounced forward. Lou Shasha quickly pulled a modified mechanism from under the seat. Immediately, several spikes shot out from the side of the pickup, clearing off the Zombies clinging to the vehicle.
"Bro, drive carefully, I’ll look for Sister KIKI and the others!"
In an instant, two groups began to exchange fire furiously, and at the same time, countless Zombies and Zombie Dogs continued to emerge from the surrounding dark fog, plunging the scene into utter chaos!
When it came to firepower, the Black Serpent Team caught Tang Hai’s side off guard with their overwhelming numbers, and the situation quickly became one-sided. Feng Yuming also fell to the ground amidst the chaos of gunshots.
"Trying to play tricks on me? I saw right through your bullshit a long time ago!"
Qian Yu stepped forward and stomped on Feng Yuming’s chest. His eyes were cold as he lifted his pistol and ruthlessly blew Feng’s head off with a shot!
Bang!
Afterward, he looked up and saw that Tang Hai had already loaded many vehicles onto the train, immediately understanding the opponent’s intentions.
"Thinking of running?! No chance! Eagle, take him out for me!"
To stop Tang Hai, Qian Yu was about to get into his car and charge forward, but seeing his team being slowly overwhelmed by the zombie horde around them, he began to consider that if he could seize Tang Hai’s train to break out, perhaps that could offer a slim chance of survival. Compared to life, any other supplies were simply trivial!
Splat!
Just as Qian Yu was about to get in the car, a dull piercing sound suddenly echoed from behind. He whirled around, only to find Eagle facing him, his chest pierced by a black claw, spitting out blood bubbles, his eyes wide with terror, unable to utter a sound.
"Who did you say you wanted to take out?!"
A hoarse voice sounded from behind Eagle. The black claw slowly retracted, and a face with a ferocious smile appeared in front of Qian Yu.
Feng Yuming!
At this moment, one of Feng Yuming’s hands had transformed into a black insect-like claw, half of his face was sunken in, and two spikes had sprouted from the top of his head. His semblance was no longer that of a ’human’!
"You!!!"
Faced with this scene, Qian Yu’s mind went blank. Hadn’t he just blown this man’s head off?
It was only then that he realized that this guy was actually a Superpower User!
Bang bang bang!
Qian Yu reflexively drew his pistol and emptied the magazine, but saw Feng Yuming raise that black carapace-like claw to shield his face and chest. The bullets hitting it sparked like they were striking steel, not touching Feng in the slightest.
"Quick, take him down!"
Qian Yu panicked, hustling the gunmen around him to shoot at Feng Yuming together.
Ratatat!
A burst of gunfire, but none hit Feng Yuming.
Qian Yu stared in disbelief; he felt a chill in his chest. Turning around, he saw that the fat leader of the team, who had been behind him, was now pointing a dark gun muzzle at him, his eyes shadowy and ominous.
Bang!
A bullet hit Qian Yu between the eyes, his vision darkened, and he fell with a gaze full of unwillingness.
Simultaneously, dozens of his team members who were fighting Zombies suddenly suffered an ambush of gunfire from another force. With their leader dead, they quickly fell into dire straits.
Feng Yuming looked at the fat man with a twisted sneer on his face, "Just like we discussed, leave half, and you can take the rest."
Bang bang bang!
The fat man shot down a few Zombies. Now pale, his eyes filled with panic as he looked at Feng Yuming, he shakily told his subordinates,
"Get in the car, let’s pull out!"
They had already formed an alliance in secret; if they killed the members of the Black Serpent Team, the fat man could take half of their weapons and equipment.
Facing the overwhelming zombie horde, the fat man didn’t know how likely it was for him to survive the night. However, seeing Feng Yuming, transformed into a monster, finish off Eagle, he had no choice but to gamble it all.
