Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 184: The Impostors
A chilling cold surged from the depths of Lin Xian’s heart!
That eerie smile sent shivers down his spine, making his hairs stand on end.
No time to shout!
As the woman slowly opened her bloodstained mouth, lined with dense, razor-sharp teeth, Lin Xian reacted instinctively—stepping forward to shield KIKI while frantically summoning an Ice Wall and Iron Gate!
In the blink of an eye, the icy barrier materialized in the air, encircling the rapidly thrusting tentacle. Its razor-sharp tip was mere inches from piercing Lin Xian’s heart.
Then—
Boom!
A piercing sonic boom shattered the corridor’s silence. A black spear shot past Lin Xian’s vision, streaking through the air like a thunderbolt and piercing straight through the eerie woman’s forehead.
"NEAAHHH!!"
Before she could even scream, she was pinned against the corridor wall, skewered like an insect.
THUD!
The black spear vibrated with a metallic hum, its sheer force embedding it deep into the reinforced concrete wall.
Crack—
Lin Xian’s Ice Wall and the iron-clad barrier slammed onto the ground, their echoes reverberating through the hallway.
"Ah!" KIKI gasped, clutching onto Lin Xian as he instinctively pulled her back. Regaining their composure, they turned around to face the corridor’s far end—where two figures had appeared.
A man and a woman.
The man was middle-aged, broad-shouldered, and sporting a buzz cut. He wore an exoskeleton power suit, glowing with a faint blue luminescence, still poised from his recent throw. The woman beside him was younger, holding a large-caliber firearm at the ready.
Bzzz—
The man flicked his wrist, and a mechanical hum resonated through the air. The black spear embedded in the wall trembled, letting out the whir of an engine.
With a swift motion, the spear dislodged from the corpse’s face and flew back into the man’s hand.
Lin Xian narrowed his eyes. “Magnetically controlled weapon?”
That spear undoubtedly housed some kind of precision magnetic propulsion system, enabling dynamic control within short distances. Such technology was usually found in Starfleet battle drones and sentinel systems—but seeing it integrated into a melee weapon was bizarre, almost absurd.
“Be careful, kid,” the man spoke in a deep voice. “These aren’t just Eerie Entities—they can peel off human skin and disguise themselves. Apart from being mute, you’d never tell them apart.”
Impostors?
Lin Xian glanced at the impaled female impostor, his eyes flashing with unease. “Who are you people?”
Before the man could answer—

BOOM!
The projection room’s iron door buckled and exploded outward.
A ghastly elongated hand shot forth, grabbing the middle-aged man and slamming him against the wall with brutal force.
RATATATATA!
The woman reacted instantly, raising her rifle and unleashing a barrage of bullets at the grotesque White Inverted Monster that emerged.
“Urgh!”
Pinned against the wall, the man’s power armor groaned under the impact, sparks flying as it absorbed the otherwise lethal blow. With a grunt, he twisted his body, flipping his spear and plunging it into the creature’s thick hide.
"NEAAHH!!"
The monster howled, jaws gaping wide, swiping its clawed hand to knock away the black spear. The man landed, rolling swiftly to retrieve his weapon and regain distance.
BZZZTT!
A brilliant arc of electricity burst through the corridor, slamming into the creature’s face.
The air crackled, the acrid scent of burning flesh spreading through the hallway.
“Electrokinesis?” The man’s expression shifted.
Deep in the corridor, Lin Xian stood firm.
Behind him, KIKI levitated into the air, her Psychokinesis surging. With a flick of her wrist, she snatched the spear-impaled monster with invisible force and, with a savage motion, slammed its head against the wall—hard!
CRACK!
The creature’s skull dragged across the corridor, leaving behind a black blood-streaked gouge as the concrete and rebar were torn apart.
"NEA—AHHH!!"
With an unnatural twist, the White Inverted Monster rotated its head a full 360 degrees. Its freakishly elongated hands sprouted ten sharp bone spikes—before whipping out at Lin Xian and the armored man from opposite directions!
"Look out!"
The man lunged—tackling his female teammate just as the bone spikes ripped through the wall behind them.
CRACK!
Before the monster could recover, KIKI clenched her teeth and slammed its skull into the floor—hard.
“Lin Xian!”
Hovering midair, KIKI gritted her teeth, exerting all her telekinetic might to suppress the struggling monster.
Despite being pinned, the White Monster contorted its body—arms stretching sideways—claws swiping at both Lin Xian and the armored man!
SWOOSH!
A silver flash swept through the corridor.
An intense air pressure wave followed.
The White Monster’s waist suddenly bore a gaping, horizontal slash!
Backlash!
Lin Xian landed, gripping his GK03 Electric Blade. The confined space restricted the skill’s movement, but he’d still landed a direct hit!
Yet—before he could catch his breath—
The creature’s waist wound didn’t spill blood.
Instead—countless black tendrils slithered out, lunging straight at Lin Xian!
FWOOOSH!
A sudden gust roared past.
The mechanical hum of an engine flared up.
The middle-aged man shot forward, black spear in hand, lunging into the tendril mass like a thunderclap.
SHUNK!
The spear impaled the White Monster’s skull, driving it deep into the floor.
Yet the creature still twitched.
The man’s eyes turned ice-cold.
He twisted the spear—
WHIRRR!
The spearhead expanded—morphing into a razor-edged umbrella shape—
Before exploding open like a blooming flower.
BOOM!
The monster’s head was obliterated, black blood splattering the walls.
The claws froze mid-swing—before crashing onto the ground, motionless.
Pant… pant…
The four survivors stood in silence, glaring at the corpse, breath heavy.
SCHLK!
With a sharp pull, the man retrieved his spear, shaking off the blood before retracting the umbrella blades.
A wisp of black smoke dissipated into the air.
"Yeah," the man muttered. "That one’s dead for good.”
Then—casually—he bent down, plucked a Level-2 Eerie Blood Crystal from the corpse’s remains, and pocketed it.
He turned to Lin Xian.
"Electrokinesis. Psychokinesis. Not bad. Guess I underestimated you two."
Extending a hand, he introduced himself:
“Ding Qing. Duan Min. King Kong Convoy.”
“Lin Xian.”
Lin Xian shook the offered hand, his gaze lingering on Ding Qing’s power armor.
That was a TRP-4th Gen Special Industrial Exoskeleton—incredibly expensive. Unlike military models, it boasted extreme power output and multiple expansion slots. Ding Qing’s suit had been heavily modified for combat, making it even deadlier.
“Hey!”
KIKI’s voice snapped them out of their thoughts.
She stomped over, glaring. “You just pocketed that crystal without even asking?”
Ding Qing barely glanced at her.
Instead—he strode to the fallen impostors.
Raising his spear umbrella, he stabbed their chests—
Before extracting two wriggling, white-tailed parasites from within.
Without a word, he tossed two glass vials to Lin Xian.
"Saved your lives just now. With these two parasites, I’ll take one crystal—seems fair, right?"
