Chapter 1207: You Should Really Go Out Less

In an office at the center of Atlas City’s compound...

General Maxwell Kane listened to the young man’s report, his brow slowly knitting tighter.

"You’re sure those flying mutant beasts were at least Tier 9?"

"Yes, sir. Based on their speed, they were at least Tier 9."

"And after you fired on them, they didn’t keep flying toward the compound?"

"...Yes. That’s what confuses me too." The young man looked genuinely baffled. "With how vicious mutant beasts are, if we attacked them, they should’ve come for revenge. But they turned around and flew off."

He hesitated, then added, "But... there’s something else, and I’m not sure how to say it."

"What is it?"

"Some of our people got a blurry look through binoculars. It seemed like... there were people on the birds’ backs."

"People?!" Maxwell’s eyes widened.

"Yes, but it was too far. We couldn’t see clearly, so I can’t confirm it."

Maxwell fell into thought. After a long moment, he lifted his head again, staring at the young man.

"Go check if anyone entered the compound today from outside areas."

"Yes, sir!"

The young man nodded and hurried out.

Meanwhile...

Ethan and the others wandered through the compound while asking around for the Void Realm’s location.

The Void Realm was famous in Atlas City. Almost everyone had heard there was a "special spatial world."

But nobody seemed to know where it actually was. The location was clearly locked down tight by the government.

After asking for ages, Ethan’s group came away with nothing useful—just gossip and random rumors. It was honestly less helpful than what General Cross had told them.

But it made sense. A place like that would be heavily sealed off. Ordinary people not knowing was normal. General Cross had connections in Atlas City—of course he’d be able to dig up more.

"Looks like we’ll have to go through the top," Ethan said quietly, thinking it through.

"Let’s head toward the compound’s central district and take a look."

In most compounds, the center was where the power structure sat. If anyone knew where the Void Realm entrance was, it’d be someone there.

They started making their way toward the center.

Atlas City’s compound was so huge it wasn’t a quick walk. Even just getting to the "central area" took time.

After more than half an hour, they finally reached a district packed with luxurious buildings.

But soldiers were posted outside all of them, and it looked like regular people weren’t allowed anywhere near.

Ethan was debating whether to just use Teleportation to slip inside and grab someone to ask when a group of young people suddenly came out.

Ethan’s eyes lit up.

One look told him exactly what they were—rich kids from powerful families. The kind who absolutely would know where the Void Realm was.

But when the group got closer, a woman suddenly cried out—

"It’s you?!"

Everyone turned, confused, toward the voice.

Ethan felt a flicker of familiarity, but he couldn’t place her right away.

Sean leaned in and whispered by his ear, "Captain, I think that woman’s one of the two Atlas City people we saw back in Clearford City."

"Oh..." With that, Ethan remembered. "Right. Her."

One of the two idiots.

"Victoria, you know them?" a teenage boy asked.

"Know them?" Victoria sneered. "How could I not? Didn’t my dad send Julian and me to Clearford City before? That’s where I ran into him. This guy was cocky as hell—didn’t take us seriously at all."

"What? He didn’t take you and Julian seriously?" Someone sounded offended on her behalf. "That’s insane."

"Victoria, why didn’t you kill them back then?"

"Uh..." Victoria’s expression stiffened with embarrassment. "My dad told us to keep a low profile when we were out. And it was General Cross’s territory—we had to give him some face."

She narrowed her eyes at Ethan. "But these guys actually dared come to Atlas City. Victoria—want us to help you get revenge?"

"We can teach them a lesson," Victoria said, but there was hesitation in her tone. "Still... they might be kind of strong. We should call more people."

She didn’t feel secure. Back then, she’d heard General Cross say Ethan was already Tier 9. Who knew how strong he was now?

Even though she was Tier 9 herself now, she still felt uneasy.

"How strong can some backwater people be?" a guy scoffed. "We’ve got so many Tier 8s and Tier 9s here—are we really supposed to be scared of a few outsiders?"

"Exactly. If he dared look down on Victoria, we’ve gotta show him what happens."

Victoria thought it over. This was Atlas City’s compound—basically her home turf. What was there to be scared of?

She turned to Ethan with a cold sneer. "You’re pretty damn arrogant. Back in Clearford City, you actually dared call us idiots. Say it again. Go on—try me."

"Idiot," Ethan said obligingly.

Hey, she asked for it. And honestly, there was something wrong with this woman’s brain. She was just plain dumb.

"You...!"

"You still dare—?!" Victoria’s face flushed red with rage. She jabbed a finger at Ethan and screamed, "Break his mouth for me!"

"Gladly!"

A bunch of young men immediately lit up, grinning like they’d been waiting for permission. They started swaggering toward Ethan with ugly looks on their faces.

"Stop!"

Right then, a squad of soldiers in uniform ran over.

The instant the rich kids saw them, they all jumped, then backed off and stood there behaving like model citizens.

"Ryan, what are you doing here?" Victoria put on a sweet smile and looked at the young officer leading them.

"Official business," Ryan Kane said flatly.

Then he turned to Ethan and the others. "Did you enter the compound today?"

Ethan nodded. "Yeah. Not long ago."

Ryan narrowed his eyes slightly. "Where did you come from?"

"Ryan, I know this!" Victoria cut in from behind him. "They’re definitely from Clearford City."

"How do you know?" Ryan glanced at her.

"Because Julian and I ran into them when we went to Clearford City before. Ryan, you have to do something—he bullied me there! And just now he called me an idiot!" She put on a pitiful, wronged look.

"We’ll talk about your issue later." Ryan ignored her and looked back at Ethan. "Would you care to join me inside?"

Ethan studied him for a beat, then nodded. "Sure."

This guy clearly wasn’t low-ranking. There was a good chance he knew where the Void Realm entrance was.

"Ryan, what do you mean?" Victoria’s smile cracked. "He called me an idiot, and you’re still being polite to him?"

Ryan frowned and looked at her. "With your personality, you should really go out less. Otherwise, sooner or later you’re going to cause a real problem."

After that, he didn’t bother with her anymore. He just led Ethan and the others inside.

Ethan glanced back at Victoria and smiled.

"He’s right, you know."

If Ethan hadn’t wanted to avoid making a huge scene the moment he arrived, he would’ve slapped her to death on the spot.

"You...!"

Victoria pointed at Ethan, teeth clenched so hard her jaw trembled. "Just you wait! You come to Atlas City and you still dare act this cocky!"

Then she stopped heading out entirely, spun around, and stormed back toward her family’s place.
