Apocalypse Lord-Chapter 40 - 38: Eternal Fierce Sun
Ota’s heart sank to the bottom.
Although their group’s power armor was equipped with a full set of combat systems, in front of the King of Angels, they were like infants wielding wooden sticks.
"Have you become a member of the Ouroboros too, Mr. Justice?"
Ota struggled to lift the turret, speaking in a rough voice.
The atmosphere in the casino suddenly turned icy cold.
The gamblers froze in place, as they watched the old man leisurely sip the spicy liquor, then tense his face toward everyone:
"Bullshit!"
He said sharply, "You muscle-brained brat, your words are really unpleasant. Who would want to join that stench of (birds chirping and flowers blooming)?"
Ota was stunned, sprayed too much to dare retort.
He shielded his team, cautiously saying, "Then why have you dragged us into the realm of justice?"
"Ah, when will young people realize that the elderly need companionship?"
The old man sighed, putting down his wine glass, complaining to the giant in front of him, "It’s really too lonely for me to be here all alone..."
Giant Squad: ...
"Just kidding, don’t take it so seriously."
Justice blinked, tapping the back of the card lightly with his fingers, "In fact, the person I intend to meet is not you, but..."
He looked at the empty space next to everyone, "The audience attracted by the tragic fate of the giants."
The angel’s truth echoed out, and in the shocked gaze of the Giant Squad, a vague figure appeared out of thin air, with an amazed look, curiously inspecting the surroundings.
Vera and Sami backed away together, Priest Ansel flinched, barely resisting the urge to swing his massive hammer.
He had already sensed something was wrong! The vanished Holy Spirits had not been summoned elsewhere, but were alive and swallowed whole!
"May I invite you for a drink?"
The Justice Angel smiled at Lin Lan.
Lin Lan nodded and sat opposite the old man. Now he was no longer surprised by these miraculous old men who could find him.
Then, the King of Angels waved to the confused giants:
"Alright, get on with your work, my realm is temporarily merged with the Sun Divine Kingdom, so if you want to establish that useless base station, hurry up."
He said with disdain, "The time I can buy is not much, those Ouroboros maggots have already taken root in the Sun Divine Kingdom, oh damn... those bastards are gnawing at my wings..."
"Thank you for your help."
Ota decisively gave the order to his teammates, "Vera, fully deploy the armor mapping module!"
The Giant Squad began to get busy.
Pieces of uniquely shaped component modules fell off Vera’s power armor, then were reassembled into a new form by the other three.
Vera’s upper body was exposed as the armor disassembled.
Her red hair hung down, Vera was already sweating profusely. Wearing black tight-fitting clothes, the sweat refracted dazzling light in the lamp, dripping across her exaggerated curves.
"At least restrain your gaze..."
Lin Lan reminded the old man in front of him with a helpless expression.
He scrutinized the old man’s attire, his tone somewhat peculiar, "An angel representing ’Justice’ actually soaking in a casino for fun?"
"Ahem... Angels also need to keep up with the times."
The Justice Angel reluctantly withdrew his gaze, patting the back of his female companion’s hand, causing her to emit a silver-bell-like giggle and twist her waist gracefully as she departed. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He sat upright, actively pouring a glass of spirits for Lin Lan.
"What do you want to talk to me about?"
Lin Lan asked eagerly, holding back too many questions in his heart.
Justice was silent for a while.
He slowly swirled the wine glass in his hand, the crystal glass reflecting the faces of the gamblers around them.
People rejoiced, people cried, people enjoyed, people suffered, the gleaming chips rolled, collided, fell on the table, endlessly.
They were once heroes who believed in justice, wearing wreaths.
Their endless lifespans twisted them into who they are today.
"I just want to beg you one thing."
The old man downed the spirits in one go, exhaling a murky breath, whispering, "Please kill me in the future, save me."
"Kill you?"
Lin Lan pointed to himself, "Me?"
Take a look at the giant brawny guys not far away. Those fierce folks, who were ever so fierce when bombing the Holy Spirits, are now obedient like grandsons, quietly working without glancing over here.
Without a doubt, this old man before him was terrifyingly strong and also very good at joking.
"You don’t need to underestimate yourself."
The Justice Angel seemed to have guessed Lin Lan’s thoughts, "I have enough patience to wait for your redemption, and there’s always going to be someone to help you."
He smiled at another seat, "Right? You, the Great Sun, who shelters all living beings?"
Lin Lan turned his head in astonishment, not knowing when another ’person’ had sat there.
Lin Lan couldn’t even discern his shape. It was an abstract symbol composed of concepts like stars, flames, light, heat, rebirth.
The Eternal Fierce Sun had always been watching here.
All this information poured into Lin Lan’s mind at once, as if he was thrown from the icy cosmos into an endless fiery hell, every cell in his body evaporating with screaming!
In reality, just one glance could make you explode.
[Rational threshold stabilized for you]
The system panel popped up at this moment, Lin Lan shook his head, his eyes gradually regaining clarity.
The Sun Incarnation merely sat there intently, looking at Lin Lan, God’s words exploding in everyone’s heart with millions of rays:
"After the Giant Race successfully ram their Ark into me, you can prioritize excavating my Divine Kingdom and remains."
With a thud.
The distant physician Sami was already foaming at the mouth and fainted, the actions of the other three stalled too.
"Continue your work." The Eternal Fierce Sun glanced over at the Giant Squad.
Two more thuds.
This time it was Vera and Ansel who fainted.
"Alright, alright, don’t speak yet." Lin Lan quickly interjected, "There’s only one left working now..."
Only the most resilient Captain Ota stood still, motionless!
After a while, the power armor still didn’t move.
Lin Lan: ...
"In the original history, these lads were supposed to die on this survey mission, but your appearance interfered with history’s trajectory."
The Justice Angel picked up a wine glass, laughing heartily, "To avoid alerting the Ouroboros, I’ll leave the souls of this Giant Squad to you."
"I have no objection." The Sun Incarnation nodded as well.
"What exactly is this Ouroboros you keep mentioning? Those Immortals dwelling in the Divine Kingdom?"
Lin Lan instinctively frowned.
"Those guys are merely pawns deluded by the Ouroboros."
The King of Angels shook his head, his tone becoming solemn, "You will eventually encounter the real Ouroboros, and before that, we will do whatever it takes to buy you time."
