Apocalypse Lord-Chapter 78 - 76: Fallen Star
The buzzing of the insect swarm was like the frenzied drumbeat at a party.
The giant searchlight of the moth guards locked firmly onto Lin Lan and his companions, pouring down a glaring white light that almost blinded them.
Immediately after, it adjusted the remote weapons on its sides and aimed at Lin Lan, the dark barrels flashing with terrifying brilliance!
Bam! Bam!
Eleanor raised her revolver, firing two shots in quick succession. The special silver bullets streaked through the night sky, accurately hitting the guard’s cannon barrel.
A fiery explosion erupted violently in the air!
The moth guard let out a pained screech and began to wobble in the air. The body at the cannon site was blown to bits, with deep green poisonous blood seeping from the shattered steel.
It pulled back slightly, its screeching filled with a sense of summoning and hatred.
Meanwhile, in everyone’s view, small moth drones quickly gathered at the wound of the fortress guard, spewing iron filings and mucus to swiftly repair its injuries.
"That big thing can repair itself with those small mechanical moths..."
Lucia muttered, her face turning a bit pale.
"Can you handle it, Eleanor?"
Lin Lan stared intently at the wobbling fortress airship, and suddenly, a bold idea flashed through his mind.
"Not sure, that thing looks more dangerous than the Empire’s warships."
Eleanor spread her black wings behind her, turning her head, her crimson vertical pupils reflecting the boy’s pale face: "But I can try for you."
In the moment when the gray-haired boy pulled Lucia back from the whirlpool of death, Eleanor was certain she hadn’t misjudged him!
Lin Lan nodded, his eyes calmer than ever.
"Bai, same old rules, our spawning point is the absolute safe zone."
He spoke gravely to the bionic maid beside him: "This time, you take Lucia and go first."
Without hesitation, Bai bent down, scooping the petite witch into her arms, and skillfully slinging a bulging large package over her shoulder.
Absolute rationality was Bai’s greatest strength.
Before Lucia could let out a cry, the girl with twin A’s in strength and speed had already leaped dozens of meters away, lightly jumping down the familiar path.
Meanwhile, the Doragon people took flight on black wings.
Eleanor hovered in midair, facing the dense swarm of moths, her eyes filled with a ferocious gleam. She took a deep breath, and then—
"Roar!!"
The dragon’s roar shook the colors of the stars, layers of invisible sound waves spreading rapidly, the larval drones swaying and struggling to maintain their forms.
The moth guard watched the formidable enemy before it with vigilance.
In an instant, rolling black clouds blanketed the sky over the Lower City District, the long-still bustling city in the starry sky actually brewing a rumbling thunderstorm.
The Black-winged Calamity Master was summoning the storm!
It was Lin Lan’s first time witnessing the Doragon race’s abilities and the rugged, violent combat style of the King of Pirates.
The roaring lightning between the clouds elongated the city’s shadows, and heavy rain poured down in torrents.
The drone swarm was forcefully blown apart by the fierce storm, crashing to the ground in all directions, sparks flying everywhere!
Eleanor traveled freely between the neon and starlight, the storm embracing the Doragon people’s wings, the dark coat of the King of Pirates flapping wildly in the rainy night.
The moth guard tore through the rain curtain, screaming angrily as it charged!
She raised her gun once more.
She pulled the trigger!
Both beasts bared their fangs at each other! The special bullet shattered the back shell of the guard airship, yet Eleanor was sent flying by the twenty-meter-long steel construct!
She was slammed into the side of a building, the impact thunderous, while on the other side, the remaining moth drones gathered at the fortress guard’s wound, quickly repairing the damage to the insect body.
"The power from the stars is endless, and your subordinates are merely cornered beasts."
A pure and ethereal voice suddenly rang in Lin Lan’s ears.
He turned his head to find all the holographic images in the city replaced by the figure of Lady Martina.
It unfurled its butterfly wings and observed the movements of the Lower City District indifferently. Meanwhile, more and more malevolence was awakening and spreading in the Upper City.
Lin Lan sighed softly.
As the exploration of the Space Ladder deepened, the difficulty increased exponentially, and the star swarm would never foolishly wait for them to loot the dungeon.
Lucia’s ’death’ only slightly hastened this outcome.
Fortunately, the intact machinery parts from the Mechanical Servants factory had been packed and taken away, and the value of the Lower City District had been almost completely looted.
Eleanor secured quite a bit of time, Bai and Lucia should have successfully returned to the real world.
Although Lin Lan’s physical recovery was minimal, it was sufficient...
Lin Lan ignored Martina’s nonsense and instead focused on the injured moth guard, his gaze flickering.
It was getting increasingly difficult to stay in this dungeon; before leaving, he had to score a major haul!
Lin Lan shakily stood up.
Above him, the moth guard issued a venomous screech, having never been in such a sorry state since receiving the blessing of the Monarch!
It decided to make its prey die in the most painful way possible!
The next moment, from the shattered building surface, a high boot suddenly kicked away the debris, and a tall figure once again appeared in the moth’s compound eyes.
The storm and rain clustered around the Doragon, Eleanor wiped the shallow bloodstain from her cheek, her gaze growing colder and more violent.
Her arms were trembling slightly.
The Celestial Calamity was indeed hard to deal with. Eleanor aimed to strike what seemed to be its fragile wings, but even with the ’Philosopher’s Stone’, the moth’s colorful wings were sturdier than expected, almost impossible to shake.
The swarm’s wings were a supreme blessing from the Starry Monarch.
At that moment, Eleanor suddenly heard Lord Roland’s shout.
"Eleanor, find a way to throw me onto its back!"
She looked down and saw the grey-haired youth standing in place, waving his hands towards her.
Eleanor’s eyes lit up, she spread her black wings and dived down without hesitation, grabbing him around the waist into her embrace.
Lin Lan only felt his body lighten, soon he was being held aloft in the sky.
He tried hard to open his eyes in the spinning world, noticing the storm around Eleanor was noticeably more docile, her heroic face close at hand.
Lin Lan involuntarily twisted twice.
His expression was a bit peculiar, he tried to speak against the wind: "Can’t you use a different method?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Sorry, I’ve never practiced holding someone like this before, just bear with it."
The Pirate Leader’s wanton laughter echoed in Lin Lan’s ears, Eleanor felt great, like a black meteor approaching the moth guard in the sky!
Watching the approaching filth, a nameless terror and anxiety spread within the moth guard’s consciousness.
In that instant, it nearly exhausted all its ammo reserves!
The storm’s scale became more and more exaggerated, with the raging light and unextinguishable neon intertwining, dazzling starlight exploding amidst the downpour!
Yet Eleanor deftly and calmly passed through the expanding light sphere.
The Doragon swept past the moth, none of the cosmic colors even touched her robust long tail.
Her hands were now empty, but on the spine of the airborne Fortress, the grey-haired youth clutching a dining knife had already gripped tightly onto the moth’s colorful wings.
Lin Lan bore a malicious, evil smile on his face.
Like to use high beams? Like to chase people? Like to recruit minions? Like to fire light cannons?
I’ve tolerated this little boss long enough!!!
Lin Lan tightly grasped the colorful fluff of the wing’s surface with one hand, holding the dining knife in the other hand, then, slashed with all his might!
Like slicing through tender sashimi, the flesh was cleaved open effortlessly, an extremely piercing wail echoed instantly within the heavy rain curtain.
Multicolored toxic blood sprayed everywhere, a strong pollution loomed before Lin Lan, yet dissipated like a breeze in front of him.
The steel fortress began to plummet towards the Great Wall.
