Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts-Chapter 717 - 98 Venomous Snake_1
The night passed without incident.
Early the next morning, Wen Yu got out of bed. He then bathed, burned incense, and dressed under the service of a dozen or so maids sent by Luo Hai. Though these were superficial matters in Wen Yu's eyes, the maids insisted that etiquette could not be neglected.
The Universe of Immortals and Heroes, with its intricate web of interests, was as complex as ancient Cathay.
After dressing, Wen Yu examined himself closely in the bronze mirror.
As the saying goes, "clothes make the man." After donning the elaborate robes of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, Wen Yu, who was tall, slender, and had features that were at least passable, immediately appeared much more spirited. The plain black robe he wore, signifying his status as the Young Master of Heavenly Palace, further enhanced his air of distinction.
Satisfied, he nodded and casually dismissed the waiting maids. Then he asked the Almighty Demon Vine, "Is there anything wrong with these clothes?"
Wen Yu was afraid Luo Hai might have tampered with the clothing in some way. If any minor detail were to offend his Senior Brother, it would definitely be a loss that outweighed any gain.
"There's no problem. Luo Hai wouldn't pull any tricks over such minor details," replied the Almighty Demon Vine.
Pulling tricks over minor details would, at most, disgust Wen Yu. It wouldn't amount to much, but it would expose Luo Hai's own lack of magnanimity. As a second-generation super-elite from the Heavenly Palace and the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance, Luo Hai's caliber was naturally beyond question.
Wen Yu could even guess the vast amount of resources Luo Hai must have received since birth, and the high-level education he underwent. Having successfully fought his way through and distinguished himself under such tutelage, Luo Hai was undoubtedly an elite of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!
This guy played his conspiracies like a venomous snake—one bite and your life would be forfeit!
"Be careful," Tang Haofei warned, clearly worried about Wen Yu's current predicament after yesterday's events.
Wen Yu nodded lightly. For this trip to welcome Lord Heaven's Path and Lord Da Luo, Wen Yu naturally couldn't bring Tang Haofei, an "outsider," with him.
And without Old Tang, Wen Yu's combat strength meant he wouldn't be able to hold his own in the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch on the Sixth layer of Tiangong!
Therefore, if danger arose, the attitude of Heavenly Dao, his Senior Brother, upon meeting him would be one critical hurdle, and the journey to welcome Heavenly Dao would be another!
The current situation for Wen Yu could aptly be described as perilous at every step!
"His Highness the Young Master, it is time," an administrator at the door announced respectfully to Wen Yu, then turned and walked out of the Sky Pole Cabinet.
Glancing at the luxuriously decorated, car-like vehicle already prepared outside, Wen Yu exited the Sky Pole Cabinet without expression and, under the administrator's guidance, boarded it.
The vehicle started moving slowly, and Wen Yu, inside, also slowly closed his eyes.
Life or death, it all comes down to this!
As it turned out, Wen Yu's fears had been somewhat excessive.
Luo Hai was not an audaciously reckless person. At least, on the way to the upper-level teleportation array formation, he had not employed any extreme measures.
This allowed Wen Yu, who had been on edge the entire journey, to heave a heavy sigh of relief.
The vehicle drove all the way to the location of the upper-level teleportation array formation. When Wen Yu alighted, he saw a room full of natives from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, all lavishly dressed, their auras fluctuating with abnormal intensity.
"The Young Master has arrived!"
The administrator behind him loudly announced Wen Yu's arrival, much like a young eunuch heralding a crown prince on an outing in ancient times.
The announcement almost made Wen Yu jump.
However, what surprised Wen Yu even more was yet to come.
Upon hearing the words "The Young Master has arrived!", everyone present immediately turned and bowed respectfully to Wen Yu.
"We greet the Young Master!"
The sheer scale of the reception and the resonance of their voices left Wen Yu astounded. He absolutely refused to believe this hadn't been rehearsed in advance!
Looking at Luo Hai, who stood at the very front of the crowd, bowing respectfully, Wen Yu found himself reassessing the man, developing a higher opinion of him.
During their private encounter yesterday, Luo Hai had shown utter disregard for him. That was undoubtedly Luo Hai's true attitude. Even if Wen Yu genuinely was the Young Master, Luo Hai's status and his father's background meant he had no need to grovel.
But now, in front of everyone from both factions of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance, Luo Hai was being thoroughly respectful. Young Master or not, Luo Hai's current demeanor was impeccable, leaving no room for criticism.
In Wen Yu's view, even if Heavenly Dao acknowledged his identity as Young Master, he couldn't go looking for trouble with Luo Hai anymore. If someone showed you such respect in public, and you later sought to cause them trouble, it would only make others think the Young Master of Heavenly Palace was using his position to oppress subordinates.
As for what happened between them yesterday? Who else knew?
Watching Luo Hai, not far ahead, leading the crowd as they all bowed in unison towards him, Wen Yu slowly narrowed his eyes.
If this fellow had resorted to petty, underhanded tricks, it would have been easier to handle. The more such tricks, the more it would indicate his lack of intellectual depth, revealing him as merely a witless fool not worth serious concern.
But now... it was obvious Luo Hai had prepared a 'grand feast' for him later on!
"Everyone, please rise," Wen Yu said to all present, his face adorned with a smile as warm as a spring breeze.
Upon hearing Wen Yu's voice, these natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes finally straightened up, resuming the postures they held when Wen Yu had first arrived.
Luo Hai, however, approached Wen Yu with a broad smile. He deliberately stooped, making himself appear shorter than Wen Yu, and said respectfully, "His Highness the Young Master, please take a seat at the front. We have already prepared a table, chairs, and refreshments for you there."
Observing Luo Hai's deferential manner, Wen Yu silently labeled him a venomous snake in his heart.
Being two-faced was despicable, but one had to admit, compared to straightforward individuals who spoke their minds, people like Luo Hai were truly difficult to deal with.
"There's no need, Luo Hai," Wen Yu responded. "Have someone remove the table, chairs, and refreshments. Lord Heaven's Path and Lord Da Luo will be arriving soon. How could we juniors possibly remain seated?"
"His Highness the Young Master is correct. It was indeed my oversight. This lowly one will give the orders immediately."
After speaking, Luo Hai shot a meaningful glance at an administrator behind him, then turned back to Wen Yu and said, "His Highness the Young Master, please follow me."
With that, Luo Hai took the lead, heading towards the front of the crowd.
"This guy is so fake," Wen Yu transmitted to the Almighty Demon Vine via spiritual fluctuation as he followed Luo Hai.
"Of course, he's fake. If he weren't, how could he have become the leader of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch on the sixth layer?" the Almighty Demon Vine replied.
