Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 58 Before the Flood
Laurel’s fingers tightened around the remote as she stared at the fallen camera on the television screen. The chaotic sound of running footsteps echoed through the speakers before the broadcast abruptly cut to static.
Her chest rose and fell slowly. The rain was hotter than she had remembered. Could this be the repercussion of being reborn? Or was it a butterfly effect caused by the actions she and Camile made?
According to the memories of her past, there were 4 weeks left before the meteor showers came. However, with things happening faster and more severely now, she wondered if they had that much time.
Her gaze darkened, her brows pulled sharply inward in worry.
Somewhere in the distance, a scream tore through the air before it was swallowed by the relentless sound of the pouring rain.
Laurel’s mind drifted to the workers in the valley. The space water could regulate the body temperature making the body adapt to heat, however, she wasn’t sure if it would work the same under the hot water.
She turned and grabbed her phone from the couch.
"Nate," she said the moment the call connected, her voice was soft but urgent. "Tell everyone in the valley to move indoors immediately."
"Yes, ma’am," Nate replied from the other end of the phone.
"And cover the herb fields if the tarps aren’t secured properly." She added.
Laurel knew Nate would become curious about how the herbs grew that fast, but this wasn’t the time to be worried about him suspecting her. She knew he already had his suspicions. It was better if the fields were secured, rather than the herbs getting destroyed by too much rain.
"Yes, ma’am," Nate replied.
The phone call disconnected with a beep.
The next second, the status panel on her wrist shimmered with blue colours.
[Crops’ health status:
Dan Shen: 80% {Healthy}
Shi Hu: 81% {healthy}]
Despite the fact that it was showing healthy, the green bar line was slowly turning yellow.

Laurel glanced back at the window, the rain was relentless. ’Don’t tell me it’s going to cause a flood?’
The flood came three days after the hot rain in her past life. But seeing how heavy the rain was, she really hoped her suspicion was wrong.
Laurel grabbed her phone and hurried to Alexander’s room. She knocked on the door a couple of times, before the door finally swung open.
Alexander squinted his drowsy eyes. "Laurel." His eyes snapped fully open in surprise. For the past few days, Laurel had been avoiding him like a plague and never gave him a chance to apologize to her.
He couldn’t help but wonder why she was knocking on his door early in the morning.
"It’s already raining," Laurel said with a grave expression.
Alexander stared for a second, unable to catch the meaning behind her words. "Wasn’t it supposed to rain today?"
"Yes, it was supposed to, however not this early. Which means my predictions are not a hundred percent guaranteed, and anything could spiral out of control.
I want us to start relocating as soon as possible. If I’m right, I fear a flood is coming, and it’s going to lead to a complete blackout, and more food will be destroyed." Laurel’s voice was laced with worry.
"Is that already serious?" Alexander asked.
"Yes, it’s better to move early, than to encounter an unforeseen danger." Laurel paused. "If possible, take out all the gold in the bank, and convert most of Wayne’s money to gold, and silver.
As for the remaining cash, we will use it to order more supplies.
The rain intensity should lower in about five hours, and have the helicopters move the family to the valley. And also, move all the resources to the valley through the helicopter. That will save us more time." Her eyes narrowed, as if she was making sure nothing was missing.
Alexander nodded. "I’ll do that..."
Before he could say more, Laurel had already turned, walking away from him.
But then she suddenly turned back, walking towards him again. "And as for your family members, I don’t want to step too low, otherwise I would never allow them into my base.
Grandpa, Grandma, and Tina can stay in the heart of the valley... as for the rest of the family they are to live outside the inner wall."
Alexander opened his mouth to speak.
"There is no more discussion about that, or you can bring them somewhere else, I don’t mind." She added. "And if you don’t like it, you can stay with them outside the inner wall."
Laurel knew she was a little bit too hard, but she needed to show Alexander how serious she was. Otherwise, the Wayne family could ruin everything she had painstakingly built.
Laurel turned again, not giving him any chance to speak.
Alexander remained at the door, completely displeased by her arrangement. But it was her base after all, even though he had made huge contributions to it, it seemed he had not earned the right to voice his own opinion.
He watched as Laurel’s back disappeared around the corner. Then, he hurried back inside his room, dialing Raphael’s number.
The moment the call connected, the sleepy voice of Raphael echoed from the other side of the phone. "Bossss."
"Wake up, you sleepyhead," Alexander said, slightly irritated.
Raphael grumbled a little before sitting up straight in his bed. "Yes, Mr. Wayne." He yawned, his voice was so loud that Alexander had to pull the phone away from his ear.
"Inform the bank, we are moving all our gold and silver, also change more bundles into gold, in five hours, have it all transported to the valley with a helicopter..." Alexander paused. "Bring your wife and parents along with you."
"Oh, is it already happening?" Raphael asked, his voice a little serious now.
"Yes," Alexander replied with a solemn voice.
...
The moment Laurel left Alexander, she immediately dialed Chris’s number. It didn’t ring the second time before Chris’s hoarse voice came from the other end.
"Laurel, good morning." He said with a calm voice.
"Good morning to you Chris."
Laurel wondered, if the morning was really good, it had claimed a lot of lives and left many with pain.
