Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 87 Crossing the Line
"What do I owe for this surprising visit?" Laurel asked, folding her arms across her chest.
Vera brushed her hair away from her face. "We know that you are the leader of this base, even when we are aware that my brother should be the leader." Her eyes narrowed slightly as if she was thinking about the situation again.
"Laurel, I don’t know what you have done to my brother to make him step down for you, but the reason we are here is because of Jade.
As a Wayne, she has been shielded all her life, no matter what she did, it doesn’t warrant you chasing her away into the hellish world out there. And besides, all of this," she waved at the building. "It is possible because of the Wayne money, you can’t discard us so easily after using our wealth." She lowered her voice.
"We didn’t argue with you back in the hall because we thought of giving you some face, now... You should bring Jade back without a single hair of hers out of place." Vera said, her gaze turning into a deathglare.
Felicia stepped forward. "I even tried to play nice with you, pleading with you as if you were worthy. Perhaps the power of control is already getting into your brain. Get your head straight, the Waynes are the ones who call the shots in this fortress... You are just nothing but a wretched dog picked from the streets."
Laurel scoffed. "You came here to tell me this?" She shook her head as if she were sad. "I can see you all haven’t learned your lessons yet."
"Laurel, we are not going to repeat ourselves, bring Jade back or you are to regret ever crossing us." Felicia reiterated slowly.
Laurel walked closer to them, her chin slightly raised. If it were not because of her, and if Ling Xuan could have her way, the Waynes would not have set foot in the fortress.
"You’ll speak to me with respect, otherwise I don’t mind sending you out of my fortress. You decide what you want, and should this repeat itself, I’ll make you regret it." Laurel said, her tone commanding respect.
Silence stretched between them. Felicia and Vera looked like her words had touched their hearts.
The second they burst out in laughter as if Laurel had cracked the joke of the century. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Vera wiped the invisible tears from her eyes. "Did you hear what she said? This woman... this woman who was nothing until the Waynes picked her up from the trenches... now she wants to be the head of the family."
"The audacity!" Felicia spat out.
Laurel closed her eyes, trying to quell the anger boiling in her veins. "If you can’t follow my rules, use the gate." She said, turning around to go back to her room. She didn’t want to get caught up in their foolish argument.
But her steps halted when Vera suddenly grabbed her hair, pulling Laurel backward.
Laurel’s hands wrapped around hers. "Let go!" Laurel shouted.
Felicia did not want to miss the chance to teach Laurel a lesson for all the insults she had received from her. And not to mention how much she hated it when she acted like she was some high figure.
Pain tore through Laurel’s scalp as they yanked her hair.
She held Vera’s hand and in the split second her knees connected to her abdomen. Vera fell on the ground clutching her stomach as she cried in pain.
Felicia paused the moment she saw Vera rolling on the ground clutching her stomach. Her eyes widened in fear; instinctively, she turned to Laurel to scold her, but the next second a fist connected with her nose.
Felicia heard the sound of something breaking and warm liquid trickled down her lips. Her hand shakily touched it even though she already knew what it was, but the moment she saw the blood on her finger, she let out a scream before her eyes rolled to the back of her head.
Felicia’s body swayed towards Laurel. Laurel stepped to the side letting her body drop to the ground, she stared at the two in-laws of hers and anger burned inside her.
She had never thought they would be the first people she would use her skills on.
She turned to head back to her room. A hand wrapped around her ankles, when she looked down it was none other than Vera.
"You can’t leave until you bring Jade back... and what the hell have you done to Felicia?!" Vera’s eyes widened when she saw the blood pouring out of Felicia’s nose.
Vera’s fingers tightened around Laurel’s ankle as she struggled to sit up, her face twisted with pain yet filled with stubborn fury. "You think this is over? Bring Jade back... or I swear you will regret today."
Laurel looked down at her without speaking. The anger that had flared moments ago settled into something much colder. She bent slightly, pried Vera’s hand off her ankle, and stepped back as if the touch itself annoyed her.
"Release her."
The sharp command cut through the corridor.
Two soldiers who had rushed over at the sound of the commotion froze when they saw Felicia sprawled on the ground with blood staining half her face.
"Commander..." one of them called carefully.
Laurel did not raise her voice. "Help them up. Then escort both of them to the holding room. They attacked the base leader, until further notice, their movement is restricted."
Vera let out a disbelieving laugh despite the pain. "You dare detain a Wayne?"
"I dare enforce my rules," Laurel replied calmly.
Footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor before anyone could respond. The soldiers straightened instinctively as a tall figure came into view.
Alexander’s gaze swept across the scene, lingering briefly on Felicia before settling on Laurel.
His gaze darkened. "What is going on here?"
Laurel glanced at him, the fury in her constricted her throat. "Ask them," Laurel said, smoothing down her hair.
"Brother, your wife hit Felicia, and me because we pleaded with her to bring Jade back. We didn’t say anything but nice and polite. We even knelt before her, but she said she was going to make the Waynes pay for the humiliation we had given to her. She promised to make our lives a living hell...
Brother look at me and look at Felicia... your wife really hates us, we did nothing wrong." Vera cried, clutching her stomach.
