Chapter 189: Chapter 189: Catching Experimental Subjects

Thus, after this battle, his resolution became firmer and he decided to never betray them no matter what happened. Within this team, his family could find more than just protection. These are people who wouldn’t mind fighting to the death for one of their own.

Hence, he had to talk to his family so that their loyalty never wavers no matter the circumstances.

Zhao Lu had also come to the same conclusion. Not to mention that they had saved his son when they didn’t even know each other, now that they were teammates, he was sure that there would be more benefits.

Chu Miao waved her hand and used spiritual energy to isolate the counter so as to prevent the maggots from escaping once it was opened.

"Big brother, could you give me ten jade bottles? The ones that are used for pills." Chu Miao said as she walked near the counter.

Chu Hao didn’t ask what they were for. Since his sister had already said that she was collecting experiment subjects, he knew that the bottles would be used to store the maggots.

"Won’t they die if you lock them in those bottles? They don’t have any kind of ventilation." Chu Hao asked while still taking the bottles out of his space ring and gave them to his sister.

"Don’t worry, they won’t suffocate. I have my ways to keep them alive until we deliver them to those researchers." Chu Miao replied as she took the bottles and opened the door of the display counter.

As soon as the door opened, those maggots changed direction and stopped attacking the glass then turned towards the place Chu Miao was.

However, as soon as they got to the door, they found that they couldn’t move any further. It was as if an invisible barrier had appeared preventing them from leaving.

They crashed against the barrier over and over again without success.

Chu Miao acted as if she hadn’t noticed the struggle of the creatures, which couldn’t be classified as bugs anymore. She stood in front of the door and placed a bottle at a specific spot. The next moment, she opened a tiny hole on the barrier that could only fit the mouth of the bottle.

Upon feeling the overflowing vitality coming from that specific spot, the strongest maggot with more strength than the rest flew incredibly fast to the hole and attempted to leave.

Unfortunately, it ended up flying right into the waiting mouth of a jade bottle.

Chu Miao closed the first bottle and placed another at the same spot then opened the hole again. After repeating this process ten times, she had ten bottles with maggots of different sizes and abilities inside.

A few of the maggots captured had transparent wings and could fly quite fast. Others didn’t have any wings but moved faster than any maggot any of them had ever seen.

The last two bottles contained maggots that behaved like the normal ones except that their size was a bit bigger.

After getting what they needed, Chu Miao had her brother set the counter on fire while still isolated. It burned to ashes in a couple of minutes leaving behind nothing but ashes and an empty space next to the door.

Chu Miao walked to one of the tables and used spiritual power to wipe the dust clean and placed all ten bottles on it.

Then she started moving her hands with a solemn expression making unknown gestures. The others didn’t understand what she was doing but Chu Hao instantly understood his sister’s plan.

No wonder she said that she had a way to keep those maggots alive even if they were locked in the jade bottles without ventilation.

She was drawing an array on the bottles. He didn’t know what kind of array it was, but it must be very impressive.

After fifteen minutes, Chu Miao finally stopped. The ten bottles on the table suddenly emitted a faint golden light before it disappeared as if it had been an illusion.

However, the ten bottles now had an additional pattern on them. Whatever Chu Miao had been doing seemed to have succeeded.

"What were you doing?" Ye Xuan asked the question everyone else other than Chu Hao wanted to ask.

He knew that if Chu Miao intended to keep what she had done a secret, she wouldn’t have done it in front of everyone.

Therefore, it was only that she didn’t think it was important to talk about it or that she didn’t have the ability to be recognized.

"I was placing an array formation on the bottles to allow them to be temporarily able to preserve life.

After a period of time, these array drawings appearing on the jade bottles will disappear. Then the bottle would become useless and cannot support life in it anymore." Chu Miao explained everything she had been doing.

"Alright, since we have what we need, let’s see if this shop has anything worth taking." Chu Hao said as he moved forward towards a door to the left. Clearly indicating a store room behind it. Listening quietly for any other movements belonging to humans or zombies behind the door, Chu Hao waited for a while and didn’t hear any noise indicating that there was nothing inside.

However, just to be sure, he still scanned the room with his divine sense and when he saw nothing, he was finally satisfied and opened the door.

It wasn’t locked. The inside was as dark as could be and even with a window, there wasn’t enough light coming in to illuminate the place. Probably because of the rain, visibility was affected.

Taking a flashlight from the space ring, he turned it on and the room became bright immediately.

The others followed him inside. Chu Miao and Ye Xuan brought the rear to guard against any surprises. After all, you never know what is hiding in the dark somewhere nowadays.

When everyone saw the things in the room they felt relieved. Chichi was overjoyed to finally see something that could be eaten.

Having not eaten anything for two days, she had been moving on pure will power until now.
