Ye Xuan didn't make a move to pick the crystals or order his men to do so. He just stood there and did nothing.

"Aren't you going to take some of the crystals? Some of the zombies with crystal cores were killed by you." Chu Miao finally asked after waiting for a while and seeing them taking no action.

"No need, since there are zombies here with crystal cores inside, then there are others elsewhere. We will kill more zombies and there surely will be more crystals."

"You can take these." Ye Xuan didn't think he was doing anything special because it was with the help of Chu Miao that they found out about the crystal cores. Otherwise, they would just be killing zombies and leaving.

Such a benefit would not have fallen on them. Thus, he didn't think it was a loss to miss out on the ten crystal cores.

But Chu Miao and her family didn't think it was right to take all the crystal cores. No matter how many more zombies they killed, they couldn't guarantee that they would find more crystals, so, father Chu insisted that they take half the crystal cores.

"Just take them. These could be helpful in improving your strength so don't reject them." Father Chu said.

"Since we killed the zombies together, you should indeed take at least half of the loot." Chu Hao added his two cents as well.

"It was because of Miss Chu that we found out about the crystals, otherwise it might have taken a long time to discover something so significant.

With this knowledge alone, we have an advantage over other people and can increase our strength faster. So, I don't think it's a loss giving all the crystals to her as a thank you."

Ye Xuan rephrased his statement after seeing the entire family looking at him with the hope of taking the crystals.

He just didn't know that all of them, except for Chu Miao and Chu Hao, had ulterior motives. They thought that he was the son-in-law they had picked in their mind and they wanted him to become stronger quickly so that he could help Chu Miao and protect her.

But the young man was so righteous that it was frustrating.

"If I tell you to take them, just take them." Finally Grandpa Chu lost it and exerted the authority of an elder.

Even Chu Miao was taken aback and couldn't understand why her grandfather was so adamant. Ye Xuan was right, there were other zombies and they could get more crystals by killing more mutated zombies.

Ye Xuan was asking himself the same question and his men were no different. This was the first time they had seen someone force others to take good things for themselves.

"That's a good strategy. It helps us conduct our search without the risk of ambush. Moreover, moving from the top will reduce the chances of any survivors being difficult about rescuing others while they waited."

Chu Miao knew that they were rescuing these people out of the goodness of their hearts, but some people might take it for granted and cause trouble. She wanted to prevent that.

"Okay, let's do as you say." Grandpa Chu fully supported this suggestion and everyone held their weapons ready to fight and protect as many humans as possible.

Humanity was already in trouble and if more people died at the hands of zombies, or experienced something worse; becoming zombies themselves then the survival of humanity might be at stake.

Even though they were not obligated to save anyone, they still made the decision to save as many people as they could.

The group moved quickly into the first dormitory building and killed the zombies they found in the reception area.

They decided to take the elevator so that they could get to the top faster.

"Everyone should be careful once the elevator is opened. We don't know what's on the other side of it, so better to be prepared." Chu Miao cautioned as she did not know the situation on the other side and didn't want to take the risk of one of them getting injured or killed.

As soon as the elevator door opened a zombie lunged at them with it's claws aimed at Ye Xuan's neck since he was at the front.

The guy had subtly moved to stand in front of Chu Miao who was at the front when they entered the elevator earlier.

Ye Xuan used his thunder ability to form a net that sliced the zombie into pieces.

After seeing the mess he made, Ye Xuan felt that he could do better next time.

They cleaned up all the zombies on that floor and decided to go through the dormitories looking for survivors and supplies.

They might not find much since the students' purchasing power was not high, but you never know what you might find.
