Chapter 546: Chapter 546: Liu Chen’s Family

"I can’t stop thinking about my son turning into those monsters. If only he had stayed a few more days when he came back for a vacation. Then that fever would have found him here and he would be home." The mother continued to lament sorrowfully.

"Then that would not be our son. Our son is stubborn and carries out whatever he had planned or ordered to the later. If he stayed a few more days when he had promised a squad member to help him with a mission, then that would not be our son." The middle-aged man, who was later introduced as Liu Tan, said with a sad smile.

"That’s true. That boy is too honest. I am just worried that some people would take advantage of his honest nature and one-track mind in this changed world." The middle-aged woman said again with a far-away look.

Chu Miao turned to look at Ye Xuan and raised an eyebrow as if to ask, ’does this sound familiar?’

Ye Xuan nodded his head because he also thought of someone who would fit that description perfectly.

Seeing the two exchanging glances, Liu Da cleared his throat and asked curiously, "Do you by any chance know my grandson?"

Everyone turned to look at the two when they heard the question. If they had news of their relative, then that would be a massive blessing.

"I think we know someone with that description given but we are not completely sure if it’s him." Chu Miao explained cautiously.

She didn’t want to get their hopes up and then crash them again. That was too cruel.

"My son is a soldier in the Military base A in City A. His name is Liu Chen. Have you perhaps heard of him?" The middle-aged woman asked anxiously. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

One could see from the tremble in her lips and her shaking hands that she was both anxious, excited, and fearful.

She wanted to know about her son, but was afraid that the news she received would not be good knees. She was praying in her heart that her son was okay no matter where he was. Even if he couldn’t come home, as long as he was alive, that was enough.

Both Chu Miao and Ye Xuan smiled when they heard the name.

Indeed, it was the person they were both thinking of.

"We do know Liu Chen. He is indeed a soldier of Military base A and quite headstrong. No matter what orders he is given, he will fulfill them." Chu Miao explained with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, that’s him. We have tried to teach him to learn how to bend but he wouldn’t budge. Do you know where he is now? Is he doing well? Do his teammates treat him well?" The mother asked anxiously and everyone else perked up their ears to listen.

"Liu Chen is doing well. He is no longer in the military base. He followed us to our base a few months ago and is a bit busy training people." Chu Miao reassured them when she saw the worry in the parents and other relatives’ faces. "...So, you don’t have to worry about him. He is doing better than most people in the apocalypse."

"Really? That’s good. Thank you so much for taking him in. Thank you for being kind to him.

If he is able to come home some day, please tell him we are waiting for him." The mother was shading tears like water flowing from a tap by now.

However, this time they were tears of joy. She couldn’t believe that her son was alive. But this was the best news she had received since the apocalypse began.

"No problem. Since you said that if someone from the Chu family accompanied others they could enter the village, then I or my brother could bring him when there is time. It might just take a while because we are at war with zombies now and it won’t be easy to get away. We just finished a battle with several million zombies surrounding a base in City C and such occurrences are common now. We need every pair of hands we can get, so Liu Chen coming for a visit might take some time." Chu Miao didn’t sugarcoat the reality because she was aware that in a war, anything could happen.

So, she only promised a visit from Liu Chen when there was time. Also, she let them know about the war with zombies so that if an accident happened, they would be mentally prepared.

The Liu family also understood this, but they were grateful either way because at least now they knew their son was alive and where he was.

"Thank you benefactor. Please don’t feel burdened about bringing him home for a visit. Since he is doing well, that is the most important thing." Liu Da was quite open-minded for such an old chief, but both Chu Miao and Ye Xuan appreciated his attitude.

"That’s great. The reason we entered the village was because the array formation here can help with training mental strength for superpower users. We were hoping our team could train her for a few days." Ye Xuan finally stated the reason for their visit.

"No problem, you can bring them in and do whatever you want. There is an empty house in my compound that had been built for Liu Chen but he has been in the military all along and never moved in. You can use that." Liu Tan immediately invited them to bring their teammates in to train.

Chu Miao appreciated such a straightforward answer and was overjoyed.

"Thank you so much for your help. It means a lot to us." She thanked them sincerely because in the apocalypse, it wouldn’t be easy to find such generous people.

"No need to be so polite. If not for your ancestors, we would be perishing like everyone else out there." Liu Da knew to be grateful. He understood that the Chu family was inseparable from their peaceful life now.
