Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 147: Suggestion
The translucent panels continued to scroll in front of their eyes, lines of text detailing EXP distribution and minor contribution bonuses.
Myles skimmed through it quickly. The numbers were decent, but not enough to trigger an immediate breakthrough for his next level. And it was not like he could rely on the system’s number anymore when he already understood Ether power.
Victor checked his own gain and gave a short whistle. "This is not bad."
Daniel grinned. "But I don’t think it’s worth the burns. I fucking hate it."
Kade did not say anything. His gaze stayed on the corpse, as if making sure it would not rise again. The manic edge in his eyes slowly dimmed, though it did not disappear completely.
Myles stepped closer to the remains.
The Blazing Guardian’s body no longer burned, but faint heat still radiated from the cracked shell. Ice residue from Clara’s spear clung to its skull, thin frost spreading across hardened fire that had turned brittle.
Myles crouched and pressed the tip of his short sword against the creature’s chest.
The shell fragmented instantly.
It did not crumble into ash. Instead, the outer armor collapsed inward, breaking apart like cooled magma that got hit. Beneath it, something pulsed.
It was something in orange-red color, the size of a fist, encased in jagged crystalline layers. It glowed dimly, but steadily.
Victor saw it first. "What the hell is this?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
George stepped closer. "That looks like a material I can craft into something."
A new notification appeared in Myles’ eyes.
[Mutated Flame Core – Rank B]
[Description: Highly condensed fire attribute energy. Compatible with fire-aligned skills, forging processes, or advanced enhancement rituals.]
Myles told them all about the description.
Clara exhaled softly and said. "Maybe it was that thing that was sustaining it and giving it power."
Myles frown while looking at the orb. Even weakened, the core radiated warmth. Not scorching, but potent. He could feel the density of energy inside it.
His eyes narrowed slightly. He needed to ask Lilian about this.
Behind them, Michael approached slowly with a few of his people. His expression was composed, but his gaze lingered on the core in Myles’ hand.
"That’s the source of its mutation?" Michael asked.
"Looks like it," Victor replied casually.
Michael nodded, but his mind worked quickly. A Rank B Mutated Soul could be a very strong material.
Darius and Rafe also stepped closer, their eyes briefly flashing with interest at the item. Selene observed quietly with calculating eyes.
Myles stood up.
He did not announce his ownership over this item, but no one questioned it either. His group had taken the risk. The core was theirs, naturally.
For a brief moment, silence settled over the ruined street. Smoke drifted upward. The air felt strangely calm compared to the inferno minutes ago.
But Myles felt a faint prickle along his senses. Like they were being watched. But, he will let Lilian handle it.
—
High above the ruined district, hidden within layers of drifting orange mist, the red-haired woman watched the battlefield grow quiet.
The inferno had died down. The creature she had empowered had fallen exactly as she predicted.
From the moment it was forced into that crater and surrounded, its fate had already been sealed. She never expected it to win. It was merely a test subject. A spark thrown into dry grass to observe how the fire would spread.
Her crimson eyes tracked Myles and his companions as they examined the remains. Interesting.
That group had adapted faster than the others. Their coordination was sharp. Their attacks layered one after another.
More importantly, their Ether did not fluctuate wildly like most awakened humans. It circulated in controlled loops, compressed along their skin and reinforced their organs internally.
That level of refinement required guidance or intense survival experience and a knowledge they were not likely to get by their own.
Her gaze shifted subtly, recalling the black wings that had unfolded earlier against the flames.
"So it’s because of her," she murmured.
A higher-being walking openly in this broken realm and showing these lower creatures how it’s done.
The lower world was supposed to be chaotic and crude after the collapse. Yet here she found structure and growth. Potential pieces worth watching.
A faint grin curved her lips. "This realm is more entertaining than I expected."
She turned slightly, preparing to leave the rooftop. There was nothing else to gain from this vantage point.
Then she felt it. A presence approaching from behind.
The mist stirred as something descended without disturbing the air too violently.
The red-haired woman stopped, but did not turn immediately. Her senses expanded outward.
She already knew who it was.
Black wings folded gracefully as Lilian landed behind her. Her feet touched the rooftop without sound.
For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. The red-haired woman slowly faced her.
Their eyes locked. Recognition did not need names. They both understood each other. The resonance between them was subtle but undeniable. They were not from this world.
The air tensed between them. If either chose to release even a fraction more, this entire building would collapse.
"What are you doing here?" Lilian asked at last, her voice calm but edged with warning.
The red-haired woman tilted her head slightly and offered a faint smile. "I go where I please. Surely you understand that."
"You planted that power into that human," Lilian said evenly. "You turned him into that monster. Why?"
A casual shrug answered her. "Curiosity. Experimentation. A bit of amusement. Does everything have to have a grand purpose?"
Lilian’s gaze hardened. "This realm is unstable enough without interference from beings like us."
"And yet," the red-haired woman countered softly, "you are here as well."
Silence lingered again.
Then Lilian spoke with deliberate clarity. "Alright. If you want to invest your time here, do it wisely. Don’t waste your time. I have a suggestion."
The red-haired woman’s interest sharpened. "Oh?"
"There is someone in that group," Lilian said. "He has potential far beyond what you just witnessed."
The red-haired woman’s eyes widened slightly.
"You mean the one who led the charge into the crater?" she asked slowly.
"Yes." Lilian gives her a meaningful look. Only them knew what that ’potential’ really meant.
A thoughtful smile replaced the earlier playful one. "Now that... sounds far more interesting than a simple creature in this realm."
