Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 189: Taking the first step
Meng Qibao was scared, really scared. He looked at the zombie lying on the floor, muttering, "Ho, ho." Just one glimpse was enough to make Meng Qibao gag, but when he thought about how he could get a bag of rice and a catty of pork belly, he gritted his teeth and picked up the butcher knife.
"Qibao!" Meng Suisui was stunned when she saw her brother walk over the zombie; though she wanted to pull him back, she stopped when she saw the determination in his eyes.
With the knife clutched in his hands, Meng Qibao came to a stop in front of the child zombie. The monster raised his head and looked at Meng Qibao. His jagged teeth snapped at his feet, but Meng Qibao pulled it back.
’It is not a child. It’s a monster—if I don’t kill it, it will kill me,’ Meng Qibao reminded himself again and again. And just when everyone thought that he was too terrified to move, the young man raised the knife over his head and —
BANG!
"AHHH!"
With a roar, Meng Qibao cut down the neck of the zombie. Though he stumbled and his knife got stuck in the neck of the monster, he did as Bai Meiyue asked him to.
"Pull it back and hack it again." Even though Meng Qibao was someone she knew, Bai Meiyue didn’t go easy on him. She was here to make a statement and not to show sympathy or mercy. "You need to kill it to take out the crystal nuclei from its head. Without the nuclei, you will not get the supplies."
Meng Qibao gritted his teeth when he heard Bai Meiyue’s words. He pulled the knife out of the bone, in which it got stuck and then brought it down.
"AHH!"
"AHH!"
"ARGHH!"
With each hit, Meng Qibao’s scream turned louder and louder. His clothes were dirtied because of rotten blood that was flying all over the place; pieces of flesh and bones stuck to his shoes, and drops of blood trickled down his face. The sight was as gruesome as it could be.

"Murder–murderer!"
Someone in the crowd screamed, and Meng Qibao, who had bent doubled to take the crystal nuclei out of the head of the zombie, paused. He turned to look at the person who screamed and snapped at him harshly, "Shut up! What murderer? I killed a monster. If I hadn’t killed it, that thing would have killed me instead. I am not stupid like you all. I need food, and I will do anything to get it!"
He then turned to look at his sister and said, "Sister Suisui, are you going to keep standing there? I am hungry; no, I am starving. Are you sure that you don’t want to kill this zombie in exchange for food?"
Though he spoke harshly, anyone could see that the man was shaking with fear.
Meng Suisui, who was scolded by Meng Anzhi to the point that she couldn’t raise her head, stiffened. She pursed her lips and looked at the monster floundering on the ground before turning to look at her brother. She knew Meng Qibao very well.
Her brother was someone who disliked even getting the tips of his finger wet in dirty water. If he ended up touching something wriggly or squishy, he would vomit everything that he had eaten in the last few days. However, this brother of hers, who was so picky and lived his life like a little prince, was willing to kill a zombie.
Then how could she lower her head and hide? Meng Suisui knew that her brother wanted to throw up, but he was holding on. Since he could do it. She could do it, too.
With her teeth gritted so tightly that she felt them grind to dust, Meng Suisui walked forward step by step. She ignored the crowd of onlookers who were staring at her as if she had lost her mind and took the butcher knife from her brother. Her entire body was trembling like a leaf in a storm.
She was shaking so much that the knife in her hands couldn’t even be held properly. Twice it fell, and she picked it each time. She could have given up but she didn’t.
She raised the knife over her head and closed her eyes before bringing it down on the cripple zombie. However, because the zombie was not tied, it dodged and tried to bite Meng Suisui. If Meng Qibao hadn’t pulled her back, she would have been bitten by the monster.
"Open your eyes!" barked Bai Meiyue. With her hands behind her back, she looked at Meng Suisui and said to her, "Don’t attack with your eyes closed! Do you want to be killed? Open them and see where you are aiming." Find adventures at novelbuddy
Meng Suisui was scared, but she still raised the knife and attacked the zombie again. This time, she hit it right on the head. The second the knife hit the target, blood with flesh and a small amount of sticky black and red blood splattered all over the place.
However, the zombie was still alive. Meng Suisui raised her head and looked at Bai Meiyue with tearful eyes, and she then heard the woman say, "Don’t look at me! I can give you resources, but I cannot raise you. Someone like me doesn’t have the ability to do so."
Hearing her words, Meng Suisui gritted her teeth and pulled the knife out of the skull of the zombie. She raised it again and brought it down with as much strength as she could summon. Because Meng Suisui was biting her lip really hard, she tasted blood in her mouth.
She hit the zombie again, but her strength was not enough, and the knife only made a small cut in the head of the zombie.
Seeing Meng Suisui’s appearance, Bai Meiyue cursed iron for not turning into steel. She cursed angrily, "Meng Qibao, step on the handle of the knife and kill that thing."
