Lu Yin couldn’t help but feel unjust. It was just cooking a few bowls of rice and frying a few pieces of eggplant coated in spices. How come she couldn’t do something so simple?

"Alright, calm down." Mother Lei patted the back of her daughter’s hand and asked her to sit still. "We can still eat it." Though these things looked inedible, they had no choice; Lu Yin had already wasted the supplies that Lei Qian brought with him, and they couldn’t throw this meal in the trashcan.

"How can I sit still!?" Lei Yan turned to look at her mother with an angry look in her eyes. "If she doesn’t know how to cook, then she shouldn’t experiment! Its already kind of us that we are letting her stay with all the trouble she keeps causing. Now she is even ruining the supplies that I and my brother got after going to great lengths."

Lei Yan knew that she was harsh and her words were going to make Lu Yu feel awkward but was it her fault? She had asked Lu Yu to control Lu Yin but the man was too soft on his sister. He would scold her as if he were hitting a child. A light tap and nothing more.

Because of this, Lu Yin was getting more and more lawless. She knew that supplies in the kitchen were limited and yet she went ahead and cooked this disastrous meal. In times like these, even a single grain of rice was more precious than gold.

How could Lu Yin waste it like this? Did she think that they were still living in the past? That she could burn the supplies if she wanted and then replace them by buying more?

Lu Yin’s face flushed red. She raised her head and looked at Lei Qian and saw the man frowning while looking at the burnt dishes in front of him. "I said I was sorry!" She was worried that Lei Qian would hate her and couldn’t help but curse Lei Yan a thousand times in her heart. If she knew that this woman would make things difficult for her like this, she would have given her all to kill Lei Yan.

Lu Yu was also embarrassed. But there was nothing he could do or say at this point. If he had known that Lu Yin would do such a thing, he would have stopped her.

But now that it had already happened—he sighed and said with an apologetic tone, "I will go on a hunt and make up for the supplies. I am sorry that my sister was insensible, Master Lei."

Lu Yin heaved a sigh of relief when she heard Lu Yu say that he was going to make up for the supplies and her spine straightened a little.

"Instead of making up for the losses, why don’t you teach your sister to stop acting as a monster?" Lei Yan shot a fierce look at Lu Yu and said to him in disgust, "If you keep covering for her, she will sooner or later cause big trouble. How long do you think you can take care of her mess?"

"Sister Yan—"

"Yan’er is right, Ah Yu." Lei Qian raised his head and looked at Lu Yu with a stern look in his eyes. "I can ignore such things happening once and twice but if it becomes a habit, then it will become a problem for everyone."

He didn’t even look at Lu Yin, who was staring at him with a broken expression. Her hands were tightly clenched in her lap and her face was twisted maliciously. But because she had dropped her head in time, no one noticed.

Lu Yin couldn’t understand what went wrong. She and Lei Qian were obviously good friends when they were young and he even took care of her. It was just a burnt meal; shouldn’t he eat everything and tell her that it was alright and the meal was the most delicious meal that he had eaten?

Why was it different than what she thought?

It must be Lei Yan. Thats right. It must be because of this woman that Lei Qian treated her like that. If not for her, then Lei Qian would have certainly never treated her in such a cold manner.

Lei Qian had no idea that because of his strict words, Lu Yin had started to hate his sister even more. He just wanted everyone to understand that wasting supplies was simply an abhorrent act.

He never meant to target anyone.

Lei Qian was just harsh to everyone other than his family and Bai Meiyue.

"I understand." Lu Yu sighed and agreed. He wanted to say something more but after a few minutes of hesitation, he simply closed his mouth and started eating the half-cooked rice.

DING.

The sound of the doorbell echoed in the room, disrupting the awkward and fierce atmosphere. Mother Lei heaved a sigh of relief. She got to her feet and said to the people sitting around the dining room, "I will go and see who it is."

"Mum, if its that Bai Xue, just come back and don’t waste your time quibbling with her," said Lei Yan. These days, Bai Xue was visiting their house religiously. At first they were polite with that girl but then Bai Xue took it for granted and started haunting them like a clingy ghost.

"I know," Mother Lei nodded as she turned on her feet and headed out of the room, past the front door, before walking towards the electric door in the corridor. When she turned on the intercom, she saw Mother Bai standing on the other side. "Sister Bai! Why are you here? Did something happen?" She added worriedly.

These past few days had opened her eyes and refreshed the opinions of Mother Lei’s about the shamelessness of humans. So how could she not worry when she saw Mother Bai appearing in front of her door so early in the morning?
