Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator-Chapter 303 - 298: The World Behind the Door
Porcupine anxiously turned his head to look at Chen Pingchuan, his eyes full of helplessness and confusion.
The Great Fierce Bear was also panting heavily, muttering, "This door seems to be sealed shut by something. We can't push it at all."
Chen Pingchuan frowned slightly as he stepped forward to examine the massive door. It was made of some ancient material and carved with strange runes that faintly emitted a weak glow, seemingly resisting any external force.
Suddenly, a peculiar feeling surged in his heart.
He could push this door open.
And, of course, that's exactly what he did.
RUMBLE!
With a great, rumbling roar, the imposing and heavy door slowly swung open under Chen Pingchuan's gentle push.
Behind the door was a long corridor. Gems that emitted an ethereal glow were embedded in the walls on both sides, casting an eerie blue-green light throughout the hallway. At the end of the corridor, a human figure was faintly visible, seemingly waiting for them.
"Boss, look, there's a person over there!" Wei Hao whispered to Chen Pingchuan, his voice tinged with flattery.
"It doesn't matter. I'll handle it."
Unconcerned with the person's identity, Chen Pingchuan was the first to stride toward the end of the corridor. As they drew closer, they could finally see the figure clearly. It was a pale-faced old man who exuded a sinister, cold aura. He gazed at Chen Pingchuan with a venomous look and snarled, "Brat, I don't care who you are, but this is the bedchamber where my god resides. You'd be wise to leave immediately.
"If you awaken the True God, the consequences will be more than you can bear."
The old man's words dripped with menace. But that wasn't all. As he finished speaking, the very space near the walls began to ripple like water. In the next instant, countless distorted, faceless black figures materialized around them.
His expression unchanged, Chen Pingchuan swept his gaze coolly over the dark figures. "What?" he said lightly. "Have the last few days not taught you to face reality?
"Do you still think these shadow creatures can affect me?
"It seems not enough of you have died yet."
Hearing Chen Pingchuan's mockery, the white-haired old man could no longer maintain his calm expression. His face darkened as he snapped, "Junior, from my observations over the past few days, I may not know how you're able to restrain the Divine Servants, but your friends certainly don't share your ability.
"If you persist in your folly, I doubt they'll last long enough for you to rescue them!"
As the white-haired old man finished speaking, four Level Seven human powerhouses suddenly appeared beside him. This was clearly the last of the forces he could muster.
Sensing the old man's desperate gamble, Lilia and the others' expressions changed.
The old man had a point. Their leader seemed powerful, but what good would it do, no matter how many he killed? Just as the white-haired old man said, even if Chen Pingchuan won, the rest of them would likely die here.
Unlike Wei Hao and the others, whose minds were racing, Porcupine's reaction was much simpler.
"Hey, old man! You think we scare that easily? If you're not happy about it, let's just fight and see who drops first!" he bellowed. "With that scrawny body of yours, I could crush you with one hand!"
It was like a scholar trying to reason with a soldier—utterly pointless. The white-haired old man had only wanted to scare them away; he had no intention of fighting to the bitter end. After all, his tribe was just beginning to flourish, and he couldn't bear for it to suffer such a calamitous setback before it had truly developed. But he also couldn't just let them pass, which put him in a very awkward position.
"Hmph!" the old man scoffed. "You big oaf. I can't be bothered with you." He turned his gaze to Chen Pingchuan. "Brat, what's your verdict?"
A disdainful smile curved Chen Pingchuan's lips. "Threatening me? Maybe that would have worked on someone else. Too bad for you. Allow me to send you on your way."
With that, his form flashed like lightning as he rushed toward the white-haired old man.
The four Level Seven human powerhouses reacted instantly, moving like four black lightning bolts to intercept and surround him the moment he moved. One of the powerhouses lunged, his hands shaped like eagle talons, whistling through the air as they aimed for Chen Pingchuan's throat. Another wielded a long saber, its cold blade glinting as he slashed viciously at Chen Pingchuan's waist. The remaining two flanked him, their hands clad in metal gauntlets, attempting to lock down his movements.
I only dared to strike first because I'm certain all these Level Seven guys are physical enhancers. If I were up against some of those nonsensical talent-users, I really wouldn't be sure of a win. But now...
"Pilfer!"
"Pilfer!"
"Pilfer!"
"Pilfer!"
He instantly cast the rule-type skill four consecutive times, and four items appeared in his hands: a bloody arm, a jet-black heart, a piece of leg armor, and a sock.
"Ugh!" Chen Pingchuan flung the items from his hands, a wave of revulsion washing over him. What the hell is with the sock?!
Seeing the look of absolute terror in his opponents' eyes, Chen Pingchuan suppressed his nausea. He tapped his toe on the ground and leaned back, his entire body like a fully drawn bow.
He used the backward momentum to dart to the side of the now one-armed man. With a light touch to the man's wrist, the saber in his hand suddenly felt heavy. The searing pain from his severed limb made it impossible for him to maintain his grip.
The moment Chen Pingchuan snatched the weapon, the Level Seven expert's fate was sealed. Even though he did his best to dodge, Chen Pingchuan's next move pinned him to the wall with the stolen saber.
Damn, I feel strong as hell right now.
With two of their comrades eliminated in an instant, the faces of the remaining two Level Seven melee experts changed drastically. They hadn't expected Chen Pingchuan to be so ruthless and decisive.
The two exchanged a glance, a flicker of resolve in their eyes. They stopped their rash attacks and began to circle Chen Pingchuan slowly, probing for an opening.
Chen Pingchuan, however, was completely unfazed, exuding a chilling killing intent. He stared at them coldly and, with a light step, took the initiative and charged at one of them.
Seeing this, the expert bellowed, his gauntleted hands shooting forward in an attempt to grab Chen Pingchuan's arms.
Chen Pingchuan sneered. He twisted like a phantom, easily evading the attack. In the same motion, he appeared beside the corpse of the enemy he'd just killed and yanked the long saber free. Then, he swung the saber, sending a razor-sharp wave of saber qi slashing toward his opponent.
"Eat my blade!"
