Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 140: Pest
Chapter 140: Pest
"Don’t be afraid, come here, little Koby," Grandpa Caldwell said gently, urging him not to look at the pests and to come closer to them.
Little Koby ran as fast as he could and hid behind Grandpa Caldwell.
There were many pests crawling on the balcony, which frightened him greatly.
"Bwother Koby, come hewe," Little Mia called, wanting to hide along with her friends.
Elena didn’t let them enter the space, believing that they needed to acclimate to it and learn to adapt to this kind of disaster.
Afterwards, everyone quickly sprang into action.
Elena retrieved a handful of pesticide that she had brought earlier and handed it to them to apply around the balcony door.
"Once you’re done, go check the corridor and assess the situation," Grandpa Caldwell instructed, worried they might be besieged if they didn’t take action outside their unit.
"Alright, let’s spray pesticide in the corridor. And let’s check our unit too. Remember, don’t let those pests bite you," Elena warned.
Everyone nodded and moved carefully, participating in exterminating the pests, except for the kids.
They hurried downstairs and began spraying pesticide in every corner, ensuring that the pests would not dare to set foot on their floor.
"They’re coming! The cockroaches are here; don’t let them enter!" Ethan warned.
Although there weren’t as many as there were outside on the balcony, it was still enough to make their skin crawl.
"Ugh, where did these pests come from?" Lydia asked as she crushed a cockroach beneath her shoe.
Watching the cockroaches rush forward, Oslo replied, "Probably because they don’t have any food, so they left their nest."
Everyone was doing their best, but Angela was terrified of the crawling creatures.
Cockroaches were one of her biggest fears, along with rats, and upon seeing the pests, she froze in place.
"Quickly, kill the one on your side! Don’t just stare at them," Aunt Jessa urged, warning Angela to take action or risk being bitten.
But Angela still didn’t move; she just stared at the cockroaches with a pale face.
Elena noticed her distress and instructed the nearest person to help her.
Andrei quickly moved forward and killed the cockroaches.
"Be careful," he said, noticing her frightened state.
"I... the... the cockroach just... just appeared suddenly," she stuttered, staring at the dead pest.
Xander was worried about his sister’s situation and wanted to help her, but he feared that being overprotective might only make things worse.
So, he sought Elena’s help in guiding his sister.
"Are you afraid of these pests?" Elena asked in a friendly manner.
"Yes. Every time I see them, I feel shaken," Angela admitted honestly, feeling helpless.
"Actually, if you can just brave yourself to kill one, trust me, you’ll find it much easier the next time," Elena encouraged.
"I’ll try, Sis Ele," Angela replied, still shaken but determined.
"Go ahead," Elena urged her.
Soon, a cockroach approached Angela. She closed her eyes and stomped her foot.
It was a success; she killed one! A smile spread across her face as she prepared to try again.
"See, it wasn’t that hard. And remember, if you ever feel in danger, hide in Paradise. Don’t act recklessly and confront something you think you might lose to. Your safety should always be your priority."
Everyone nodded in agreement and continued to exterminate the pests.
Fortunately, the pests hadn’t mutated, making them easy to kill with the help of pesticide.
Additionally, their unit had been modified to handle these pests, which is why, aside from the ones on the balcony, they didn’t find any crawling around inside.
They simply sprayed some pesticide around the balcony door to prevent the pests from lingering and trying to enter.
On the other hand, the residents were struggling with pests crawling in their units.
Cries could be heard throughout the building as their supplies were being eaten by these pests.
Some residents had been bitten and were now searching for first aid kits.
They hoped the mysterious shop would still be open today so they could exchange more supplies.
Elena could hear the shouts and screams as the residents tried to defend their units.
"Once you’re done, let’s open the Paradise Shop. Today, the pesticide is free," Elena instructed.
Everyone raised their eyebrows, finding it odd that Elena would give the supplies away for free.
’Does pregnancy soften her?’
Elena sighed, noticing their questioning looks, and briefly explained.
"Listen, everyone, if we don’t get rid of these pests, they will multiply quickly. Once they’ve taken over the lower floors, what do you think will happen next?"
The remaining floors, where they currently live, will be besieged.
It suddenly hit them, and they looked at Elena with profound gazes.
She wanted free laborers to exterminate the pests, and the residents were the perfect choice.
After they sprayed the pesticide and checked every corner, confident that there were no more pests, they quickly set up their shop.
When the residents learned that they were open for business, they rushed over and asked if they had any solutions to control the pests.
"Sir, do you have anything that can help us eradicate these rats and cockroaches?"
"Sir, I have jade here. Can I exchange it for pesticides?"
Butler Aki looked at their anxious and desperate expressions, he then smiled and replied.
"Well, all of you are lucky! Today, we are giving the pesticide away for free."
Everyone was surprised, thinking that this shop was really odd.
Giving away pesticide instead of selling it meant a significant loss in profit.
But no one dared to ask why it was free; instead, they thanked the shop gratefully.
"Thank you, Paradise Shop!" one of the residents shouted as he hurried away to eliminate the pests around his unit.
And those bitten by pests traded their jade for medical supplies and fever medicine, hoping everything will be fine since the hospital is no longer operating.
Soon, Building C became famous for being the safest building, with minimal pests lingering around, as it had been sprayed with pesticide in every corner.
