Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 87: She has to be aware
Chapter 87: She has to be aware
Little Mia was crying nonstop, calling for her parents’ comfort, so Elena had no choice but to put her and Mimi back in the space.
"Okay, let’s look for your mom and dad. Don’t cry anymore," Elena said gently as she wiped little Mia’s tears away.
But Ethan disagreed, telling his wife that Little Mia also needed to learn to cope with this kind of situation.
Elena raised her brows in disagreement.
"What do you mean? Can’t you see that little Mia is distressed and wants her parents?" Elena asked, giving her husband a questioning look.
"How about we call Aunt Liza and Uncle Anthony here? They can help explain the situation to little Mia. We can’t let her remain unaware, wife. I know we can protect her, but for how long?" Ethan suggested.
"Well, I can protect her forever," Elena replied with conviction, looking affectionately at little Mia as she gently patted her head.
Ethan fell silent, not wanting to engage in an argument.
Aunt Liza had mentioned that little Mia needed exposure to prepare her for this disaster. This early stage of the storm provided an opportunity to explain to her what was happening.
While she might not grasp the entire context, she could at least gain a general idea of what to expect.
He understood that little Mia was very young, but disasters didn’t discriminate by age—it would affect everyone, whether young or old.
It was unfair, but that was the harsh reality he had learned from his experience as a military man.
The sooner she was taught, the better her chances of surviving in this cruel world.
But seeing his wife treat little Mia like a porcelain doll, he couldn’t help but think that she was overly protective of her.
He had noticed this for some time: her affectionate gaze on little Mia resembled that of a mother who deeply loved her child.
What confused him was that his wife and little Mia had only just met, yet she acted as if she knew little Mia so well that it made him question the situation.
’Wife is hiding something related to little Mia. What could it be?’
Unbeknownst to him, Elena felt a deep sense of guilt. Although it wasn’t her fault that little Mia had died young in her past life, the fact that it had happened under her care weighed heavily on her conscience.
Elena knew she had to move on.
She had tried many times to find peace, but the memory of the days when little Mia struggled to survive in the apocalypse always haunted her, making it difficult to let go of the past
So she vowed that no one could hurt little Mia and that she would never suffer again in this lifetime.
This promise fueled her overprotective stance whenever little Mia was the subject of discussion.
"Okay, okay! Take little Mia to Paradise. Wife, don’t get angry," Ethan said, surrendering as he hugged them both tightly.
"I’m not angry, just not agreeing with some of your arguments. I know we must teach her, but it must be at the right time. She is too young to understand everything," Elena replied, her tone softening.
"Wife, I listen to you," Ethan sighed. frёeωebɳovel.com
’In the end, I had to listen to wife.’
"As long as you understand," Elena said, kissing his cheek while gently covering little Mia’s eyes with her hands.
Afterwards, she vanished, carrying little Mia and Mimi with her into space.
Ethan looked at the empty area in deep thought.
Ethan loved little Mia, without a doubt. However, he feared that her innocence could place his wife in a challenging position, especially since little Mia was not bound by the Golden Tablet.
Based on his observations, Ethan knew that his wife would never mark little Mia, allowing her to remain in space indefinitely.
He was worried that once little Mia was out of the space, she might say something innocent yet suspicious to someone.
Since she wasn’t bound, she had no restrictions and could freely talk about the space, potentially putting Elena in danger.
Some might call him paranoia, but Ethan just wanted to ensure his wife’s safety.
Just like those inside the space right now, he would not allow them to leave until they were bound by the Golden Tablet, preventing any inadvertent revelation of their secrets.
’I have to tell Aunt Liza about this, to ensure that little Mia won’t say anything to others.’

The rain poured heavily as Oslo navigated the road with difficulty. The downpour made it challenging to see any potholes or uneven surfaces, causing the RV to bounce and sway unpredictably.
As the rain intensified, visibility decreased, rendering the road nearly invisible. This forced Oslo to slow down for fear of accidents, prolonging their journey.
Ethan observed that the RV struggled to maintain stability, occasionally stopping or lurching unexpectedly due to the heavy rain. Concerned for their safety, he quickly moved to assist Oslo in navigating the area.
"Oslo, how are things going on?" Ethan asked as he sat next to the driver’s seat.
"Chief, the heavy rain makes the road hard to see," Oslo said, squinting through the downpour.
"Then be careful. Let me know if you’re tired so I can replace you."
"I’m still fine, Chief. I’ll let you know."
As they drove cautiously along the road, Ethan noticed the water level rising quickly. He was puzzled about where the drainage system was and why it wasn’t functioning properly.
"Why isn’t the drainage working properly? Did it get damaged in the earthquake?"
"Probably, but I think it’s still functioning; it just can’t hold too much water, Chief," Oslo replied, glancing at the rising water.
"If that’s the case, then we need to move faster to get out of this area. I’m worried that the heavy rain might overwhelm the drainage, creating a dangerous situation for us as the water accumulates and obscures the road."
’I don’t want to be stranded in the middle of a flood.’
"I can’t move any faster, Chief. Besides the rain, the damaged road has potholes, and if we’re not careful, we might get stuck, making it even harder for us to leave."
Oslo’s concern deepened as he navigated the treacherous road, knowing that the deep potholes from the recent earthquake lay hidden beneath the rain-filled water. If they hit one, the consequences could be dire, leaving them stranded in the storm.
Ethan nodded in agreement.
"Do we have an offline map for this area?" he asked.
"My phone has one, Chief," Oslo replied, handing over the device.
Ethan didn’t know this area very well, as he had only been deployed in City A for about seven months. He spent most of his time at the police station, and when he went home, he took a route opposite to this one. This lack of familiarity made it difficult for him to assess the road.
"It says here that if we can cross this area, we will arrive at Building D in ten minutes," he said, studying the offline map.
"Okay, Chief," Oslo replied, driving carefully.
Meanwhile, Elena immediately informed everyone about the situation outside, prompting them to prepare.
"I’m afraid the typhoon has arrived, and the rain and wind are getting stronger."
Everyone was worried, so they quickly finished their tasks in the space and returned to the RV.
The moment they returned, they could hear the heavy rain pouring down, creating a loud drumming sound as it hit the RV. They quickly assessed the situation and saw the water rising rapidly around the area.
"Are we still far from the Camel Tower?" Mr. Ford asked.
"No, we are almost there. Did you see that banner sign? That’s Building D, and next to it is Building C, where we are currently staying," Elena explained, pointing to the banner that was hard to spot.
Suddenly, the RV stopped moving as if it had hit something hard, causing them to jolt forward. Thankfully, no one was hurt.
Elena quickly went to her husband’s side, asking, "What happened?"
"I’m afraid we hit a sturdy log. This area can’t be passed through anymore," Ethan said while assessing the front road.
"Then let’s change to a safer route. Or we can store the RV and use a kayak instead to cross this section," Elena suggested, glancing at the rising water, which was likely at thigh level.
Ethan thought that if they looked for another path, it would take a long time to find, and they might encounter the same situation as this one.
Crossing this area, however, would bring them much closer to Building D. Weighing the options, he made up his mind—choosing the kayak was their best option.
They had to leave this area as soon as possible, as the rain was pouring more heavily, and the water levels were rising rapidly along with the strong wind.
"Let’s turn back and find a secluded area. We’ll navigate through this section with the kayak, and once we’re in a safe spot, my wife can pull them to our location," Ethan replied.
Oslo immediately reversed the RV and left the area. Using the offline map, they found an abandoned warehouse.
Elena quickly stored the RV and instructed everyone to head to the second floor of the warehouse to wait.
"We will try to make our way to Building D using the kayak, and then I’ll pull you all to our location," she explained.
Everyone agreed, understanding that if they joined in the kayak, they might just become a nuisance.
With determination, Elena, Ethan, and Oslo braved the surging water. Thankfully, they were moving with the current, which made it easier for them to advance.
