Ascension of the Dark Seraph-Chapter 346: Tidereplica Aqua Leech
Chapter 346: Tidereplica Aqua Leech
Lucivar got what he wished for.
He wanted to fight the creatures on land, and now he got it.
But what he hadn’t accounted for was the hidden fact that the creatures could transform.
Like a mermaid, it has a fluke in water and could grow humanoid legs on land.
Substitute delicate and beautiful features with fangs and spikes, soothing voice with a terrifying growl, magical power with a physical one, and this creature was the end product. A twisted, gnarly version of the beautiful mermaids.
Unconsciously, Lucivar took a step back.
He was excited earlier, but this monster was even more excited than him, and it was quite scary.
Just the eerie smile it has on its face was enough to give anyone nightmares.
Savagely, the creature broke the sharp bones that protruded out of its elbows and held them like swords, dual-wielding. Eerily, the two sharp bones fused with the divine energy within this realm, and grew a lot longer, reaching the length of an actual longsword.
Additionally, the sharp part grew teeth, turning it into serrated swords.
’But still, I can take him on. No problem.’
Splash!
As if the realm was making a clown out of him, the sea behind the creature burst upward.
From it, ten more creatures with the same exact features appeared, landing on the boulder in formation.
All of them exuded immense bloodlust through their smiling face.
"Fuck. Me." Lucivar cursed inwardly, losing the hope he had within him. "Guys, we can talk about this. I think I made a mistake. I’m not that strong. I’m only pretending to be tough earlier. What about we all take a breather and maybe think of taking turns to fight me?"
Instead of heeding his words, the creatures walked towards him slowly.
None of them showed sign of stopping.
"Damn it, fine... Come at me, you small fries! I’ll send you all back to your mother’s womb!"
Roar!!
Lucivar immediately swarmed by the creatures once again.
A fight on land was completely different than a beatdown he received earlier when he was fighting in the black sea, but it wasn’t as he anticipated. He kept parrying and slashing, fully immersing himself in the battle.
Cuts and bruises gradually increase in number the longer the fight continues.
It was already painful enough, but the whirlpool made it worse.
Beads of water that sprayed onto the boulder and drenched his body heightened the pain.
Just like Nerissa’s water attribute, the black sea’s water is also acidic, and the pain was overwhelming.
Stab!
Lucivar coughed a mouthful of blood as the bone sword penetrated through his stomach.
He was almost knocked off the boulder, but he held onto the creature.
"Krgghk!"
More blood poured out of his mouth as the serrated side of the sword saw through his flesh, robbing him of strength. His stamina was running out, and he had no clue as to how he could beat this creature that kept on coming endlessly.
’An ability... What kind of ability that these monsters have? Is it a bone altercation? Metamorphosis?’
Gritting his teeth, Lucivar raised his arm and hit the bone sword hard.
It snapped into two, giving him more freedom to move as he headbutted the creature hard.
Bam!
Due to his hardened skeleton, the creature staggered backward.
Once again, they were at a standstill.
Lucivar still has half of the bone serrated sword inside him and bleeding wounds across his body.
Pulling it out wouldn’t be a good idea due to its serrated side.
On the other hand, there are still nine more creatures.
Earlier, he had only been able to kill two of them before he got brutally stabbed.
’Just what is its ability?’ Lucivar scanned the remaining creatures with a frown, trying desperately to find its weakness so that he could defeat them and take their power. ’As long as I can’t figure it out, this will not end so-’
Swoosh!
Giving no time for him to think, one of the creatures attacked.
Lucivar gripped his bone sword tightly and slashed vertically, cutting the creature in two.
Its body was sliced in two, dissipating like a phantom, leaving no trace of blood.
’Blood... Wait, blood?!’ Lucivar’s eyes snapped wide as he whipped his head over his shoulder, peering down into the depths of the black sea. Below, another pair of glowing bulbs could be seen, watching in silence. ’How did I miss that? I should’ve known from the start...’
Lucivar clicked his tongue in displeasure.
He seemed to be too distracted by the realm that he missed something so obvious.
One that, considering his intelligence, should be easily deciphered.
Even though he was leaning more to emotionally smart, this situation shouldn’t be hard to solve.
Growl!
Sensing that he had come to a realization, the creatures immediately attacked again.
Lucivar avoided some and stabbed the third creature with his bone sword and dragged it into the water.
Ignoring the acidic water that burned his skin away, he focused his ether on protecting his eyes—as he fixed on the pair of bulbs in the distance. He wrestled with the creature he stabbed, pulling the sword out and stabbing it again on its back.
Once that happened, Lucivar held on and bit the creature’s back, forcing it to move.
He wasn’t fast in water.
Not to mention, the whirlpool is too strong for him to swim against the current.
Lucivar would be stuck at the center if he tried to swim in this kind of place.
But the creature is fast and is also fully capable of going against the whirlpool currents.
Using the bone sword as a stick, he could control the creature’s swimming direction, forcing it to head to the pair of bulbs in the distance, which seemed to be getting away. But with pain as a motivation, the creature he was riding was faster than the pair of bulbs.
And soon enough, the pair of bulbs materialized into another creature.
Appearance-wise, it was exactly the same as the creatures he was fighting earlier.
’Its power is a type of cloning, aquatic cloning...’ Lucivar grinned, eyes glistening with malice as he rapidly approached the real monster that had been waiting and watching from a safe distance. ’Now that I know how I defeat you, it’s over.’
Swoosh!
Lucivar rode the creature with a smile on his face.
He could feel the currents pushing against him from the whirlpool, and how fast they were going.
Behind him, the rest of the creatures came to stop him desperately.
Moving through water without having the necessary natural equipment like fins, a streamlined, and elastic body would be sluggish, ineffective, and slow. But by riding the creature beneath him and steering it at will, Lucivar maneuvered with precision, weaving through attacks like a predator of the deep.
Splash!
He caught a lunging creature by the neck mid-strike and hurled it into another with brutal force.
Growl!
Lucivar yanked the bone sword, veering sharply to dodge an attack.
Then, he steered to the opposite side, slamming full-force into the attack and sending it spiraling away.
Ahead, a hundred meters away, the real monster was desperately trying to get away.
But it was slower than Lucivar, perhaps a limitation of its ability that made it slow, but he did not care for its misfortune. As soon as he closed the distance, he drew the bone sword and launched himself like a fired harpoon.
Just as he neared, the real creature dove, attempting to use the black sea’s depth to its advantage.
Like a fish sensing the hook.
Lucivar had already anticipated the move.
He gripped the bone sword tightly and hurled it with all his strength into the dark waters below.
Bullseye!
Growl!
Upon being impaled, the real creature roared.
Lucivar could feel how loud it was through the vibrations that reverberated through the water around.
’Like I said... Once I know what your ability was, the fight is over.’
Meanwhile, back on the surface.
Once Lucivar and the creatures dived back into the water, it was peaceful on the surface.
Only the sound of the spinning whirlpool and the thunderous lightning strikes could be heard.
Then, a single, massive shadow erupted from the water right as a bolt of lightning tore across the sky like the roots of an ancient tree, casting their figures in stark silhouette against the darkness. Naturally, this figure was none other than Lucivar and the real creature that was panicking underneath him.
A smile tore across Lucivar’s lips as he could finally breathe air again.
Even before landing on the boulder, the real creature was struggling to break free.
But with the bone sword buried deep in its chest and Lucivar’s hand anchoring it in place, the creature had no hope of escape. Like a rider of the deep sea, he revelled in the chaos of the black sea with a massive smile on his face.
Then, he drove his hand into the gaping wound, fingers plunging past flesh.
His other hand clenched the hilt of the bone blade with unrelenting force.
"You’re finished now, little fishy..."
Shooting one last grin at the real creature, his arm muscles bulged.
Splash!
Lucivar pulled the bone blade out of the real creature’s body, and with a powerful slash, he cleaved its body into two, right at the center—separating its torso from its legs, effectively killing it in an instant without much difficulty.
Then, he landed atop the boulder once more, the blood-slick bone sword still in hand.
He tilted his head back, eyes to the sky—wide open, and let out a wild, triumphant laugh, arms spread wide as if to embrace the heavens. Or in this case, the chaos. This time, the blood rained down—thick, warm, and real.
Now that he had killed the real creature, blood was spilled, and Lucivar welcomed it.
Crimson splattered across his face, soaked half his body, and even seeped into his mouth.
But he neither flinched nor spat it out.
There was no disgust. No shame. Only victory.
He felt elated as finally, the battle was won, and it was his.
Right after he killed the creature, he noticed turbulence in the whirlpool and a choking aura.
Lucivar’s eyes widened when the water burst once more.
It was another creature, but this time, it was colossal.
Its gaping maw engulfed the entire whirlpool, the boulder he was standing on, and everything beyond. When he looked up, the sky was no longer the sky—it was rows of jagged, gnashing teeth descending like a curtain at the end of a play, ready to swallow the world whole.
He couldn’t do anything but watch as his entire world was clouded in darkness.
And before he knew it, he was back in reality.
Sirrush was flying beside him.
"I didn’t expect much, but you’ve managed to defeat the Tidereplica Aqua Leech. Well-done. I thought you’d get depressed there, but you didn’t."
