The stream came on live, and Kai immediately got to work. He summoned his main sword, and that was all, no other gear yet; he didn’t want to use everything from the get-go.

Next, he set, for the first time, a title for the stream.

[Surviving a town raid]

He needed it to act as some sort of banner to make people want to join in.

"Alright, everything is set up, now to find Mira." He said, only to suddenly feel a tug from behind. He turned around and saw Mira standing there with Cuddles in her hands, bright eyes and a smile on her face.

Kai immediately heaved a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness you are fine, I almost started panicking." Kai said.

"I was also worried for you," Mira said. She looked up into the sky, looking as the flame was getting closer.

"Yeah, we should get out of the open." Kai said, grabbing her hand and pulling her into an alleyway.

The fireballs slammed into the ground, causing massive explosions that shook everything the moment they landed. Flames erupted as houses were instantly getting burned, and cries filled the air in an instant.

The real image of Ascension Online was finally showing, especially to the young players.

Kai waited there, wanting to move at the right time.

Suddenly, the game system brought a quest, one Kai was not expecting.

"A quest? What for?" Kai muttered as he quickly opened the quest tab to see what it was about.

[Unknown Hero: Shadow_Wolf has been recognized as one of the few players that can save the town. Please save as much as possible]

[Reward: The hidden treasure of the town]

[Penalty: permanent status effect, Cry of the lost]

Kai looked at the mission details, and he couldn’t help but shiver at the penalty that he would face. He didn’t fully understand what it was, but he had the feeling it would be terrible.

"I have to save the town? This wasn’t part of the plan, but I did plan to fight my way out, so I’ll just do two things at the same time."

He turned and looked at Mira. "Alright Mira, listen close, I have to save the town, as crazy as that sounds, so I’ll need you to be behind me every moment and support me whenever you can, can you do that?" He asked.

"Definitely," Mira said with a smile. "Father taught me how to act when in war." Mira said.

’Her family continues to shock me, I can tell that she is all truthful, it’s just shocking that her family would do all of that.’

"Alright, that’s good," Kai said.

Kai quickly read some chats that were coming in, there were already hundreds of them, and his views were already approaching a thousand. A lot of people were resharing rapidly, everyone wanted to watch a cool raid.

’Alright Kai, this is an opportunity to solidify yourself in the streaming industry, if you do this well, and show off as best as possible, you’ll have concrete fans.’ Kai thought to himself before stepping out, gripping his sword tight, eyes filled with a burning conviction.

The air smelt of burnt wood, the NPCs had all scattered, there was barely anyone on the street. Most of the players were hiding or running, they knew they were outclassed here.

Kai didn’t care though, he stepped forward, slowly twisting his wrist to loosen it up.

The raiders broke through the walls, entering the town easily, riding on their bulls.

One of the raiders spotted Kai walking forward, he instantly knew Kai was a player.

He called out to the raiders beside him, "Haha, come see, seems we have a hero." He said.

"Hahahahaha." The men burst into hearty laughter. They all knew that no strong player would be in this town, so Kai was a weak person trying to act strong.

Then the one to the left spotted the sword in his hands and pointed at it. "Look at his sword, it looks crazy expensive." He said, greed showing in his eyes.

"Haha, I’m sure he is someone with some money, probably bought it and now feels like he is strong." The raider to the right said.

"I’m going to get the blade, if I give it to the boss’s daughter, she’ll definitely get interested in me." The one in the center said. He was a pretty standard-looking man, with absolutely no special features, black hair and eyes, just average.

"Bro, you still have dreams of dating the boss’s daughter? Bro, she is way out of your league, that girl is the best prodigy of this game, her sword skill shocks even the boss." The one to the left said, mocking his fellow raider.

The raider frowned, "Screw off, I’m not going to give up on my love, and I’m sure a sword like that will get her attention." He said and then pulled on the reins of the bull, immediately making the bull charge ahead at Kai.

Kai looked at the approaching bull and smirked, he didn’t do anything and simply watched.

The raider saw the calm look on the face of Kai and this pissed him off extremely.

"Ahhh, being a cocky brat right? I’ll trample you under my feet." He roared as he rode.

"Mira, to the side now." Kai said. She nodded and immediately moved to the side, getting out of the way.

Kai gripped his sword and then charged ahead, running at a steady pace. His appraisal eyes turned on as he looked at the bull.

He wasn’t looking for any detail or anything else, he simply wanted to find the weakness of the bull.
