Chapter 395 - 394: Solwyn

These changes occurred in mere moments. Before the wave of attacks could reach them, a brighter flash erupted from the fusion, followed by a booming blast. A mixture of various energies exploded outward, destroying everything in its vicinity, including the attacks coming their way.

The trees shook violently as hot air rushed outward, and some of the more unfortunate ones near the epicenter were snapped in two. The blast was so strong that the elves had to brace themselves and shield their eyes from the dust and debris.

When the dust finally settled, they raised their eyes to the sky, only to find Sol and Thorwyn gone. In their place stood a ten-foot-tall humanoid figure. Its entire body was covered in white fur streaked with jagged black stripes. A long, thick tail swayed behind it, crackling faintly with residual electricity. Its face was surprisingly more human than beast, with a short snout, silver eyes, and a short mane of pale silver hair cascading down its neck.

Upon seeing this new form, the elves could feel the raw power radiating from it, causing more than one to take a cautious step back.

"What in the gods'... What are they?" Simina mumbled to herself in shock. Because the others were silent, everyone heard her, and no one had an answer.

Except for one.

The beastkin looked over itself, flexing its muscular arms that ended in sharp claws. Smirking, it muttered, "See? I told you you wouldn't end up as an arm."

It turned to the elves. "And as for what are we?" The wolfkin grinned, and then vanished from the sky in a ray of lightning, leaving only a faint mist behind.

The elves' eyes widened as they turned to find where it had gone, only to see it standing right next to them, one clawed hand resting lightly on Jendar's shoulder.

Jendar froze. He could feel the claws digging slightly into his leather vest. He craned his neck up at the towering beastkin, who smiled down at him.

"You can call us... Solwyn."

Jendar tried to wrench himself free but couldn't break the grip. "Shit! Attack!"

Urthl, the closest, raised his hammer, but hesitated. "You're standing right next to them!"

Solwyn tilted their head, amused by the hesitation. "Go on. If you swing, I can guarantee you'll hit something." they taunted.

Urthl grit his teeth but didn't strike. After what he'd just seen, he wasn't confident he could move fast enough. His law technique wasn't specialized in speed or precision to begin with.

Seeing his hesitation, Solwyn gave a flick of the wrist and launched Jendar into the air like a ragdoll. The elf tumbled across the ground like a pebble skimming over water before crashing into the underbrush with a grunt of pain.

The other elves sprang into action.

"Surround them!" Simina shouted, already weaving a quick incantation. "[Lance of Purity]!"

A concentrated beam of searing light shot toward Solwyn, but they shifted effortlessly, reappearing a few meters away. The elves immediately adjusted, redirecting their attacks.

As the new wave of spells closed in, Solwyn casually glanced at the new system message that appeared:

[Harmony: 98%]

Reading the percentage, a voice that sounded like Sol's echoed in their shared mind. 'Only 98%? I think your fear of becoming an arm again played into that.'

'I'm sorry... I really didn't like it last time.' A younger sounding voice responded, Thorwyn's. No longer limited by his original body, he could speak their language directly.

While Sol had explained the plan in advance, Thorwyn hadn't been thrilled. His last fusion had been with Varek, who forced it upon him and left him with no control. Though he trusted Sol, the memory was traumatic. Still, he had agreed if it meant helping Amber.

'It's okay, don't worry about it. But it seems like Harmony is more than just sharing attributes and skills...'

Comparing their current fusion to what he'd seen during Varek's, Sol assumed Varek had reached the bare minimum of 75% harmony because Thorwyn's head had awkwardly replaced an arm back then. But at 98%, their bodies were fully fused, and though their minds remained distinct, their coordination was near perfect. Sol suspected that a full [Harmonious Fusion], which was up to 150%, would result in a complete merging of mind and body. But in a way, this was a blessing in disguise.

'Let's focus on the fight. You take control of our body, I'll handle the magic and support.'

Two minds in one body. The perfect opportunity to split responsibilities.

Thorwyn nodded mentally, excited to take the reins. 'Got it! And no killing, right?'

'Right.' Sol thought. 'But let them know we can if we want to.'

With their plan in place, Solwyn moved again.

They shot forward, a blur of white lightning. Talma unleashed a slicing arc of wind, but Solwyn leapt over it mid-run, twisting midair and landing behind her with a wink.

"Boo!"

Talma screamed and flung herself back, barely dodging a sweeping kick.

Before she hit the ground, Solwyn was already gone.

Kinrel's vines burst from the earth, but Solwyn wove through them like a dancer, dodging effortlessly.

"Can't catch me~!"

A torrent of water surged from the side. Solwyn slowed just enough to let it get close, then grinned.

He activated [Spectral Claw], causing their already large claws to triple in size. With a single swipe, they cleaved the torrent in two.

Solwyn looked at their claws with sparkling eyes. "Cool!"

"Gotcha!" Figmar shouted, launching a flurry of ice spikes from all directions, aimed precisely at the moment Solwyn had slowed down.

Before the spikes could land, ten magic hands, now white furred and with claws, appeared around Solwyn, releasing pillars of flame in all directions that melted the projectiles instantly.

'Thanks!' Solwyn called out.

'No problem.' Sol replied in their mind, flashing a mental thumbs-up. 'But don't play around too much and get caught like that again. Keep the pressure on them while I prepare a big spell.'

"Okay!" Solwyn replied aloud, as they raised an arm to catch the hammer that aimed at their head.

Urthl, gripping the other end, tried to yank it free, but couldn't.

"Let! Go!" Urthl roared, furious. He couldn't believe he was losing in raw strength, his greatest pride.

Solwyn's grin widened. "If you say so!"

They suddenly released the weapon, causing Urthl to stumble backward uncontrollably. Before he could regain balance, he was caught by their claws.

"W-wait—!" Urthl was going to plead for his life but was unable to do so as he was suddenly hurled towards Kinrel like a projectile.

Kinrel summoned vines to catch him, but they only managed to slow him down. Urthl crashed into him with a thud, sending them both tumbling.

Watching this unfold, Simina narrowed her eyes.

"They're playing with us..."
