Attribute Farming System-Chapter 55: Are You Willing To Give Your Soul To The DEVIL?

Unless one took the greatly unfavorable path of Body Cultivation, by the time a cultivator reached the Soul Formation Realm, every Attribute that wasn't Energy became a thing of the past.

In the end, Energy alone could enhance physical strength, improve defenses, or increase movement speed. There was no need for the other stats because they could all be indirectly and more efficiently utilized through the Energy Attribute.

Think of a Battle Mage—one that wasn't limited to just long-range combat.

That was a High-level Cultivator.

That was Rayzer—the human genius who secluded himself for hundreds of years and peacefully cultivated.

[But then there was Knox Falazar—a madlad who was not limited to Energy superiority—and all due to the existence of the mightiest and kindest System in the Omni-Verse!]

[That's what you were thinking, wasn't it? Hihi~]

"Most definitely not," Knox said out loud, sounding like a crazy person. "I think you're delusional."

[I'm only Delulu for you, Dear Host~]

[You and Ryan Reynolds—]

"Be quiet now," he muttered. "I'm thinking."

Rayzer: "...."

The longer time pressed forward, the more Rayzer began to believe that his cellmate truly was mentally unstable…

And he wouldn't even be wrong…

After a brief pause, Knox spoke again. "Say, buddy," he said. "Do you have any idea how many Soul Formation Realm Beasties are in this castle?"

Rayzer deeply sighed, already having given up on convincing his deranged roommate not to do something stupid. Nothing he could say would get through to him anyway.

"…Including the Cobra Empress, there are five Soul Formation Realm Beast-kin in her castle," he stated, slightly surprised to see a decently attractive man walk through a wall. "The Cobra Empress is the only Beast Emperor here, whereas the other four are her Demonic Generals. They possess no intelligence of their own, simply following the orders of their master. Moreover, they aren't as strong as a normal Early Soul Formation Realm Cultivator. This doesn't mean they won't still be a challenge, but—"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Knox interrupted as he slashed out with an Intent Sword. "All I wanted to know was how many there were. As for dealing with them, just leave everything to me."

*Clang, Clang!*

Rayzer's chains dropped to the ground with resounding clangs. More than the sound they made, it was what they represented that truly set his heart ablaze. A heavenly, freeing energy washed over him, making his heart feel countless times lighter.

It was as if hundreds of years' worth of solitude had been lifted off his chest all at once.

"How invigorating!" Rayzer exclaimed as his Innate Energy Sea felt the change of the tides for the first time in centuries. "I never thought I'd see freedom again. But thanks to you, young man, I have. Tell me, so I may return the favor one day—what's your name?"

Knox smiled, patting the middle-aged, raggedy man on the shoulder.

"My name is Knox—Knox Falazar."

Then, spinning on his heel, he cut the jail-cell bars into dozens of pieces. "Also," he added, "you'll get used to the solitude. Give it another few tens of thousands of years, and I'm sure you'll look back on this period in time and laugh."

Rayzer's radiant smile gradually turned into a deep frown. What nearly became a tsunami in his inactive Innate Sea died out before it had the chance to become anything.

"Young man," he said, downcast. "I won't even live through the next decade, let alone tens of thousands of years."

Knox raised a brow. Curious as to what Rayzer was talking about, he scanned the older man's body without permission. His smile declined into a frown as realization set in.

"You've been crippled," Knox announced. "And not just that—you've been a cripple for hundreds of years, likely since the very beginning of your stay here. To fix something like this…"

"I'd need a Heaven-rank Divine Pill," Rayzer finished the thought. "But with my current inability to utilize my Soul Formation Realm power, I stand no chance at obtaining one. Furthermore, that's not to mention the fact that Heaven-rank Pills are extremely rare. Even if I were at full strength, it still wouldn't be a guarantee that I could get one…"

"Ha…" Knox sighed. "And that's not even the worst of it. If I'm right, then you need a Heaven-rank Pill that has nearly crossed over into the next Rank. To acquire something like that in the backwater Elemental Nations is…"

Realization suddenly struck Knox, making him feel like an idiot.

Smacking his forehead, he said, "But we're not in the Elemental Nations right now, are we? We're in the last thing left behind by the Unorthodox Devilstar before he migrated to larger areas to attempt a breakthrough into the Void Refining Realm."

"!!!"

"You know the god's name!?" Rayzer asked, his eyes widening like an owl's. "The one recorded in the Ancient Records!? Then does that mean… you're an Otherworlder? A Traveler who comes from beyond Pandora??"

Knox chuckled and nodded.

"Yeah, you could say I'm something like that," he said. "But none of that really matters right now. What's important is that in a couple of months, I'll be transported somewhere where high-level items are likely to be. And if I'm fortunate enough to find a Heaven-rank Pill that'll repair your Dantian, Qi Veins, Core, and… oh damn, they got your Nascent Soul and Primordial Soul as well??"

A large gust of depression hit Rayzer in the face, turning him into one big frown. If anything, he had to admit that the Cobra Empress and the others had been very thorough when crippling him. They had made damn well sure that he'd never be able to circulate his Innate Energy again.

"Well, no matter," Knox said. "What I'm trying to get at is whether or not you're willing to pay the price to have returned to you what was once stolen from you."

"So, tell me, Rayzer the Itinerant Cultivator, are you willing to give your soul to the Devil?"
