Chapter 232: “Xin Siyue, are you sure you’re living in reality?” (1)

After the funeral was over, Chen Junxing asked her about her plans after this.

When Xin Siyue thought back to the phone calls asking her about her considerations on the house and when she was going to complete the formalities. So, she said, “I’m going back to J City.”

Hearing that, Chen Junxing looked at her with a meaningful glance.

Of course, there was no way Xin Siyue would not realize that he was no longer treating her as just a normal friend. So, she explained, ‘There’s no reason for it, I just picked out a house last time that I’m planning to settle down in. So I’ll probably head back there and develop my career.”

Chen Junxing smiled. “The developments in J City has been going well these years. My house is there too.”

“Oh.”

“Mhm, you’re welcome to visit.”

“Thank you.”

Chen Junxing had originally planned to book her plane ticket together with his, but Xin Siyue felt that she would be more comfortable going back alone, so she politely declined.

Chen Junxing seemed to have understood something from her rejection. In a gentlemanly manner, he said to her, “Take care. When you arrive, just give me a call if you need any help.”

“Thanks.” Even though Xin Siyue thanked him, she had never given him her phone number.

Chen Junxing seemed to have disappeared as well and never took the initiative to contact her.

After arriving in J City and completing the formalities for her house, Xin Siyue began job hunting. She was quite successful in that venture, and she was hired a few days later by a magazine publisher as a reporter, and Xin Siyue was also brave enough to try a new career. Even though there was a lot of work, Xin Siyue’s abilities were great all-round, so she was able to adapt very quickly to it.

The next time she saw Chen Junxing was in a famous restaurant in J City.

That evening, the editor-in-chief of the publishing house was treating everyone for dinner. When Xin Siyue was waiting at the hall to leave with one of her colleagues, she unexpectedly bumped into Chen Junxing who just happened to be leaving after dinner as well.

Chen Junxing whispered a few words to the two older chairmen in suits who were with him and they said goodbye to him with a smile.

When Xin Siyue saw him walking towards her, she subconsciously turned to look at her colleagues who were happily chattering away just a short distance away. As expected, he who carried an eye-catching aura of his own like Chen Sinan attracted many speculations and curious gazes around him before he even approached Xin Siyue.

On the other hand, Chen Junxing acted completely naturally as he stood openly in front of her and asked, “Out with your colleagues today?”

Xin Siyue didn’t really dare to look at him just in case her colleagues were to try and pry some gossip out of her afterwards, so she just nodded. “Yeah, we were just about to go.”

“Oh. I had a bit to drink tonight,” Chen Junxing suddenly said to her.

“Hm?”

“I couldn’t refuse them earlier so I had a bit too much.”

Xin Siyue suddenly had the illusion that he was Chen Sinan. They were too alike, really much too alike.

“So?” She asked, unsure.

“The alcohol level was a bit high, so I can’t drive.” After saying that, Chen Sinan added a question, “Can you drive?”

Xin Siyue nodded. Then, she looked up to see him happily tossing a set of keys at her.

Xin Siyue didn’t see it, but she still caught it out of reflex. By the time the keys were laying quietly on her palm, she was stunned. She asked, “What’s this for?”

“Drive me home.”

Xin Siyue was speechless. “You want me to drive you home?”
