Awakened: SSS Ranked Soul king-Chapter 152: The right to confront one’s oppressor
Chapter 152: The right to confront one’s oppressor
Guilliman and William in the dead of night rode off together from the western mountains all the way to ravens wood forest.
At this point, the forests danger level had been brought down by a large amount due to the presence of the alliances forces, and a large number of Slayers were sprawled all over the forest.
Of course, that didn’t miraculously make the forest safe, one could still run into dangerous beasts while walking through it. As such the safe corridor had been reopened by the lead efforts of the generals in the keep.
Entering the ravenskeep was as easy as crossing a bridge.
Once inside of ravenskeep, Guilliman couldn’t help but reminse. He was technically the first person to step foot in this place for over 200 years, and now look at it, it was bustling with activities.
But even the stark change couldn’t remove the image of the then delapitated shelter of yesteryear. The spot he killed his first sentinel, where himself and the cohort gave chase of Vincent, where he fought the wanning beast moon?
There were memories engraved in this city, memories he had not forgotten.
"Here we are" William suddenly said drawing Guillimans attention. They were finally at the old devils place.
"Hmm, smells like a massive furnace" Guilliman smirked bitterly as he looked at the old stone building infront of him. He remembered this place, it was where himself and the cohort had been stationed those years ago.
The old devil had completely revamped the place installing several bulky chimneies and a smelting chamber.
"Haha, that’s just the surface" William patted guilliman on the back as they proceeded to walk into the building.
Guilliman didn’t know this at the time, but the old devil was one of the two greatest blacksmiths in the Blacksteel shelter, and the greatest inscriber in the nightmare desert clearing force.
He was an essential asset to the entire army. As such was treated rather well. He received funding as much as he needed, but when it came to the release of Guilliman he was firmly turned down.
It showed how serious klauses grudges with him were.
As they entered the building, they were first assaulted with a barrage of steam furnaces blowing in their faces. Lines of black smiths lined up around, smiting metallic materials into a myriad of shapes.
The importance of metal works wasn’t limited to weapons in this war. Contraptions needed to be made to scale pyramid walls, fast and easily built encampments needed to be made. The smiths had to work day In and day out.
"Where’s the old devil?" After descending down several flights of stairs, Willam went around asking for the whereabouts of the old man.
There weren’t a lot of familiar faces in here, most of the people Guilliman knew were busy in other places doing other things.
"He’s in a smith session in the condensed chamber" one person after recognizing William finally pointed them in the right direction.
It was a completely sealed room with a strange sound emitting from it.
"Hmmm, what do you think he’s forging?" William asked Guilliman a questioning look on his face.
The old devil did not like forging, in fact he had said in several occasions that forging was for losers who lack talent. However he was in fact an expert forger, the type that made normal forgery look like magic.
"I have a good idea" Guilliman smirked, there was a little competition going on between the high generals of the nightmare desert clearing army.
It involved the death of a particular beast in a particular area that had killed a lot of slayers. There was a position open and death of that beast would determine who sat in that position.
"Ohh?" William raised his eye brow.
39 minutes later
A short old man with a bald head exited the chamber with several bead of sweat rolling down his forehead. Forging such a powerful weapon was taxing not only mentally but Audi physically.
The old man looked exhausted.
"Hm?" The old devil first noticed William and frowned, however his gaze soon panned to a shadowy figure in the corner of his eye in the black cloak covered in shadows.
"Guilliman?" The old devil raised his eyebrow and in the next second he zoomed forward crashing into him.
"Ahhh it really is you? How did you get away?" The old man was taken aback. Guilliman wasn’t allowed to cross the portal, in most cases when he had seen him it was in the nightmare desert.
However now he was here?
"Get off my chest first!!" Guilliman cried as he looked up at the old man standing atop his chest in annoyance. The old man was small, but not that small.
"Oh oh yeah" The old devil got off and helped Guilliman on his feet.
Dusting himself Guilliman couldn’t help but sigh in annoyance. The old man jumped on him too suddenly.
"So it’s already that time huh?" A while later they entered the old devils office and spoke.
In all retrospect, the old man was the only person Guilliman could count on without dual loyalty. In as much as the other members of the army liked him respected him, they were still essentially subordinates of klaus.
"Well, it’s about time!! I already have things set up. I can get the collar off without even going to the castle, you just need to say the word" The old man gleamed.
A year ago, he was prepared to cross the portal to remove Guillimans restrictions. But was told he wasn’t allowed to cross over as commanded by klaus, it was the whole reason he put wiggled william into a portal operator.
"No, I want to look him face to face" Guilliman replied calmly
How words made the entire room become silent William shook his head. Guilliman had explained to him what he wanted to do, it was risky but he completely understood.
The right to confront the Blacksteel lord . This was something he could not take away from him.
