Awakening Domination System: But I'm a Slave?-Chapter 73: Good Morning Dear [1]
Soul Ink a substance that not only bound flesh, but the very essence of a person’s being.
It’s crafted from the distilled essence of nightshade flowers and the blood of bound spirits, though it appeared as an ordinary black ink when dormant.
But once inscribed upon skin and activated through the ritual, it created an unbreakable tether between souls.
The binding worked through intricate runic patterns tattooed into the flesh, usually hidden beneath clothing where they couldn’t be easily seen or tampered with.
Once the ink settled into the skin and the binding words were spoken, the contract became absolute.
A slave marked with soul ink found themselves incapable of disobedience, not through fear of punishment, but through an impossible compulsion that overrode to their very own will.
They could not raise a hand against their master, could not speak lies to them, could not even harbor thoughts of true rebellion without experiencing extreme pain that seemed to tear at their very soul.
The ink created a psychic leash that grew tighter the more one struggled against it. Worse still, the master could feel their slave’s general emotional state.
The only ways to break a soul ink binding were the master’s death, the master’s willing to release, or the complete destruction of the binding runes, which often meant victim’s death.
Most slaves learned quickly that acceptance was the only path to any semblance of peace.
It was, in every sense, the perfect tool for those who trafficked in human misery.
The next day arrived...
The soft sound of scribbling filled the quiet study, where a beautiful black-haired woman sat poised behind a heavy oak desk.
Raven-black hair cascaded over one shoulder as her emerald eyes gleamed with focus, dancing across the parchment as she penned the last of several letters. Light from the tall window filtered in, catching the sharp glint of her ink-dipped quill as it moved with practiced grace.
After signing the final letter, she set down the quill and folded it into a crisp envelope and pressed the wax seal of House Glimor into place, adding it to the already substantial pile beside her elbow.
"Sari," she called softly.
A slender figure materialized from the shadows, dropping to one knee beside her chair.
The black cloak concealed everything but the faint outline of a woman’s form.
Selene gestured elegantly toward the letters. "Deliver all of these by nightfall."
The hooded figure inclined her head, gathered the letters with practiced efficiency, and dissolved back into the shadows as if she’d never been there at all.
"Haa..."
Selene leaned back in her chair and stretched her arms above her head, releasing a long, satisfied sigh.
She rose gracefully from the chair; her deep green gown flowed like water with each movement as she stepped toward the open window, the breeze carrying the fresh scent of blooming jasmine and roses from the gardens below.
The wind caressed her face, tousling her hair slightly, yet only adding to her allure.
Raising her right arm, she gazed at the glowing tattoo that shimmered faintly against her pale skin.
A slow smirk curved her lips as she leaned against the window frame.
"Now... time for the final step."
********
"Haaa..." Alaric’s breath misted in the cool morning air as he sat cross-legged in the cottage’s backyard.
It was early morning.
The his deep crimson eyes fluttered open.
Rising to his feet, he ran a hand through his damp, dark hair.
His linen shirt clung to his lean frame, darkened with sweat from hours of practice.
"This has to work now," he muttered, flexing his fingers as he studied his hands.
He closed his eyes.
Focus.
Slowly, deliberately, he began to channel his essence.
A small fireball flickered to life, hovering above his hand. Now for the hard part, which was changing its shape.
The flame wavered, stretched... and collapsed into nothing.
"It’s harder than I imagined," he muttered, wiping sweat from his brow with the back of his hand.
He exhaled slowly, steadying his breathing, and tried again. The fire sparked to life, held for a heartbeat, then fizzled out once more.
Again.
His jaw clenched with determination as he gathered every ounce of concentration he possessed.
This time, the flame responded differently, elongating, sharpening, taking the sleek form of a blazing arrow that hummed with contained power.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations! Host has learned: Flame Arrow!]
He grinned and held it steady before letting it fade.
Thud!
Then he dropped onto his ass, panting hard.
"Phew." He tilted his head back, catching his breath.
Then he stood up, swaying slightly as dizziness hit him.
"I should invest more stats in intelligence," he muttered to himself.
Then...

Then with a satisfied hum, he closed the window and stood up.
He walked to the nearby bench, grabbed a cloth which was placed on it and wiped his face, then headed inside. After changing into fresh clothes, he settled onto the couch in the small living area with a bowl of porridge, leaning back as he ate.
Just as he was enjoying his morning meal...
Creak.
The door opened, and a figure stepped inside, draped in black cloak.
Alaric paused mid-bite as a familiar voice reached him.
"Good morning, dear nephew."
