Awakening: I Ascend As A Legendary Ranked Necromancer-Chapter 100: We are here
I smiled. "We have some money. But are you forgetting something, Temur? This is like a community town; anything we buy will be tracked back to us. But I know someone who can get us everything we need for free and even give us more money; let’s see if what Ryker said about buying power is possible."
"Let’s call Thayer."
For the next few days, we were extremely busy. Cormac watched us leave home at first light and return only when it was dark. His uneasiness grew each time; something was brewing, and he didn’t like it.
We borrowed his VIP cards a lot, especially for both the Black Axe and the Silent Dagger. We also received a letter from Mr. Argent; it came with a ring.
We hadn’t spoken much for this past week, but that morning, Cormac came to our room to talk with us. As expected, we were dressed and ready to go out.
"Where are you going?" he asked as a form of greeting, his voice coming out sharp.
Temur yawned. He was tired and needed sleep, but he was pushing himself anyway. "I have work to do with the Black Axe. I’ve been working part-time for them as a laborer of sorts. We cut trees and stuff."
Cormac raised a suspicious brow. After the questions that day about fighting the gang, he didn’t trust us one bit.
I shrugged. "There’s an auction going on in the Silent Dagger. I’m going to check it out. If it’s worth my money or not. Oh, and I have to visit the monster slaughterhouse."
Cormac shook his head. "Isn’t this too contradictory? You, a laborer, and you, a rich kid, going to a VIP auction?"
I smiled and stood. This morning, my black clothes were more like light military armor, but I covered them with a faced cloak. "Forget about all of that. Listen, I’ll advise you to stay down or out of town for a few days."
"Why?" he asked, as if he didn’t already have an idea.
Temur answered for him. "Because we are about to shake things up."

Kim was sitting in his chair in his office, going through his papers, when the door opened and one of his assistants, the innkeeper, came in.
He bowed. "Master Kim, Torvan just ordered the mana-eating poison we have. He took ten crates with him."
Kim laughed. Finally, this was the product of his days of carefully influencing the fool. Although mana-eating poison is good, the one the Silent Dagger has is of low quality, and it’ll affect Iron rank and below.
But it won’t do shit for Silver rank. But this is also good. Very good.
"Get ready. We’ll follow them if they manage to shake the Black Axe up that much, swoop in, and kill everyone. But if not, then kill Torvan and his allies and make them indebted to us."
Kim’s teeth gleamed. "Oh.. this is going to be good."

Two days later, two figures in black clothes ran through the shadowed night. The moon was shining, but the clouds were blocking its elegant light.
Of course, it wasn’t just a coincidence; we picked a moonless night after all, not that it mattered that much since Awakeners can see in the dark. No words were spoken as we navigated the dark alley.
Through the past week, Temur and I had walked the streets and looked for the quickest and least crowded places to use. My heart beat faster than I thought. I was nervous, but now that things were committed, there was no going back.
Our plans today were two-fold, or maybe even three-folded? I leaped onto a roof as gently as I could, and my companion did as well. I sighed silently into my mask. "This is not going to be easy."
People were trailing me, and that might crash down my entire plan. I had no illusion that the Silent Dagger might already have even betrayed us, but I was riding on the hope that their rivalry and simmering tension would stop them.
I hated this part of our plan the most, so I turned to my companion. "Here goes nothing."
And without just a bit of hesitation, I jumped down, throwing up a small ball smaller than a grain of rice that exploded with smoke. Under that smokescreen, my companion and I ran into an alley, turned into a hidden corner, and then quickly removed the cover to the drainage system.

"This is the last place they stood before the smoke explosion," one of the spies trailing us said.
"Look for them around here. They must be hiding. Do as if you don’t see them if you do," their captain said, to a team of five specialized in trailing and surveillance.
"Captain, the smokescreen is a type of spell. It disturbs the mana in the area. It’ll take a while for it to settle, and we can then read it to see their movement."
The captain gritted his teeth. One of them could read the trail left behind in the mana itself. "They must have prepared thoroughly for this. Not bad, but we know their destination. We go to the Axe block now!"
The captain and his team were to read the flow of the battle and call the Silent Dagger, the main force that was stationed nearby, when the time was right. But it still stung that they were still able to lose a target.
I waited below the drainage entrance to see if they would follow, but nothing moved. I sighed gently. "Seems the plan is going as planned for now. You can see well in the dark, right?"
I received a nod.
"Alright then!" We began to run; the ground was covered in thick puddles of wastewater and who knows what, but that didn’t stop us as we ran.
I shuddered as I stepped on something squishy. The underground drainage system ran through the whole town, but some parts had collapsed. Fortunately, it wasn’t part of where we were going.
We ran quickly into the shadows, ignoring the flashes of red eyes we saw, rats or monsters, we cared not. Because I had memorized the layout, it was an easy thing for me to navigate.
"We are here," I said. I was breathing a bit hard, but it wasn’t from running. I was getting nervous. Our plan hung on timing and calculations.
