Chapter 734: Going Deep

A heavy silence had taken over the command room.

No one spoke.

All eyes were locked onto the map floating in front of them, a map where nearly half of the glowing points had gone dark. Each point... an Awakened. Each one disappearing... a death.

Just moments ago, something had happened, and in a single instant, nearly half of those points vanished. In other words, almost half of the guild’s Awakened had lost their lives in a single attack.

An event that not only spread fear among their forces on the battlefield, but also increased the tension, anger, and concern among the guild’s leaders inside the command room.

Lana slammed her hands onto the table. The sound echoed through the room.

"What was that...?!" her voice trembled, not just from fear, but more from anger.

Her eyes were still wide, her breathing uneven, and if she took even one more step forward, she might have rushed straight onto the battlefield herself.

Half of their forces were gone. They knew casualties in this war would be high.

But to this extent? And before even an hour had passed since the war began? This was beyond anything they had expected. They never thought the Goblin Guild would have such a weapon.

But—

"Calm down." Varnos said in a steady, firm voice. He was angry too.

How could he not be? But at this moment, he had no choice but to stay composed.

Lana paused for a moment. Her gaze shifted to her father.

Varnos was still staring at the map. His expression was cold, but his mind was moving at an incredible speed.

A few seconds passed in silence.

And then—

"That was a wide-area attack... AoE." he said calmly but decisively.

No one spoke.

"But it’s not unlimited." he continued.

"If it was, the other half of us would already be dead."

His reasoning was correct. If the Goblin Guild could repeat that kind of attack continuously without limits, their entire army would have already been wiped out and completely disabled.

But fortunately, that hadn’t happened.

Elira, who had been analyzing the data, suddenly raised her head.

"Leader..." her voice turned serious.

"There’s something else."

Everyone turned to her.

"All the ones who died..." she paused, as if double-checking.

"They were all between B rank and A rank."

It took a few seconds for the meaning of her words to settle in.

"That means..." Lana’s eyes narrowed.

"That attack, for now, only works on that level." Elira continued.

"Higher ranks... survived."

"So it has limitations." Varnos nodded slightly.

But that didn’t reduce their concern, because the majority of their forces were between B and A rank. They didn’t have that many higher-ranked Awakened.

Simply put, the main body of their army had been crippled and destroyed.

"It might not stay that way next time." Daniel added, making the tension even heavier.

Everyone turned toward him.

He stood there calmly, as if nothing catastrophic had just happened. But in his eyes... there was a deep focus.

"If this is a technique that can evolve, next time it might kill higher ranks too." he continued.

The atmosphere grew heavier. His reasoning wasn’t wrong. It was a real possibility. And if it happened, they would be finished. They needed to find a way to stop it as soon as possible.

"Then we stop it before that happens." Lana clenched her teeth.

"Exactly." Daniel nodded. That was the conclusion he wanted them to reach.

"That attack didn’t come from a single point." he added.

"Go on." Varnos raised an eyebrow slightly.

"It had multiple sources." Daniel explained calmly.

"Several people... channeling mana into one point at the same time."

Elira quickly checked the data.

"...You’re right." she muttered.

"Multiple fluctuations were recorded simultaneously."

"A kind of shared channeling. If those people are eliminated, that attack disappears." Daniel continued.

The analysis was simple.

"So the key... is them." Varnos’ eyes narrowed.

"Yeah." Daniel answered without hesitation.

"I’ll go kill them." he said simply. It was the fastest and most effective way to stop that attack from happening again.

If the ones executing it were dead, there would be no attack.

And more importantly, he was the only one here who could infiltrate deep into enemy territory. His Fallens could hide in the shadows, and with Fallen Step, he could reach them.

"Alright." Varnos looked at him for a few seconds, without hesitation or objection. He fully trusted this boy’s abilities.

The decision was made.

"Get in fast, eliminate the targets, and come back." That was an important warning. Daniel still hadn’t fully recovered his strength, and out there, it could be dangerous for him.

Daniel nodded.

Lana stepped forward.

"Wait." her gaze was serious.

"We need to launch a counterattack too. We can’t just defend."

"...But we don’t have anything like that." she frowned a moment later.

None of them had the ability to execute such an attack.

Daniel let out a quiet sigh. If he could use his Laws, he could unleash an attack even greater than that.

But unfortunately, he couldn’t. The poison was still affecting his body.

"Don’t worry, we will respond to this." Varnos said coldly, then looked at Daniel.

"Go."

That was all he said.

And Daniel moved.

On the battlefield, chaos continued.

But within it, several silent shadows moved. They were none other than Daniel and his Fallen.

Their bodies blended into darkness, their presence fading as if they didn’t exist at all. They moved through the shadows.

Silent. Invisible.

Even so, Daniel remained cautious. There might be someone among the enemy capable of sensing him, so he moved with maximum care and speed. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

They passed through enemy lines without being noticed.

One of the Goblin Guild Awakened was still fighting when suddenly a shadow passed behind him.

The next moment, his head separated from his body.

The same was happening to Everlight Moon’s Awakened as well.

Both sides were fighting with everything they had. The entire area had turned into flames of war.

Daniel didn’t even glance at it. His eyes were fixed on the target. He followed the mana fluctuations. The same signature that had created that attack.

"There..." he muttered.

A few hundred meters ahead, inside enemy encampments that no one knew when had been set up—

The first target was among guarded personnel.

Daniel accelerated and reached them in an instant.

One of them was preparing mana, perhaps for the next attack—

But he never got the chance.

A Fallen emerged from the shadow beneath him.

And in a single motion, split his body in half.

"What’s going on? Who was that?!"

"Be careful! There’s an intruder!" The Goblin Guild Awakened reacted, but it was too late.

The Fallen had already disappeared again, leaving no trace.

Blood scattered.

Daniel didn’t stop. He moved toward the second target.

This time, it was a woman. Her eyes widened suddenly, as if she sensed something—but too late.

Daniel appeared in front of her and, with a simple motion, snapped her neck.

No resistance. No chance to defend herself. Not even time to scream.

The Fallen moved like coordinated hunters. No mistakes. No wasted time.

Third target.

Fourth.

Fifth.

One after another, they were eliminated. The Goblin Guild fell into confusion without even understanding what was happening. Their encampments went into lockdown as they searched for the attacker.

But it didn’t matter what they did. They couldn’t trace Daniel.

And finally, the last one.

A man with a stronger aura than the others.

For the first time, someone reacted. Mana erupted around him.

"Who—?!" but he never finished.

Several shadows attacked him at once. His body froze instantly.

The next moment, Daniel appeared behind him.

His hand grabbed his neck.

With a slight pressure, a cracking sound echoed, and the lifeless body fell to the ground.

"It’s over..." Daniel exhaled slowly. The mission he came for was complete.

Now he could return. Maybe even cause some more destruction before leaving.

But suddenly—

The space changed.

A powerful wave of mana... heavy, unnatural, targeted him from the center of the enemy army.

"What... is this?" Daniel’s eyes narrowed slightly.

Then several powerful presences appeared around them.

Multiple high-level Awakened had surrounded them.

One of them stepped forward. His aura was clearly stronger than the rest.

His eyes locked onto Daniel.

"You thought we wouldn’t notice?" he said with a cold smile, though anger was clearly visible in his eyes.

A slight frown appeared on Daniel’s face.

...He was surrounded.
