Chapter 53: Chapter 053 Emergency_1
Zhou Yongxian was also confused by this sudden change and gently asked her grandson, “Bei Jiang, why is Nan Fei angry?”
“I don’t know!” Huo Beijiang’s voice had a hint of self-pity that even he didn’t notice.
“Eh? Could it be that she’s jealous?” The old lady surreptitiously lifted an eyebrow towards Huo Jinlan.
Huo Beijiang’s handsome face was somber, and he remained silent. He thought things were probably not as simple as his grandma assumed. If only Nan Fei was jealous for him!
“Bro…” Huo Jinlan was so overjoyed that she felt as if she was going to faint. Great! They should have a nasty argument, the louder the better. Although she thought this, she carefully spoke instead, “Bro, did I say something wrong? Let me apologize to Nan Fei! I’ll ask her not to be mad, even if she asks me to kneel down, I’d be willing.”
Huo Beijiang’s gaze suddenly changed, sharp as a hawk, staring at Huo Jinlan.
...
“Grandma, I’ll go check on Nan Fei.” He was about to leave when unexpectedly Huo Linong’s voice echoed through the living room.
“Bei Jiang, your phone’s ringing. There’s a call from your workplace.”
“Alright!” He strode in to answer the call, the more he listened, the colder his face became. Soon after saying, “I know, I’ll rush back right away.”, he hung up the phone.
“What happened? Is something wrong?”

“Is everything alright?”
Several pairs of eyes stared at him, anxiously questioning.
“It’s nothing!” Huo Beijiang reluctantly glanced towards the front door and instructed, “Grandma, I have to rush back to work! Please look after Nan Fei for me.”
Zhou Yongxian replied confidently, “Don’t worry! Nan Fei is understanding, she won’t really be mad.”
“Sure!”

As Jiang Nan Fei approached home, her thoughts multiplied, and her anger-fuddled mind started to cool down. She paused, sighed, and gave a self-deprecating laugh.
She really didn’t know what had angered her so much!
Even though she knew everything, it was all from another lifetime, and she was supposed to start fresh. Yet her heart ached unbearably. Maybe it was because she thought that Huo Beijiang had never hidden anything from her.
In the past, her life had been filled with lies and deception. Only Huo Beijiang was genuinely kind to her, saving her life from becoming entirely pathetic and pitiful.
In time, this thought became a firm belief.
But she now realized, to her shock, that even beliefs can collapse.
The fault lay not with others, but with her.
She should never have based her faith in others.
Only selfish and cowardly people would do such a thing.
Standing on the asphalt road leading back to the village, she hesitated, unable to take a step further. Her earlier anger must have seemed very unreasonable, right? If she were her past self, such behavior would have been completely normal.
But she had been reborn, vowing to correct her bad habits, so was she already unable to bear it right from the start?
“No! I can’t just run away, then Huo Jinlan would have more to say.”
Having made up her mind, Jiang Nan Fei started walking back. As she reached the road opposite the Huo residence, she noticed a familiar green truck. She could clearly see Chen Qi, a familiar face, in the driver’s seat.
Last time, he had helped her a lot, so Jiang Nan Fei threw her anger aside, and was about to approach them with a smile, but then she noticed that Huo Beijiang had already come out of the house wearing camouflage and carrying a backpack.
Chen Qi jumped out of the truck and greeted him, “Captain, this time it’s urgent, the boss asked us to go directly to the destination.”
