Back to the Past: The Rise of the False Heiress Marrying the True Tycoon-Chapter 1131: Rich Lady
Chapter 1131: Rich Lady
After school, Gu Zi returned home and instructed the children to get started on their schoolwork. But as she glanced at Big Yellow, she realized she hadnβt yet taken him out to explore the surroundings. π§π³π¦β―ππ¦π·π―ππ£π¦π.πΈπ°π
Spontaneously, she decided to take him for a walk, attaching a leash to the dogβs collar before heading out the door.
Just as they entered a narrow alley, a womanβs voice suddenly pierced the air. βThief! Someoneβs stealing my bag!β
Gu Ziβs eyes snapped up, and she saw a man in his thirties sprinting towards her, clutching a designer handbag. As he passed her, he shot her a taunting look and sneered, βWhat are you staring at? Donβt get involved!β
Startled, Gu Zi let go of the leash without realizing it, too stunned to react. But before she could even process what was happening, Big Yellow let out a low growlβa warning before he lunged toward the thief.
The man, still swaggering ahead, turned just in time to see a large dog barrel towards him. With a startled yelp, he was knocked to the ground by Big Yellow, who seized the thief with a fury. The designer bag dropped from his hands, and the woman chasing after him quickly grabbed it and began inspecting it.
Within moments, the local security team from Jiangjia Village arrived, quickly subduing the now bloodied and bruised thief. As they dragged him away, the grateful woman walked up to Gu Zi. βMiss, thank you so much for your dog. If it wasnβt for him, it wouldβve been a nightmare. Itβs one thing to lose money, but I canβt afford to lose my ID.β
Gu Zi took in the womanβs outfitβhead to toe in designer labelsβand her eyes narrowed. This woman was clearly wealthy, with a bit of a plump figure, and it was obvious she had little to no street smarts.
Who in their right mind would come to a place like Jiangjia Village dressed so conspicuously? It was practically asking for trouble. If it hadnβt been for her spontaneous decision to walk Big Yellow, this situation couldβve ended much worse.
βYou should thank Big Yellow, not me. Heβs the real hero here,β Gu Zi replied dryly. βBy the way, you donβt seem like youβre from around here. Are you looking for someone?β
The womanβs face brightened. βYour dog is really well-behaved, like a military dog! When I come back next time, Iβll bring him some premium meat bones. Iβm actually here to find someone. I was wondering if you could help me. Do you know of a family that just moved in, surnamed Su?β
Gu Ziβs heart skipped a beat. New residents, surnamed Suβwas this lady talking about her family? Was she looking for Su Shen?
βThe Su familyβ¦ is the man of the house called Su Shen?β Gu Zi asked, her voice calm but with a sharp edge.
The womanβs eyes lit up. βYes, thatβs the one! Su Shen is my husbandβs old comrade-in-arms. Iβm not here to see him, though. My husband mentioned that Su Shen married a young, beautiful woman, a top student from Imperial Capital University. I just have to meet her. She must be something extraordinary.β
Gu Zi let out a small cough, surprised. βWell, actually, Iβm Su Shenβs wife. My name is Gu Zi. Itβs nice to meet you.β
The woman froze for a second, her expression a mixture of surprise and realization. Then she broke into a smile. βWell, what do you know, weβre really meant to meet! Iβm Sun Yi, Chen Yuβs wife, and Chen Xiβs sister-in-law.β
After exchanging introductions, Gu Zi led Sun Yi back to her home.
As they sat down, Gu Zi learned that Sun Yi wasnβt just the typical rich wifeβshe was an incredibly successful businesswoman in her own right. She ran a profitable clothing business, owned a factory, and earned as much as Chen Yu.
Sun Yi came from a family of entrepreneurs in the south, and her business acumen had been honed through years of traveling and working with her parents. She met Chen Yu after he retired from the military and started a business of his own.
Perhaps because of her upbringing in a family of traders, Sun Yi had an innate knack for business. If she hadnβt married and had children, Gu Zi mused, Sun Yi would probably have become a powerhouse in the business world.
As it was, whenever Chen Yu faced financial setbacks, it was Sun Yi and her family who stepped in to help him bounce back. Listening to her story, Gu Zi realized that Sun Yi was a formidable womanβa true example of modern-day female strength.
But even the most successful women have their struggles, and Sun Yi was no exception. She sighed as she vented her frustrations. βSpeaking of Chen Yu, I could just strangle him. When he married me, he promised me that no matter how old I got, heβd never change his feelings. But just a few years after I had our baby, I started putting on weight, and suddenly, his eyes were everywhere but on me. Now, heβs always involved in scandals with other women. Iβm good at making money, but unlike those women, I just canβt play the game of seduction.β
Gu Zi listened, a touch of disdain creeping in for Su Shenβs old comrade. It was becoming more and more clear that Chen Yu had placed that woman by Su Shenβs side with ulterior motives, trying to use her to trap Su Shen into some sort of romantic distraction.
It was no surprise, then, that Chen Yu, despite his business setbacks, couldnβt escape the web of resentment heβd built for himself. Yet, he was still dependent on Sun Yiβs support to stay afloat.
