Battle Of Planets-Chapter 10: challenge
Chapter 10: challenge
Tyson and Nancy stood side by side at the in the classroom, their faces calm amidst the storm swirling around them.
Emily, on the other hand, was fuming, her cheeks flushed with anger. She had just witnessed the unthinkable—her supposed best friends walking hand in hand to school.
"I must be dreaming," Emily said, her voice thick with sarcasm. "Because there's no way my best friends just strolled into school holding hands. Care to explain?"
Tyson raised a hand as if to speak. "Well, it's not like—"
"Don't you dare start with your lame excuses!" Emily snapped, her finger pointed so sharply it could've cut glass. "Don't talk to me. Ever."
"Emily, please listen to us," Nancy interjected, trying to soothe her friend. "We can explain."
"Oh, I'm dying to hear this explanation!" Emily threw her hands up, addressing the class now. "My dear best friends are secretly dating, and guess what? Nobody thought to tell me!"
The class fell into stunned silence. Then came the whispers, followed by dramatic gasps. The girls looked as if their hearts had shattered into a million pieces, while the boys clenched their fists like warriors preparing for battle.
"Wait, Nancy's dating Tyson?" one girl whispered, clutching her notebook like a lifeline.
"This is a betrayal of epic proportions," muttered another girl, narrowing her eyes at Nancy.
"What?!" a boy in the back gasped, dramatically clutching his chest. "The goddess of our class... with him?"
A loud thud interrupted the murmurs as another boy fainted, collapsing into the arms of his friends. "My queen... my angel... gone."
Tyson groaned,"Oh great. Now we've got a live soap opera happening."
Nancy bit her lip, trying not to laugh. "This is getting out of hand."
"Oh, don't mind the extras," Emily said, rolling her eyes. She slammed her hands on the desk in front of them. "Talk to me. Nancy, yesterday you said you had plans with your mother. Your mother. Were you lying?"
"Uh... I—" Nancy scratched the back of her neck awkwardly, avoiding Emily's furious gaze.
Tyson chuckled, but it was tinged with frustration. "Look, Emily, stop making such a big deal out of this."
Emily turned to Tyson, narrowing her eyes. "Big deal? BIG DEAL?! Do you know how many boys I've scared away from Nancy? And you just swoop in? You're welcome, by the way."
"Hey! I'm standing right here!" Tyson protested.
"Unfortunately," Emily deadpanned, folding her arms as she turned her ire toward him. "And you! When did you find the time to hang out with her? Aren't you supposed to be training?"
Tyson tried to laugh it off, but Emily's fiery glare made him gulp. Nancy quickly stepped in. "He's on suspension."
Emily froze, her eyes wide in disbelief. "Suspension? Since when? And why? How am I just now hearing about this?"
Tyson and Nancy exchanged uneasy glances.
"It's... a long story," Nancy said.
Emily sank into a nearby chair, clutching her chest dramatically. "I am officially hurt,"
Just as Tyson opened his mouth to defend himself, one of the boys in the back stood up, slamming his palm on the desk. "Tyson, you fiend! You've messed with the wrong crowd this time. I challenge you to a duel!"
Nancy blinked. "A duel?"
"Yes! A race in P.E. class! I'll defeat him for my goddess!" The boy pointed at Tyson with the flair of a knight issuing a challenge to a dragon.
Tyson groaned louder this time, "Fine, whatever. If you want a race, you've got one. Just don't cry about it later."
The girls, still recovering from heartbreak, burst into laughter at the boy's absurd challenge. Meanwhile, the boys rallied around him, patting his back like he was their last hope for vengeance. "Do it, bro! For the team!"
Nancy leaned closer to Tyson, whispering. "Do you have to be so smug?"
"Smug?" Tyson smirked. "It's not my fault they're delusional."
Before Nancy could retort, the classroom door slid open, and a collective gasp swept through the room.
Alex stood there, his bag slung casually over his shoulder, a confident smirk on his face.
The girls immediately broke into excited whispers, some even squealing.
"It's him! Alex is here!"
"He's so cool," one girl whispered dreamily, clutching her hands to her chest.
"I'm going to pass out," another muttered, her knees wobbling.
Tyson clenched his jaw, a familiar wave of irritation rising as Alex sauntered in, completely unfazed by the chaos his presence had caused.
The boys were equally astounded, though their reactions were more subdued. Alex, Tyson's older brother and the son of the General, rarely attended school despite being enrolled alongside Tyson. His unexpected presence caused a stir, the energy in the room shifting instantly.
"Alex, marry me!" one girl blurted out before slapping a hand over her mouth, blushing furiously.
"You wish," muttered another girl, throwing daggers at her from eyes.

Nancy gave Tyson a sympathetic look, while Emily's entire demeanor flipped like a switch. Her eyes lit up as she let out an ear-piercing squeal.
"Oh my God, it's Alex!" she practically shouted, causing half the classroom to turn to her.
Tyson blinked at her in disbelief. Just moments ago, she had been furious, practically ready to bite his head off. And now? She was beaming like she'd just spotted a celebrity.
The classroom erupted into chaos as Alex stepped in, his usual confident air drawing everyone's attention. A group of students immediately swarmed him like bees around honey.
"Alex, it's been ages! You're finally here!"
"We missed you, man!"
"Do you remember me? You borrowed my pencil last year!"
"I made a banner for your birthday last month!"
Alex barely acknowledged the frenzy around him, offering a brief nod here and there as he scanned the room. His sharp eyes flicked to the back where Tyson stood, looking thoroughly unimpressed.
With the faintest smirk, Alex made his way through the crowd, as effortlessly cool as ever, and headed for an empty seat at the front. He dropped into the chair with an air of nonchalance, ignoring the chaos he'd left in his wake.
Emily, who had been inching closer to join the masses, felt a tug on her sleeve.
"Stay here," Alex said, pulling her back before she could embarrass herself. "Whose side are you on, anyway?"
Emily adjusted her glasses, suddenly flustered. "Of course, I'm on your side!"
she exclaimed, smoothing her hair and standing up straighter as if Alex's attention had bestowed upon her some divine honor.
Tyson rolled his eyes.
"Seriously?" he muttered. "A minute ago, she was chewing me out, and now she's swooning over him."
Nancy stifled a laugh, patting Tyson on the shoulder. "Well, Alex does have a way with people."
Tyson shot her a look. "Yeah, a way that makes my life ten times harder."
Meanwhile, Alex leaned back in his seat, glancing over his shoulder to give Tyson a lazy grin. It was the kind of grin that said, I know I'm the favorite, and there's nothing you can do about it.
Tyson groaned internally. This was going to be a long day.
---
Tyson cracked his neck as he adjusted his white T-shirt and blue shorts, the official gym clothes.
The sun beat down on the track as he walked towards the starting line, the eyes of the entire class following his every step. The race was about to begin, and the atmosphere was electric.
The boys stood off to the side, their eyes narrowed with determination, while the girls lined the track, shouting and waving in support of Tyson.
He stood confidently behind the line, his muscles tensed and ready, beside him two other guys who were just as eager to claim victory.
The girls cheered, some even calling out his name, sending Tyson a flurry of smiles and glances that made him feel momentarily invincible. The tension in the air was thick, but Tyson kept his gaze focused straight ahead, preparing for what would be an easy race for someone lile him.
Among the group of girls stood Nancy, her gaze flickered between the excited faces as she noticed the attention he was getting.
The girls were practically swooning, their voices rising as they shouted his name. Some even went so far as to comment on his muscular build, with a few jokingly saying it would be awesome to touch his muscles.
Nancy's fingers tightened around the edge of her water bottle, her expression momentarily clouded with something she wasn't sure she wanted to admit—jealousy.
She had always known Tyson was popular, but seeing the girls fawn over him like this stirred a strange mix of emotions she wasn't quite prepared for.
Her eyes flicked to Tyson, who was oblivious to the scene unfolding. His focus was solely on the race, his determination visible as he took his place at the starting line.
The boys, although attempting to rally behind the other racers, knew deep down that the outcome was a foregone conclusion. No one in their class had ever beaten Tyson in any sport—whether it was the 100-meter dash, basketball, or any other challenge. Tyson had always been at the top, effortlessly dominating every competition that came his way. His reputation as the undefeated champion was firmly etched in the minds of everyone who had ever witnessed him in action.
The teacher was about to blow the whistle to start the race when, suddenly, the whistle slipped from his lips. A hushed silence fell over the crowd. Tyson, who had nearly closed his eyes in preparation for the race, snapped them open in confusion, scanning the crowd to see what had caused the sudden shift in energy.
And then, he saw him.
Alex. Standing beside him on the race track, his focus fixed on the lane ahead. But what caught everyone off guard—Tyson included—was that Alex wasn't wearing the usual gym uniform. Instead, he was half-naked, his toned muscles moved with every movement. His perfect physique seemed almost unreal, drawing the gazes of every girl in the crowd.
The girls, mouths agape, could barely tear their eyes away from him, their admiration palpable in the air.
"What the heck are you doing?" Tyson asked,
Alex smirked "I heard you were undefeated...let me show you what real competition looks like."
Tyson exhaled sharply, momentarily distracted by the crowd's reactions. His eyes scanned the sea of faces, but they paused when they landed on Nancy.
She was hiding behind her water bottle, her face only partially visible, but Tyson could tell she was peeking at Alex through the gaps.
A knowing smirk tugged at Tyson's lips. He stood up straighter, eyeing Nancy for a brief moment. Then, with a swift motion, he ripped off his white T-shirt, throwing it to the side, causing an immediate stir among the girls.
This time, Tyson's gaze was locked on Nancy. Her cheeks flushed pink as she caught a glimpse of him, her expression a mixture of surprise.
"Let's see, who needs more practice" Tyson went to the previous pose. Alex in return smirked.
