Chapter 37: The Bone Spear

Lian Rufeng and the guardians had to retreat to one side together, though they were all supercharged with anger.

Bang!

An arrow blasted a big hole in the ground. Dust and ashes spattered all over their faces.

“Wang Zhun, Xiao Shi, go to ask Elder Wu for help!”

Lian Rufeng screamed, nearly going mad with rage. Also, he resented that Wu Henshui stood by and did nothing.

Your life was precious, mine too!

What the hell! Didn’t he want to intervene until all of us were dead?

Wang Zhun and Xiao Shi hurried off. They knew how serious the situation was.

“Captain Lian, what should we do now?”

One of the guardians asked.

“Wait here. We can’t afford to attack him again. He is too shifty. Only someone like Elder Wu can deal with him.”

Lian Rufeng took a deep breath and said in cold voice. He would not risk his life again. Everything would be over if he died.

What Wu Henshui would think of him, he cared no more.

Others felt relieved hearing this. To be honest, they had been terrified watching their companions died one after another.

Silence resigned. They were waiting for Wu Henshui to rescue them.

A wind blew through the bleak village, bringing a pile of fallen leaves together with a smell of blood.

All of a sudden, Lian Rufeng got a bad feeling. It was only a few miles from here to the entrance, Wang Zhun and Xiao Shi should have got there already.

But they had not heard a single sound since they left several minutes ago! 𝑓re𝘦𝔀𝗲𝘣𝘯𝘰νℯ𝒍.c𝗼m

Could the two of them have an accident?

The suspect made him tense up and panic in an unspeakable way.

“Let’s go and check it.”

Lian Rufeng made his mind. He took the guardians away with him, for he realized sitting there waiting was not going to save them.

The village that he used to know had become strange and weird, like a chilling graveyard.

Soon they stopped at one of the alleys. In the shadow lied two dead bodies. One’s chest was cut open, bleeding profusely. The other’s throat was crashed, leaving the head soft in a twisted way.

They were Wang Zhun and Xiao Shi who had been sent to ask for help.

A chill crept upon their backs, as if they fell into an ice cave. Two more guardians were dead!

“Run!”

One of the guardians couldn’t bear any more. He growled madly and rushed out of the village.

“Come back!”

Lian Rufeng shouted at him, trying to get him back.

But it was too late. An arrow flew from the branches of an old locust tree very far away and killed the guardian in a blink of eyes.

Another man died just dozens of meters away……

Lian Rufeng’s face twisted and eyes bulged. This was outrageous!

“Go! Kill that small bastard!”

He roared like he already lost his mind, and then dashed to the old locust tree in the distance. He had seen Lin Xun there.

“Let’s go!”

The rest three guardians hesitated, and finally decided to follow their Captain.

……

“They underestimated the enemy.”

At the entrance of the village, Wu Henshui and Han Junshan walked side by side. They had found quite a few dead bodies along the way. They concluded from the wounds that the enemy was not as simple as the expected.

“Indeed. Instead of risking his life to confront Lian Rufeng, he has planned to use the village as a cover to destroy them one by one. Surely it’s the best strategy.”

Han Junshan said in a low voice. “It’s so surprising that such a cunning bad ass would show in this poor village.”

“No matter what, he is all alone. Now I am curious to find out who he is, so meticulous and in control. But according to my judgement, his cultivation does not exceed the fifth level of the Martial Realm, or he would have killed Lian Rufeng at first.”

Wu Henshui looked indifferent and walked leisurely. Though he appeared to relaxed, his shoulders slightly arched and his eyes were sharp as eagle’s, clearly ready to fight.

“Elder Wu, we are going to suffer great losses this time.”

Han Junshan furrowed his brows.

“Don’t think too much. He will not get away with it, or I will not sleep well in the future.”

Wu Henshui promised indifferently.

Han Junshan nodded, “That’s for sure.”

Then Wu Henshui raised his head and pointed to the distance. “There he is.”

Han Junshan drew a big black sword from its sheath, and a killing intention flashed across his eyes.

Wu Henshui instead signed a slow breath. “Since my cultivation rose up the eighth level of the Martial realm and me being appointed as the great deacon of the Wu’s Herbs Store in Green-sun Tribe, I seldom have had the chance to take care of such things by myself. I just hope my enemy is not too weak.”

Han Junshan laughed, “Elder Wu, leave him to me this time. He is not worth your attention.”

Wu Henshui shot a glance at him. “May as well.”

They both had great confidence in themselves, so they didn’t even think of Lin Xun when they were discussing.

Of course, they had the abilities to look down upon Lin Xun. One of them was within the eighth level of the Martial Realm, and the other the forth level. Besides, the Kung Fu they had been practicing were way above Lian Rufeng and the guardians.

No matter how crafty their enemy was, he had only one choice, to be killed, when facing with absolute power.

When they were about to make moves, they saw a small and slender figure emerged from nowhere on the alley tens of meters away.

The figure was in a black animal-skin cloak, clearly a little girl. Most of her face was covered by the hood, except the delicate chin. The black totally brought out the white in her skin, incredibly stunning.

She was very young, but her standing there made Wu Henshui and Han Junshan quivered in the hearts from an unspeakable felling of horrifying.

When they saw she had a spear more than ten meters long in her hand, white and shimmering with faint starlight, their faces changed drastically.

It was a spiritual weapon!

The bone spear was too powerful to be an ordinary weapon.

Had her cultivation reach the Gang Spirit Realm?

It was absurd. How could such a little girl have such high cultivation?

Or did the bone spear not belong to her?

This idea tempted Wu Henshui. A fever rose in his eyes.

The little girl had not made a single movement since she appeared. She just stood there in the bloody dusk, a mysterious air surrounding her.

She was there to stop them.

“You go. Sound her out.”

Wu Henshui darted a look at Han Junshan. It was weird to see a little girl with a spiritual weapon in this poor village.

He chose to wait and see out of caution.

“Little girl, get out of the way!”

Han Junshan was no fool. He knew there was something wrong about the girl, so he decided to talk first.

The little girl shook her head, but did not speak.

Han Junshan got nervous with not reason. She was indeed here to stop them.

He couldn’t tell why he became so vigilant against a child, but years of fighting experience told him, it was never wrong to be careful.

“Get lost, or I will kill you.”

He strode forward with the big black sword in his hand, mighty like a mountain.

He was a swordman with his cultivation in the fourth level of the Martial Realm, “Orifices Connecting”, meaning his Qi could circulate through the acu-points all over his body. When he did that, he would look as fierce and intimidating as a wolf.

Before the sentence was finished, the little girl sensed the danger. She looked up, showing a pair of crescent-like eyes, black and beautiful but emotionless.

Em?

When the eyes laid on Han Junshan, he shuddered with infinite fear as if a sharp sword reached before his throat.

The next moment, he felt dizzy, seeing rays of chilly starlight flashing in front of his eyes, like a rosy dream.

His mind began to wander, so beautiful!

Almost at the same time, he heard a loud shout. “Watch out!”

He was confused. Watch out?

Puff!

Before he could react, he felt a pain in his throat, and then his body was knocked off as if being hit by a giant mountain.

He finally came to his senses, but it was too late. Darkness had fallen and consumed him.

The dreamy starlight vanished right off.

……

A chill came creeping over Wu Henshui. His robe was soaked with cold sweat.

He had seen Han JunShan standing there like he was possessed and then the bone spear in the little girl’s hand had pierced through with no resistance.

It all happened so fast that it was too late when he realized it.

It was way too horrible and strange!

A 5 or 6-year old girl had killed a strong man whose cultivation exceeded the fourth level of the Martial Realm with a long spear in an incredible way!

This was beyond his imagination. Fear grew in his heart.

At this moment, he completely lost his faith. The cultivation of the eighth level of the Martial Realm that he used to be proud of could not provide him a little sense of security.

He forgot the blood marrow grit, the spiritual lands and the bowman he had wanted to kill.

He just wanted to leave!

This was hidden with unimaginable dangers. It was not a remote and poor village, but a horrifying burial land!

Without hesitation, Wu Henshui turned and ran like hell.

Yet in a blink of eyes, he felt a sharp pain from his back. He was hit hard and knocked off before he lost consciousness.

It all happened in an instant, leaving him no time to evade or strike back.

Shia Zhi, in her black cloak, came up to Wu Henshui in the setting sun. She frowned, unsatisfied with the fact that she did not kill him with one move.

When she was going to strike again, she heard a complacent yet cruel laughter from afar.

Could that mean Lin Xun was in danger?

Her beautiful brows wrinkled. She took out the bone spear and dashed to the laughter, fast like a shooting arrow.
