Chapter 291: Chapter 291: Dream Crack

Night came, Ved and Naledi jumped back into the dream realm. The moment they got there he felt something pulling him.

Not physically but more as an instinct. He saw a dream star blacker than the others. It churned like waves of a raging sea.

Naledi immediately clasped her heart as they drew closer to it. " It’s calling me, it’s begging me Ved." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

She looked at him with terrified eyes, he had never seen such fear and confusion in her eyes before.

" It feels like the screams of my own parent, Ved what’s happening?" He too was confused.

" Let go in." While this nightmare seemed more terrifying than others, he couldn’t attend only it.

So he split their consciousness and went into other nightmares as well. They entered the nightmare.

They found themselves in a dark forest much like the one of red riding hood but much darker.

It trees were much taller and thicker. Another difference was that they found the dreamer almost immediately.

A young boy, barely 10 years old with grey eyes that shone in the dark and short black hair.

His dark skin was covered in sweat as he was running with all of his might. They ran after him and caught up to him.

Naledi grabbed him from the behind. " No please no let me go please no." The boy screamed and struggled.

" It’s okay we’re not going to hurt you." Naledi tried to calm him down but the boy continued struggling.

" He’s coming, he’s coming for me." The moment he said that they heard footsteps in the forest.

They both turned and saw what the boy was running away from. The boy screamed the moment the creature appeared.

It was a 3 metres tall humanoid shadow with very long spindly arms that ended in sharp claws like daggers.

The creature had no features, it entire body was pitch black like a shadow. The only thing on it face was a huge mouth that reached both sides of it face.

It smiled at them showing sharp teeth, the teeth were the only thing with colour on it entire body.

The moment it appeared they both knew it was bad news. This was not a nightmare constructed from either fears or memories.

It was something different entirely, it felt more powerful and more real than any other nightmare creature the herald had ever assumed.

It felt as if the herald had revealed it true form which would explain why they were in their true forms as well.

Plus the peculiarities of this nightmare. He turned and looked at Naledi. " Run." She didn’t waste a single moment.

She grabbed the boy and started sprinting with him. Her real self was stronger than any character she had ever assumed so her speed was ridiculously fast.

The herald tilted it head and watched them leave. " Will you stand in my way once more little walker? You do know the boy cannot escape my grasp do you not?"

Ved growled, " Why is this nightmare different from the others? Why is the boy of so much interest to you?"

It grin grew wider, " Oh you are mistaken, while the boy is a subject of interest, it’s not more than you.

You see little walker, you were my target all along, you and the divine child of fate. I thought why not remove the boy while in the process."

He frowned, " So this was a trap? Still, from your words it seems the boy is important as well, why?"

The herald looked to the side in a bored manner. " That is of no consequences to you, you are about to die after all, little walker."

Ved grew tense and the next thing he knew he was flying through the air with a broken wing.

He gritted his teeth, spun mid air and landed on his feet. He didn’t even see the herald move.

’ Fast, he’s too fast.’ he watched the herald closely looking out for his next move. Then he disappeared.

Ved saw nothing and found himself breaking through the tall trees. ’ Shit, how is he doing that?’

That continued a few more times with him unable to defend himself at all. He felt helpless until he saw it.

The herald wasn’t fast he was teleporting. Ved closed his eyes and concentrated, he infused his brain with dream mist, the herald attacked again and he felt it.

The shift in the dream realm was clear to him now, he punched to the side and his fist met the herald’s fist.

The entire forest shook and trees broke. Ved grinned, ’ Got you.’ he opened his mouth and tried to devour the herald whole.

Before he could, something hit him from the side. He didn’t see what it was and the next moment he was thrown kilometres away.

A gaping hole appeared on his side, he flapped his wings and intercepted the herald that was chasing after Naledi and the kid.

" I thought you said I was your target, here I AM." he punched, his fist covered by martial intent.

Since this was his body, his martial intent was at it peak. The dream itself shook from the pressure.

Yet he still failed to hurt the herald, it disappeared into thin air and appeared above him.

Before he could react the herald ripped one of his wings off. He gritted his teeth from the pain.

His body lit up with blue light, since this was a dream, he didn’t have an actual body but this dream version was a replica of his real body.

So all of his traits were replicated as well, the forest turned blue then a sky shaking explosion followed.

The herald was thrown dozens of kilometres away, unfortunately it was in the direction of Naledi and the boy.

Ved knew he wouldn’t be able to get there in time, not with his speed. " Wings of Garuda." Runes appeared all over his wings.

Lightning flickered for a split moment then black flames ignited on them. This was the divine flame.

He felt a massive strain on his mind, he knew he couldn’t use these wings for too long.

Especially since his mental strength and will were split into over a billion pieces and spread through the dream realm.

He flapped the wings and time seemed to stand still. The next moment he appeared right Infront of the herald who had caught up to Naledi.

Ved grabbed the herald who was caught by surprise by his speed. Before he could attack though, the dream cracked.

Before any of them could react they were sucked into the dream crack and disappeared.

The nightmare was left on it own and without the dreamer it started crumbling little by little.
