Chapter 294: Chapter 294: Dream Guard VS Herald

It was instinctual, before he realised it his body was already wrapped around hers protecting her.

It was a strange feeling for him to discover he had somebody whose life he valued more than his.

He had been denying that for a long time, ever since he reincarnated. He expected his image to fall.

After all he went against his own will which formed it foundation but his image stood strong.

Infact it grew stronger with each passing moment, it was then that he finally admitted there was more to it than he like to admit.

He had suspected that when he first learnt he had no control over it and when he fought Volstone and saw that the image was like a separate entity rather than a part of himself.

While this realisation scared him a little as he didn’t know what his image truly was, he was also glad.

Because of it peculiarity, he still had a tiny hope that he might survive.

While this was happening, in the real world near a small town were two women, one shrouded in darkness and another with a third eye.

" Should I not interfere my lady, if this continues he might die." The woman in darkness asked with worry.

" It is too early for that, but do not worry I have made preparations." The woman with a third eye placed a coin on the ground.

The coin was gold, one side had white angel wings the other had black demon wings. After placing the coin down they both disappeared.

Back in the dream realm, Ved closed his eyes and waited for death. He was terrified, he didn’t want to die but his body refused to move.

Not with Naledi beneath him, yet the pain he was expecting never came. ’ Did I die so fast I didn’t even feel the pain?’

He immediately dismissed that, the herald hated him too much to make the death painless.

Then he felt the entire dream realm shake, a loud roar that made his bones vibrate echoed through the entire dream realm.

All of the dream stars immediately disappeared leaving the entire dream realm in darkness with only the nebulae of colourful sands as the only sources of light.

He looked up and saw a creature of sand battling the herald. It body was made of golden sand and it looked humanoid.

A golden barrier protected him, Naledi and the boy who had fainted long ago. " What’s happening, what is that?"

Naledi asked him. He looked at the two beings fighting around them with fear.

" That’s the dream guard."

He recognised this creature was the dream guard but it power seemed to be much weaker than it should be.

Then he realised why, at it centre he saw what looked like black mist with screaming souls. The moment he saw that he felt as if his eyes were burning.

He looked away immediately, even his soul felt like it was dripped in acid for a moment, if he had looked any longer he might’ve suffered lasting damage.

However he also figured that was what was limiting it power. Parts of the dream guard’s sand body had turned black.

The black and golden sand fought against each other for dominance. Golden sand represented dreams but black sand represented nightmares.

If the dream guard turned into a nightmare guard it would’ve fallen to the side of the void and became a fallen.

The dreaming would then become a land of Nightmares. Sleeping would no longer be a time of rest for the living but one of dread.

Unfortunately there was nothing he could do, it was at this moment that he despised his own weakness more than anything.

However no matter how angry he was he really couldn’t do anything but leave things to the dream guard.

The power of these two beings were beyond immense. The dream guard waved it massive hand.

A dozen chains made of a trillion stars materialised and bound the herald. Then the dream guard clasped his hands together.

Out of thin air materialised a black cube so vast Ved couldn’t comprehend it size. It trapped the herald like a prison.

However the dream guard was not done, light exploded all around them. Galaxies were born.

Millions and millions of galaxies all surrounding the black prison. They all connected to it as anchors.

As long as they stand so would the prison. Now that Ved looked closely, the prison itself was made of black holes.

They watched everything with wonder, both he and Naledi wondering how long before that reached that level of power.

He could already imagine himself shattering entire galaxies with his fist. Then everything grew quiet.

They thought the fight was over but the dream guard still looked tense. " I’m sorry your hi... children, but I can’t release you from the chains he bound you with."

The dream guard told them with a deep voice that boomed like a supernova. It was fortunate they were protected by this barrier.

Because Ved was almost positive that voice alone could kill them. Then the dream guard turned towards the black hole prison.

His eyes shone with blinding golden light. The prison shook and rattled. One by one the galaxies started dying out.

Stars turned black and planets rotted and crumbled. After the last galaxy died the prison exploded.

Space in the dream realm shook and bent and out came the herald. He looked rough but still breathing.

" You will pay." He shouted and attacked. A massive grotesque head appeared out of nowhere.

The heard was so vast it seemed endless, however it was not alone. Next to it appeared an army of wraiths. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Pale ghostly women with wide mouths that stretched to their ears. It looked like their mouths were stitched on the sides.

When they opened them the stitches snapped and the mouths opened so wide they could devour an entire head hole.

The massive head tried to devour the dream guard who created a massive hammer made of metal Ved did not recognise.

The hammer bent time and space. He swung the hammer hitting the head on the side.

The head snapped back and it teeth fell off, each teeth larger than a galaxy. The wraiths screamed.

The dream guard held his ears and his body bubbled like boiling magma. Then he roared, his roared was so loud it drowned out the screams of the wraiths.

Before the herald could react the dream guard clasped his hand together. Space exploded and invisible chains bound him.

A sword appeared and chopped towards the herald. He created shields to block to no avail.

The sword cut through all of them but before the sword could cut him he broke the invisible chains and disappeared. Ved felt whatever was holding them disappear as well.

He grabbed Naledi and the boy and returned to the real world as fast as he could.
