Chapter 219: Experiment

Have se—

Of course Arkai Dawnoro knew this girl.

She was Cecilia Araceli. Top student of the Unique Magic Department. The one they called the "top nerd" in whispered conversations and not-so-whispered teasing.

She had done something unbelievable during finals week. She completed her magic initiation remotely while simultaneously acing her exams. Not only had she earned her certification with flying colors, she had also secured her position as the department’s top student. Again.

Impressive. Undeniably.

But recently, her name was often brought up for reasons other than her achievements.

Slut. The word followed her now, attached to rumors and gossip and the kind of stories that spread through schools like wildfire. She dated two guys at once, they said. Three, in some versions. Each retelling more scandalous than the last.

Arkai had done his research. Well... tried to. One of the boys rumored to be involved with her, Arzhen Vasiliev, had been beaten to a pulp by another boy rumored to be involved with her, Oathran Alicei. And Oathran had faced no consequences. None. As if he existed outside the normal rules of the academy.

Oathran Alicei. The mysterious transfer student. Arkai still knew nothing about him. Nothing concrete, nothing verifiable. Even though he was Student Council President and heir to the Dawnoro Family. Normally, a single order would bring him any information he wanted.

Not this time.

And then there was the third. The first, actually, the one who had started the uproar. Eastiel Edengold. Heir of the richest, most influential magic clan from the south.

To say the Dawnoros ruled the north wasn’t an exaggeration. Just as it wasn’t an exaggeration to say the Edengolds ruled the south.

And now this girl, this woman who was entangled with all of them, who had somehow woven herself into the lives of the most powerful young men on the continent, was sitting before him, saying—

"...have sex with me."

Arkai’s eyes faltered.

She was beautiful.

The most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her scent, even through the fog of his own desperate state, was pleasant. Warm. Inviting. And her body, the way her uniform fit, the shape of her—

He needed to stop thinking.

"What...?"

Suddenly, she chuckled.

It was a light sound, amused, completely at odds with the gravity of the situation.

"I’m kidding."

Cecilia shifted, settling onto the low table in front of him. She crossed her legs, composed, at ease, as if they were having tea rather than trapped in a locked room while he fought for control of his own body.

"I’ve always found a drug like aphrodisiac to be a very questionable substance." Her voice took on a lecturing tone, the voice of the top student explaining a concept.

"Scientifically, how could a drug cause brain damage just because you refuse to have sex? Also, wouldn’t relieving yourself count as curing it? Why would it need to be with someone else? With penetration specifically?"

Arkai stared at her, incredulous.

"It’s... magic..." The words came out rough, strained, barely coherent.

"That’s a lame excuse." Cecilia scoffed.

Then she leaned in.

Close. Closer than she had been before. Her face inches from his, her eyes, those impossible sea-glass eyes, holding his with an intensity that had nothing to do with lust and everything to do with curiosity.

"Let’s experiment."

She reached out her hand, offering it to him.

A handshake...?

Arkai stared at her, flabbergasted.

Was she... asking for consent? But for an experiment? Not sex...?

Not... sex...?

Goddamnit, why was he disappointed?!

"What... are you going... to do... to me...?" The words came out rough, barely controlled.

"Let me do a scan of your body." Cecilia’s voice was calm as if she were discussing a laboratory procedure. After learning how to use telekinesis with pure mana in this world, after integrating it with her own body the way Force users did, she had been waiting for an opportunity to test it on someone else.

Could she strengthen others’ bodies with her pure mana telekinesis?

But this wasn’t like taking over ambient mana. This was different. More intimate, more invasive. She needed to scan his mana, to feel it, to understand it. And eventually, to try to enhance it.

And Arkai was the top student of the Force Magic Department. His control over his own body’s mana was absolute, refined, perfect. Scanning him would be like trying to read a book held by someone who didn’t want you to see the pages.

"If it’s a magic drug, then it’s reacting with the mana in your body, no?" Cecilia asked, still holding out her hand. "And you can’t control it alone."

She waited patiently.

"Let me try."

Arkai understood the theory. He grasped it, even through the haze. But what if... what if the moment he touched that warm, beautiful hand, he lost control completely?

She was so...

Beautiful.

Fuck.

"I’ll... let you... try..."

He was being completely seduced.

His hand reached out. Trembling. Desperate.

The moment her skin made contact with his, a violent tingling shot through his entire body. His breath caught, his eyes rolled back, and he felt it. A surge of heat, of need, of everything he had been fighting to contain.

His cock swelled further, straining painfully against his pants.

Ah.

He was going to die.

But then—

Something changed.

The flow of his mana... shifted. Redirected. Suddenly, he felt something else taking control. Something outside himself, something gentle and precise and absolute.

His eyes snapped open, searching for her face.

She was nodding, humming softly to herself as she worked, like a scholar deciphering a particularly interesting text.

"I see." Her voice was thoughtful. "The drug is messing with your mana to stimulate your hypothalamus to produce excessive testosterone and estrogen. It’s eating both your mana and your brain cells simultaneously."

She tilted her head, observing him with those sharp, analytical eyes. "That’s causing the temperature spike. It’s attacking your brain directly. These veins..." Her gaze tracked the bulging lines across his neck, his arms. "It’s because your body isn’t used to this level of mana activity."

She smiled. Seemingly satisfied. The smile of someone who had just solved a puzzle.

"Got it."

Then her head tilted the other way, a new question forming.

"But this doesn’t answer why we can’t just rub one out and stop it." Her brow furrowed, genuinely puzzled. "Maybe because it affects your brain directly, and thus it knows the difference between self-relief and actual... connection?"

"Haa... haaa..." Arkai’s breathing was ragged, uneven. When she continued the scan, when that warmth flowed from her hand into his body, some of the tension released, just enough to breathe, to think, to feel.

But it felt so good.

So goddamn good that his body, freed from some of the pressure, only grew more excited in response.

"Stop..." The word was a plea, barely audible. "That feels... too... much..."

"My mana?" Cecilia asked, still curious, still observing.

The warmth flowing from her hand intensified, or perhaps he was just more aware of it now, more sensitive to every flicker of her power inside him. A groan escaped his lips, low and helpless.

"Aaaahhhh..."

Cecilia narrowed her eyes. This man... this wrecked... pathetic... heavily breathing man...
