Beast Hack: Customizing Beasts and Capturing Beauties-Chapter 137: The Flares’ Last Stand
Red Flare and Yellow Flare groaned in pain. Their bodies trembled as they struggled to stand.
The residual electricity from the Thunder Wolf’s attack crackled faintly around them. It made their limbs weak and sluggish.
Red Flare looked at the Thunder Wolf and muttered in disbelief. "Six-Star beast... Isn’t this... a bit overkill?"
The man who rode the Thunder Wolf glared down at them. "Of course it is. You two dared to infiltrate the Platinum District. One of the most important places of the Astra Academy."
The man pointed at the barriers. "Did you think we wouldn’t have defenses strong enough to handle intruders like you?"
The Thunder Wolf growled deeply. It stepped closer to prevent them from having any thought of escaping.
The man continued. "You managed to breach our defenses, so I had no choice but to respond with the best. Now, you’d better start talking. Who are you, and why are you here?"
Red Flare and Yellow Flare exchanged quick glances. They never thought that they were caught. It seemed that there was only one plan they could do.
Red Flare then looked up at the man from his weakened position and smirked. "Do your worst! We’ll never tell you!" Discover exclusive tales on novelbuddy
Beside him, Yellow Flare chuckled. "Whatever you do to us, you won’t get anything from us."
The man was suspicious about them as they began to be brave. But before he could do something about them, both flares were already doing something.
Without hesitation, Red Flare and Yellow Flare bit down hard on hidden capsules embedded in their teeth. The capsule broke and released a fast-acting poison.
The man who realized what just happened became enraged. "Damn it! Don’t you dare to suicide!"
But it was too late. The poison acted quickly. It coursed through their veins as their bodies began to convulse.
The smirks on their faces remained. Even as life drained from their eyes. Within moments, Red Flare and Yellow Flare collapsed completely.
The man clenched his fists and tightened his jaw as he looked at the corpses. "Fools. You’d rather die than give us answers."
The man then turned toward the other figure. He was surprised to see that she had already died. Blue Flare had swallowed the poison even earlier than her comrades.
He frustatedly clenched his fists. "Damn it. Just who are they? They have planned for everything."
Before he could dwell further, the silver lion growled. A figure then appeared and accompanied the silver wolf. She then looked at the man and bowed down.
She smirked as she thanked him. "Thank you for your assistance in helping me to stop the intruders, Elder."
The elder turned to Liora and smiled. "Don’t worry to much. You can call me Elder Harwick."
The elder then looked at the silver lion. "And also, you must be Liora. The one who passed the test for a unique evolist, Lucius, correct?"
Liora smiled and nodded. "Yes, Elder. I am the maid of the unique evolist, Lucius."
Elder Harwick chuckled and turned to the lion again. "Your Silver Flame Lion is really as impressive as they said. Lucius is truly a genius to have made you and the lion be this strong."
Liora smiled. "My master is indeed special. I am honored to serve him and will do everything in my power to protect him."
Harwick nodded and smirked. "Good. Loyalty like yours is rare, Liora. Protect him well."
He glanced back at the fallen enemies. "And I should be the one who is thankful. You have ensured these intruders couldn’t escape with what they came for. You’ve done us all a great service."
Liora smiled and bowed her head. "I was merely passing through, Elder. When I noticed the commotion, I intervened. It was the least I could do."
Harwick studied her for a moment and smiled. "Even so, you have my gratitude."
Liora smiled and began to turn around. "If you’ll excuse me, Elder, I must return to my master. He will be expecting me."
Harwick nodded. He stepped aside to let her pass. "Go ahead and give Lucius my regards."
Liora bowed down a bit and soon returned to her platinum residence with her silver lion.
Elder Harwick watched her leave. "Lucius, your maids are really as amazing as you are. Let’s see what heights you’ll reach."
He then turned around. He looked at his men. He gestured toward the fallen intruders. "Search them and check what they were carrying. Bring their corpses back to the base for examination."

His men nodded and quickly moved out to carry out his orders. They began to inspect the corpses. After a few moments, one of them went to Elder Harwick.
He was a bit pale. "Elder Harwick. We’ve discovered something unusual about the corpses."
Harwick turned to him and furrowed his brow. "What do you mean by unusual? Explain it to me."
He hesitated briefly before speaking. "The brains of all three corpses... they’re gone."
Harwick, who heard it, was surprised. "What do you mean that their brains are gone?"
His man tried to maintain his composure. "I mean, their heads were cut open recently and their breains were removed. There’s no doubt that it was done when you were talking to Liora."
Elder Harwick frowned and tightened his fist. "Damn it. To think that there was another intruder. He must be stronger and more skilled to be undetected to me."
He turned to his man again. "This wasn’t just a coincidence. Whoever it was wanted to ensure that no information could be extracted from these bodies. They’ve covered their tracks thoroughly."
His man nodded. "That’s not all, Elder. We also found nothing on them. Even their spatial rings are gone. It seems the fourth party not only took their brain but also their rings."
Harwick frustatedly tightened his jaw. He turned away briefly. "Damn it. They were one step ahead of us the whole time."
He turned back to his men. "Bring the bodies back regardless. I want a full report on what you find. Keep your eyes open, as whoever did this may still be in the district."
His men nodded and moved quickly to carry out his orders. Harwick mounted the Thunder Wolf once more and went to another area for another inspection.
