Ragnar leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. He looked at Anselm. "By the way, why am I even here? None of my people or my estate has been attacked."

Karion’s eyes narrowed as he turned toward Ragnar. "Of course not. You don’t have any bases to be attacked. All you have is that one estate you call home."

Ragnar burst into laughter. "Exactly. One estate. Easier to protect, less to worry about. No troublesome hubs to manage or lose."

Karion’s fists clenched at Ragnar’s dismissive attitude, but before he could respond, Ragnar continued. "So, if nothing of mine has been touched, can I go now? I don’t see why I should waste my time here."

Anselm raised his hand to stop him. "Don’t leave yet, Patriarch Ragnar. You’re the strongest Tamer I know. We need someone like you to handle them."

Ragnar’s smirk faded slightly. He was annoyed. "Handle them? I don’t even know who they are. How do you expect me to deal with an enemy I’ve never seen?"

Without waiting for an answer, Ragnar stood up. He didn’t hesitate as he turned toward the door.

Before exiting, he paused and glanced over his shoulder. "The Volcaria family is the strongest. We handle fights. If you manage to find them, then you can call me."

He also warned them for the last time. "But if you’re still playing guessing games, don’t bother wasting my time."

Anselm frowned. He was slightly frustated with Ragnar. Karion, on the other hand, couldn’t hide his anger. But he knew better than to start an argument he couldn’t win.

The door closed behind Ragnar. Anselm let out a quiet sigh. His fingers tapped the edge of the table thoughtfully. "He’s as stubborn as ever."

Karion growled under his breath. "That arrogant bastard. Always thinking he’s above everyone else."

Anselm glanced at Karion. "We’ll find them. And when we do, Ragnar will have no choice but to fight."

Karion clenched his fists but said nothing, his mind already racing with thoughts of revenge. Both to Volcaria and the Mysterious group.

Ragnar returned to his estate just as the night settled over the volcanic landscape. Without wasting any time, he made his way to the grand dining room.

He was tired from the earlier meeting, but as he entered the room, he was greeted by an unexpected sight.

Lucius was actually sitting on the long dining table. He was currently dining with his wife, Savra.

Ragnar immediately smiled and walked toward him. "Lucius. I never thought I’d see you here tonight. It’s good to see you."

Lucius turned around and smirked when he saw Ragnar. "Good to see you too, Patriarch Ragnar. I thought I’d stop by."

Ragnar chuckled. "So, you’re already a Platinum student now, huh? That explains why you can come and go as you please."

Lucius nodded. "As expected of you, Patriarch. You seemed to already know what’s going on."

Ragnar chuckled. He had become more relaxed now. However, before he could respond, Savra immediately turned to him.

Savra was curious about what Ragnar did earlier. "What about the meeting you mentioned earlier?"

Ragnar was now frustated as he barked. "It was a waste of time. The whole thing was because of that damned mysterious group."

Savra arched an eyebrow. She knew that Ragnar was a bit irritated but still asked. "What were they talking about?"

Ragnar’s frown deepened, and he crossed his arms over his broad chest. "That fool Karion Kryndal was whining because one of his precious hubs got destroyed."

He then disdainfully continued. "And if that wasn’t bad enough, Minister Anselm was also whining because one of the count families got wiped out."

Savra only smiled after hearing that. She also tried to guess the outcome. "Let me guess—they wanted you to handle it?"

Ragnar irritatably snorted. "Exactly. We Volcarias fight. That’s what we do. But how the hell am I supposed to handle an enemy I don’t know?"

Ragnar pointed his head and barked. "They don’t even have a clue who’s behind it or where to find them, yet they expect me to take care of it."

Savra shook her head slightly and sighed. She was disdainful toward them. "It seems the Kryndals and the minister haven’t gotten any smarter.

Ragnar let out another sigh. He rubbed his temple as he tried to heal his headache. "Yeah. It makes me wonder if it was a good idea to be tied to this empire in the first place."

Lucius leaned back slightly. He watched Ragnar with interest. "Sounds like they’re asking you to fight shadows. No clear enemy and strategy."

Ragnar glanced at Lucius. He nodded in agreement. "Exactly. If they can’t even give me something concrete to work with, what’s the point? All they’re doing is wasting my time."

Savra’s gaze turned thoughtful as she leaned against the table. "So, what now? Will you stay involved, or are you planning to step back?"

Ragnar chuckled. "For now, I’ll wait. If they actually find something—or someone—I can fight, I’ll step in. Until then, I’m not lifting a finger."

Lucius smirked. "I see. If Patriarch Ragnar doesn’t plan to work with them, how about working with me instead?"

Ragnar raised an eyebrow. He was confused about what Lucius was talking about. "What do you mean, Lucius?" Your next chapter is on novelbuddy

Lucius turned to Savra and smirked. "Miss Savra, would you mind explaining everything we discussed earlier to Patriarch Ragnar? I’m feeling a bit hungry, and I’d prefer to eat first."

Savra chuckled as she was amused. She then nodded and smiled. "Of course, Lucius. Take your time—I’ll handle it."

Ragnar frowned. He glanced between the two. He was suspicious about the two of them. "What’s this about?"

Savra smiled faintly. "Don’t worry, Ragnar. It’s something... interesting. I have a feeling you’ll like it."

Ragnar sighed. He leaned forward slightly. "Fine. Let’s hear it. But this better not be another waste of time."

Lucius chuckled softly as his food was being prepared by the maids. "It won’t be. Enjoy the explanation, Patriarch. I’ll join you after I’ve eaten."

With that, Lucius ate the food that had been prepared by the maids, leaving Savra and Ragnar to continue their discussion.
