Chapter 41: Chapter 40: Turn Anger into Motivation, Let’s Work Hard Together

"Big Bro! I don’t want this low-grade junk!"

Wang Zicheng looked at his younger brother’s flushed face. The boy’s thin shoulders trembled with agitation, and he was twisting the hem of his neat school uniform into wrinkles.

The Little Cyan Snake on Gu Ming’s shoulder suddenly raised its head. Its cyan scales shimmered with a strange metallic luster under the light, its yellow, vertical pupils fixed on the boy who had scorned it.

Cyan Treasure noticed the expressions others had missed. The moment that boy entered, he looked surprised, then awkward for a few seconds. After his brother startled him, his surprise turned into a rage that flushed his face red.

"It’s a mutant."

Wang Zicheng frowned. "As long as it breaks through to One-star and trains in some Combat Skills for a few months..."

Before he could finish, his brother cut him off with a stomp of his foot.

"Everyone in Class Two is using Pet Beasts with three or four-star Potential!"

The boy’s eyes grew red-rimmed, veins bulging on his clenched fists. "Last week, Zhang Zihao’s Thunder Pattern Cat even developed Lightning Tail!"

He pointed at the Little Cyan Snake on Gu Ming’s shoulder, his voice laced with fury. "This thing... its Poison Fangs haven’t even fully grown..."

Wang Zicheng gazed at the Mana fluctuations overflowing from the Cyan Snake. ’So what if its Poison Fangs haven’t fully grown?’

The man looked helpless. His brother didn’t know a good thing when he saw it, looking down on these "basic model" Pet Beasts, even though this one was already on the verge of the One-star Realm.

In reality, this Little Cyan Snake had great potential. You could tell at a glance it was a mutant with a special aptitude for Cultivation.

Forget about something as distant as Three-star. As long as it reached the One-star Level and trained in Combat Skills for a few months, it would be guaranteed a spot in a second-tier university for the college entrance exams, and could even contend for a first-tier one.

If they switched to a Pet Beast with Three-star Potential, a second-tier university would be just as attainable, but the amount of resources required would be on a completely different level.

"Alright, alright. We’ll go somewhere else."

Wang Zicheng spoke as if no one else was there, turning to lead his brother out of the shop.

But his brother had a point. Their peers all had Pet Beasts with three or four-star Potential. It would indeed be beneath the Wang Family to form a contract with a Little Cyan Snake.

Even though the Little Cyan Snake was a mutant, that couldn’t change its fatal flaws: a lowly origin and a pathetically low potential ceiling.

"Hey! You think you can just leave without apologizing? Is everyone from the Wang Family this classless?"

Ruan Jing’s voice echoed coldly through the shop as the auras of Three-star Pet Beasts began to fill the space.

Wang Zicheng froze. As he turned, he glimpsed Ruan Jing leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed, two clouds of Spiritual Mist rising behind her.

From the cyan phantom on the left, a claw covered in frosty scales emerged. As the Profound Nether Ice Flood Dragon slithered to the ground, the entire shop was instantly coated in crystalline frost.

That Flood Dragon had coral-shaped, crystalline horns on its forehead. Its scales were engraved with an Ancient Cold Curse, and with every breath, the very air condensed into fine ice crystals.

From the crimson mist on the right, a crisp jingle of golden bells suddenly rang out. A Three-tailed Fire Fox emerged, stepping gracefully upon flowing flames, its fluffy tails like three dancing plumes of Nirvana Fire.

The most peculiar thing was the Glazed Ancient Seal embedded between its brows, which seemed to contain sealed, boiling Fire Elemental Energy. Every strand of its fur flowed with a fiery sheen.

"My apologies, everyone. I was out of line."

The powerful aura of a Three-star Pet Beast also rose up beside Wang Zicheng, but as soon as it appeared, he raised a hand to suppress it. He offered a curt apology and turned to leave the shop.

He had no intention of offering a sincere apology, only a condescending arrogance.

A verbal apology was the greatest concession he was willing to make.

If it had been Gu Ming who spoke up, Wang Zicheng would have undoubtedly treated him like thin air and ignored him completely.

Gu Ming and Zhang Yunpeng were stunned by the Three-star Pet Beasts, but upon seeing Wang Zicheng’s reaction, they frowned to themselves.

Cyan Treasure, still in its Juvenile Stage, had never suffered such an insult. It was so furious its eyes seemed to burn. Its tongue flickered repeatedly, letting out a series of sharp hisses.

It wanted to lunge over and give that person a venomous beating. ’Who does he think he is, looking down on me? Is a Little Cyan Snake really that worthless?’

Gu Ming reached out and held Cyan Treasure down, calming its agitation.

The pair from the Wang Family quickly disappeared, and the shop returned to its previous calm.

Ruan Jing gestured, recalling her Pet Beasts into her Beast Taming Space. She shook her head and said,

"You two don’t need to take it to heart. He was targeting me. With the Wang Family’s background, they would never buy a Little Cyan Snake. He was just doing it to tick me off."

Gu Ming took a deep breath, nodded, and returned to his work.

The Little Cyan Snake on his shoulder, however, was still seething with resentment.

It knew its own aptitude was poor and its Cultivation potential couldn’t compare to a Pet Beast with High-star Potential. When it came to fighting, it probably couldn’t match those with powerful Talents, either.

But being mocked like that... Cyan Treasure was truly furious. A ball of anger swelled in its chest, and it couldn’t swallow it down.

Gu Ming reached out to pat Cyan Treasure’s head, trying to calm it down, but Cyan Treasure shook its head, unable to settle.

Just then, Teacher Zhang walked over to offer some counsel.

"Gu Ming, this isn’t the time to suppress its feelings," Teacher Zhang said. "We need to encourage it to channel this grief and anger into motivation."

Gu Ming was angry too, but years of hardship had taught him forbearance.

He could endure it, but his Pet Beast couldn’t. It was only a month old.

Gu Ming had only subconsciously tried to calm Cyan Treasure down. Anger wouldn’t solve anything; on the contrary, it could get them killed.

That man, Wang Zicheng, was clearly a powerful Three-star Beastmaster. Harboring hatred for him would only put Cyan Treasure in mortal danger.

Teacher Zhang, however, had a different perspective. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

’Since he’s from the Wang Family, he would never dare to make a move in public.’

’Even if they wanted to put you down, they wouldn’t do it this way.’

’Conflicts among the younger generation are left for them to resolve. Adults don’t interfere in their rivalries.’

’The threat to Cyan Treasure comes from Wang Zicheng’s younger brother, a fellow student at Qing Lake High School. He’s in the third year, Class Two, ranked among the top ten in his grade. His name is Wang Zidong.’

’The monthly exams haven’t happened yet, so for now, the new semester’s rankings are only within each class. There isn’t an updated grade-wide ranking. A conflict between those two is inevitable.’

"Cultivation requires motivation, too," Teacher Zhang continued, his thoughts returning to the present. "If your Cyan Treasure only practices Cultivation for the sake of Evolution, its drive will plummet as soon as it completes its One-star Evolution."

Teacher Zhang’s words gave Gu Ming pause.

"If you want to properly humiliate the Wang Family, ordinary effort won’t cut it. You must channel this grief and anger into motivation and relentlessly hone your own skills.

"You can’t just evolve to One-star; you have to keep cultivating and strive to achieve a Two-star Evolution before the college entrance exams. On top of that, you need to train a Body Technique to the Master Level..."

The furious Cyan Treasure was still fuming. When it heard Teacher Zhang encouraging it to beat up the members of the Wang Family, it nodded fiercely and swished its tail, vowing to teach them a lesson.

Seeing that Cyan Treasure was listening, Teacher Zhang continued to fan the flames.

"Cyan Treasure, don’t think for a second that Wang Zicheng only looked down on your origins.

"In reality, he was looking down on your master at the same time.

"Think back carefully. Did he treat your master like a person? No, he didn’t. He couldn’t have cared less that you already had a master."

Hearing this, Cyan Treasure carefully recalled the conversation.

’Now that he mentioned it, it was true.’

’The entire time, Wang Zicheng had treated its master like thin air, his attitude utterly arrogant.’

’And what was even more infuriating was his younger brother.’

’The moment he walked in, he’d seen its master and given him a look of shock and disdain.’

At this thought, Cyan Treasure grew even more furious.

’It was one thing to be despised, but to despise its master, too? That made the fire of its rage burn hotter and brighter.’

Seeing the iron was hot, Teacher Zhang said, "Remember this feeling. Respect isn’t measured by potential. Work hard at your Cultivation and defeat them with your strength."

Cyan Treasure nodded fiercely, all its anger transforming into motivation.

’I must practice Cultivation! I must practice Cultivation!’

Cyan Treasure wanted to become strong. It didn’t want its master to be despised.

As for Gu Ming, he felt a flicker of anger after listening, but his heart quickly calmed.

Years of suffering had long since worn away his sharp edges. His only thought was to get ahead in life and transcend his social class.

Still, watching Cyan Treasure’s determined efforts, he patted its head, a warmth spreading through his heart.

"Let’s do our best together, Cyan Treasure!"
