Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas-Chapter 531 - 475: Shock from Fellow Inmates
As soon as the two jumped off the Guardian Beast, they heard a hoarse voice coming from not far away: "Subordinate greets Lord Alliance Leader."
Chu Chen looked in the direction of the voice and found the speaker was a middle-aged man in a black uniform.
Zhao Wudi nodded at these words and said, "I’ll leave the person to you. If anything happens, report to me with your head."
The middle-aged man’s pupils contracted sharply at these words, and he hurriedly guaranteed, "Lord Alliance Leader, rest assured, this subordinate will not fail your trust."
Zhao Wudi nodded with satisfaction and said, "Come, Chu Chen, let me introduce you. This is Wang Chengyu, the Warden of the Soul Suppressing Abyss."
Chu Chen extended his right hand with a smile and said, "Pleased to meet you, Warden Wang. I hope to learn from you in the future."
Wang Chengyu replied with a humble tone, "Lord Divine Son, you are too kind. Your reputation precedes you. Rest assured, no one will dare trouble you in the next two years."
Zhao Wudi patted Wang Chengyu’s shoulder and said, "The day he is released will be the day you are reassigned from this place."
Wang Chengyu’s face lit up with joy at these words, and he quickly bowed to Zhao Wudi, saying, "Thank you for your guidance, Lord Alliance Leader."
"Hmm, you go make arrangements. I have something to attend to, so I’ll take my leave." With that, he leapt onto the Guardian Beast and flew into the sky.
Watching Zhao Wudi leave, Wang Chengyu turned back to Chu Chen with a smile, saying, "Let me help you take off those handcuffs first."
Chu Chen raised an eyebrow and said, "Aren’t you worried I’ll try to escape once they’re off?"
"Lord Divine Son jests. This place is filled with Soul Suppressing Stones; the handcuffs are redundant."
Chu Chen nodded and allowed him to remove the handcuffs. He flexed his sore wrists and sensed his soul power, finding that his Soul Sea was completely unresponsive, as if it were sealed.
Chu Chen shook his head helplessly and began to assess the surroundings.
Numerous Fluorescent Stones were embedded in the rock walls, illuminating the area even without sunlight.
The rock walls bore signs of human excavation, clearly indicating the place had been modified.
The area was vast, covering a hundred thousand square meters, yet it confined only a thousand prisoners, guarded by five thousand wardens, underscoring the high level of security.
The layout of this place differed little from a regular Purgatory, except for its unique position. The depth of the Soul Suppressing Abyss reached ten thousand feet, with mirror-like rock walls containing many Soul Suppressing Stones. These stones not only immobilized a Beast Master’s soul power but were also incredibly hard, impervious to ordinary metal tools.
After giving Chu Chen a brief tour, Wang Chengyu led him to get a set of prison clothes.
The prison clothes were green and very ugly, but they served a special purpose: fluorescence.
Any prisoner attempting to escape the Soul Suppressing Abyss would be immediately spotted.
Chu Chen sighed at this; without soul power, no one could escape from the Soul Suppressing Abyss.
After donning the garish attire, Wang Chengyu led Chu Chen to Cell No. 1 in the first district.
With Wang Chengyu’s introduction, Chu Chen learned that there were four districts in the entire Soul Suppressing Abyss, each with three hundred cells.
The cell numbers were assigned based on strength, and the cells in the first district held Emperor-level experts. Cell No. 1 housed the strongest individual in the entire Purgatory.
Being held here was an honor of sorts for Chu Chen.
Chu Chen observed the cell and found only two people detained inside.
However, the two seemed not to get along, as they sat on opposite sides of the cell, backs turned to each other.
On the left sat an old man with white hair and beard, his face haggard, looking malnourished, yet his body was robust, his hands covered in calluses, with large knuckles.
On the right sat a disheveled middle-aged man, his hair a wild tangle, his clothes tattered, resembling a vagabond from afar.
Wang Chengyu, somewhat helpless, introduced them, "The one on the left is called Bai Shi; you can call him Old Bai. The one on the right is Shi Feng; you can call him Shi Fengzi."
Chu Chen nodded and asked, "What did these two do to end up here?"
Wang Chengyu glanced at the two, sighed, and said, "These two are stubborn. They offended the Grand Elder over certain matters years ago, thus ending up here."
Chu Chen nodded in satisfaction; the enemy of my enemy is my friend. They likely wouldn’t trouble him.
Wang Chengyu opened the cell and told Old Bai and Shi Fengzi, "There’s a newcomer. Look after him. What he’s done is even more sensational than what you two have."
The two opened their eyes at these words, turned to glance at each other, snorted in disdain, then looked at Chu Chen.
Upon seeing Chu Chen, they showed expressions of astonishment.
Chu Chen was remarkably young, yet anyone detained here was at least King Level, meaning the youth before them was at least that.
Wang Chengyu, noticing their surprise, said with a smile, "Take your time to chat. I have business to attend to, so I’ll take my leave. Should Lord Divine Son need anything, do not hesitate to find me."
Chu Chen nodded and said, "Much obliged."
"No need to be so polite."
After a few more pleasantries, Wang Chengyu turned and left.
Old Bai and Shi Fengzi were filled with shock after hearing the conversation between Chu Chen and Wang Chengyu.
Once Wang Chengyu disappeared from view, they snapped back to reality.
Old Bai fixed his gaze on Chu Chen and asked solemnly, "Divine Son, what does this mean?"
Before Chu Chen could answer, Shi Fengzi interjected, "Old man, you came too early to know, which is normal. Over a decade ago, the Alliance created a God Creation Plan, and only exceptional talents could qualify as a Divine Son."
Old Bai, unoffended, became more curious and focused on Chu Chen.
Chu Chen felt his hair stand on end, as if being watched by a beast.
Just as he could no longer withstand it, Old Bai asked again, "You’re quite the asset to the Alliance. What did you do to end up here?"
Chu Chen, not hiding anything, smiled and said, "It’s nothing much. I killed a Divine Son, an Alliance Elder, and a clan." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"What?" the two exclaimed in unison.
Chu Chen shrugged helplessly and said, "I’m not lying."
The two exchanged glances and involuntarily swallowed.
As a Divine Son, Chu Chen had no reason to lie, especially given Wang Chengyu’s respectful attitude toward him.
Realizing this, they were nearly convinced. Being Emperor-level peak experts, they naturally were informed about the Alliance’s inner workings.
Alliance Elders were all Emperor Level, yet this youth before them was only in his early twenties; such a prodigy they had neither seen nor heard of before.
Their hearts were filled with unparalleled shock.
