Beast Taming: the More the Better-Chapter 772 - 337: The Upcoming National Assessment!_2
Ye Zhou’s voice came again.
It was much like the first time Su Ping had met this fellow.
Su Ping could even imagine the arrogant and self-assured expression on this guy’s face as he made those bold statements.
However, Su Ping didn’t feel any aversion. In such Pet Beast battles, if Ye Zhou could defeat him fair and square, he would have nothing to complain about.
After all, he was only this age. Compared to Ye Zhou, who had cultivated at the Commander Level for so long and could be considered at the peak of this level, he indeed had no advantage.
That being said, why would the successful ancestral evolution help this guy?
Of course, matters involving another person’s Pet Beast were naturally not good to pry into.
But then again, considering Ye Zhou wasn’t a Breeder and was so attentive to this matter of ancestral evolution, there probably were other connections.
Nonetheless, he still had some impressions of Ye Zhou’s three Pet Beasts, all of which were of the Time Series: the Time Hourglass, the Speech Ice Cicada, and the Annular Tiger.
The Time Series, huh?
A smile tugged at the corners of Su Ping’s mouth, "Good, then I’ll look forward to it!"
As for the Time Series, his knowledge was indeed quite limited.
Witnessing combat between all kinds of Pet Beasts was indeed something to look forward to.
After chatting idly with Ye Zhou for a few more moments, Su Ping put down his phone. Su Ping never underestimated others, let alone someone like Ye Zhou.
The fact that his Pet Beasts were enhanced by Super-Rank Skills didn’t mean that nobody else had them. On a stage like the national professional assessment, it was natural that there would be many outstanding young Breeders. And those with notable family backgrounds even had the advantage of age. If one assumed invincibility among other Beast Tamers of the same stage, that would be truly short-sighted.
With that in mind, Su Ping got up from bed, glanced at his phone, and as expected, there had been plenty of discussions about this topic recently. Su Ping quickly scanned through them, which confirmed what Ye Zhou had said.
Two months’ time meant that by mid-June, it would be time for the provincial preliminaries. So, it seems I have to make a final push in these next two months.
I don’t expect to stand at the same Realm as the others, but I need to close the gap enough so that I won’t be left too far behind in terms of Realm. However, he had many matters to attend to.
With this thought, Su Ping’s consciousness sank into the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas. He had perfected and developed the cultivation of the Flame Heart. As expected, this Magic Potion formula, universally applicable to the Fire Element and incredibly potent, yielded him one hundred Universal Experience Points in the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas.
Though a drop in the bucket, it brought him a step closer to developing the cultivation process for the Rainbow Dragon.
With this realization, Su Ping didn’t rush to get up but instead pondered whether he could enhance his own Pet Beasts further in the two months leading up to the professional assessment. First and foremost, he needed to expedite his meditation process and the resource allocation for his two main combat Pet Beasts to ensure a rapid advancement in their Realm.
As for combat experience, Su Ping didn’t need to worry too much about that. Qian Yi, with its countless Papermen, could engage in self-combat at any time. Meanwhile, Xiao Qing benefited mainly from its External Incarnation, which allowed the little creature to spar with itself whenever it pleased. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Thinking this over, apart from continuing to advance their Realm, it seems I don’t have any other training to boost their fighting strength for now. Yet there is one theoretical enhancement for Qian Yi. This is Qian Yi’s Sword Soul. It’s a Super-Rank Skill, Sword Intent, derived from Spirit Saint Level resources. It should manifest now that Qian Yi has reached the Commander Level.
When it comes to combat strength, Qian Yi is somewhat inferior to Xiao Qing. After all, Qian Yi’s main combat strength relies on the numerous Paper Swords of the Papermen. Qian Yi’s own capabilities, its jumbled Swordsmanship, and the boost after evolving into a Paper Immortal Swordsman are relatively ordinary. Without the Paper Swords, its combat strength could be weaker by a factor of ten. It can’t compare to Xiao Qing, which possesses the Green Demon Body and the double Super-Rank enhancement from its External Incarnation. Qian Yi doesn’t even have a single Super-Rank ability like Old Sha’s Heart of the Sun. Though if in its full form, armed with those Paper Swords, the configuration of Super-Rank Skills like the Heart of Great Elements and Five Elements Circulating Body could dazzle many.
However, I still don’t know whether, during the professional assessment, it would be considered regulation if the little Paperman is assembled with those Paper Swords. Would it count as a Pet Beast combat?
So, should my main focus for the upcoming period continue to be on enhancing the little Paperman’s strength? But upon further thought, I find no angle to approach this from! Could it be worthwhile to keep working on Qian Yi’s Swordsmanship? Su Ping fell into deep thought.
The problem is, how do you nurture Swordsmanship? Su Ping didn’t understand Swordsmanship at all. It seems unlike those peerless Swordsmanship disciplines in martial arts novels and films, where learning one makes you invincible; those don’t seem to apply here. After all, within Beast Taming society, there are stringent rules. Skills, Realms, Energy, Attributes—these are almost the basic foundational rules. As for Swordsmanship, it clearly falls under Skills. So, should I study those Artifact Pet Beasts?
The cultivation methods for the Immortal Bone Sword and the Extinguishing Spirit Yama Sword, passed down by the Fengdu Sword King, were still in Su Ping’s possession; he just hadn’t used them yet. But it doesn’t feel like they would bring about a significant improvement. Thinking of this, Su Ping was somewhat at a loss.
He sent his consciousness into the Beast Taming Space. Now, within his vast Beast Taming Space, Xiao Qianyi was still tirelessly practicing Swordsmanship. As a Necromancy Series creature, as long as it had sufficient energy, it did not suffer from physical constraints, so Qian Yi hardly felt tired. And this little guy still practiced only the most basic Swordsmanship. Solid foundations ensured smoother future development.
Practicing Swordsmanship? This little guy is indeed diligent. As its Beast Tamer, however, I’ve spread my attention too thin. My own Pet Beasts’ improvement... after my own evolution, I really haven’t paid much attention to them over the past two months. In contrast, the other Pet Beasts of the Heart of Myriad Spirits have been thriving during this time.
Su Ping felt a sense of guilt. After receiving news of the professional assessment from Ye Zhou, he had refocused his attention on his own Pet Beasts. Feifei’s situation was special, so that was fine. There was no rush with Xiao Qing either, since Xiao Qing herself was hardly able to fully utilize her own strength for the time being. The only one is the little Paperman. As time goes on, and the strength of the Pet Beasts around me increases, if the little Paperman can’t use those Paper Swords during the professional assessment, its strength will be greatly reduced.
Thinking of this, Su Ping let out a sigh and made up his mind. For the next two months, apart from occasionally researching the Super-Rank Skill cultivation of the Icefang Whitewolf with Old Liu as promised, all other matters will be put on hold. My main focus must indeed be on my own Contracted Beasts.
Anyway, I have to at least make it into the top ten of the province in the National Youth Beast Tamer assessment two months from now to go to the Imperial Capital for the Beast Taming competition. Only then can I properly challenge Ye Zhou’s arrogant confidence. Moreover, he had made that promise with Qin Xiaoxue.
Without even thinking, Su Ping knew that Qin Xiaoxue must be preparing for this assessment, since she had hardly bothered him with idle chatter during this time. Miss Qin must be busy preparing for this assessment! With this thought, determination began to shine in Su Ping’s eyes.
Putting other things aside for now, Qian Yi’s Realm is currently at Commander Fifth Stage. It only upgraded when I broke through to Commander Sixth Order this morning. I first have to enhance the little fellow’s Realm! Besides using resources for improvement, Su Ping had another ace up his sleeve.
With this in mind, Su Ping glanced at the Paperman Record in the Myriad Spirit Beast Atlas:
[Paperman, Current Level: LV3 (18,122/20,000)]
