Beast World: A Fragile Beauty Blessed with Many Children-Chapter 298 - 297: The Thoughtful System
Zhi Le’s expression changed. He considered himself worldly and experienced, having traveled from the Southern Continent to the Central Continent, but he’d never heard of a Beastman with such an incredible ability—one that specialized in breaking Protective Shields!
And it was his own cub... Neither Zhi Le nor Si Shuo had even had time to get dressed. The new Father and Mother, red-faced, were trapped in their nest of Beast Skins by their hungry cub. It had come to this.
The cub seemed dissatisfied and continued letting out a series of "PFFFT" sounds. Zhi Le’s Protective Shield was torn apart, leaking everywhere like tattered cotton.
Ever since Si Shuo had met Zhi Le, he’d always been emotionally stable. She’d rarely seen him look so defeated. Si Shuo, on the other hand, buried her face in the Beast Skins, wrapped her arms around his waist, and shook with laughter.
Zhi Le hissed in frustration and patted her on the head. "Kitty, am I the only one being embarrassed here? If we don’t get up now, we’re both going to become a spectacle."
Si Shuo froze, then hastily grabbed her clothes and started pulling them on.
In her flustered haste, she couldn’t help but brush against Zhi Le. He gritted his teeth, fighting the urge to pounce on the little female that very second.
He threw up another, smaller Protective Shield. After he finished dressing and saw that Si Shuo was also ready, he finally took the shield down.
Zhi Le saw Xue Bao, his little black-tipped ears twitching, tilting his little head. His target for "PFFFT"-ing had disappeared, and he was clearly confused.
Picking the little guy up, Zhi Le set up another Protective Shield, this one only palm-sized. Because it was smaller, it was exceptionally thick.
Xue Bao puffed up his cheeks and started "PFFFT"-ing at the shield again. With each sound he spat out, more and more cracks appeared on the Protective Shield. It didn’t even last for the time it takes an incense stick to burn.
But the little guy gave up. He clearly realized he was wasting his effort and started crying pitifully.
Zhi Le suddenly found his hands full, waiting on three little ancestors.
Si Shuo called out for Yin Jiang, and Yin Jiang, who was outside the cave, immediately flashed inside.
She was holding Xue Bao, who was enthusiastically sucking on a milk bottle. "Yin Jiang, he just made a couple of ’pfft’ sounds, and Zhi Le’s Protective Shield was spoken to pieces. What on earth is his superpower?"
Back when she was pulled into a dreamscape by the Dream Control Divine Queen, Wang Cha, it was Yin Jiang who had protected her and kept her safe.
"A Protective Shield is formed by the condensation of Spiritual Power, which is controlled by one’s spiritual power. For Xue Bao to be able to break it, his ability is either a mental-type that can interfere with someone’s control of their spiritual power, or it’s one that acts directly on Spiritual Power—crudely and decisively disrupting anything supported by it, like Illusion Techniques, Protective Shields, Arrays, and so on.
"Whichever it is, the little guy’s future strength is not to be underestimated!" Yin Jiang said with a smile, genuinely happy for Zhi Le from the bottom of his heart. He was now even more excited for his own little Hunting Falcon Pup.
Zhi Le poked Xue Bao’s head with a finger. "You’re not allowed to randomly break the Protective Shields your Father sets up, understand? Sometimes, we Fathers use them to protect your Mother and your siblings."
The little cub was focused on drinking his milk, paying no attention to what he was saying.
Si Shuo smiled, her lips pursed. When the cubs finished drinking, she leaned in for a closer look.
By now, the cubs’ fur was dry and fluffy. Their snow-white coats were adorned with beautiful black spots. They were so tiny, she subconsciously forgot they were the cubs she had given birth to, and thought of them instead as a litter of kitties she’d brought home!
They were so adorable and cuddly, she couldn’t take her eyes off them.
The cubs were too little. After finishing their milk, they squirmed a few times and fell back asleep.
Now that her body had recovered, Si Shuo had Gong You take her to a place with slightly richer Spiritual Energy to begin replicating the Bone Marrow Cleansing and Vein Cutting Pill!
Unexpectedly, she managed to replicate twenty-five pills in one go, five more than she had estimated.
After she was done, she turned her head and saw Gong You standing guard over her with his arms crossed. Smiling softly, she ran over and leaped into his arms.
She had grown especially fond of this action recently—dangling in her Beast Husband’s arms, snuggling up close, and feeling their powerful physiques. They could hold her as if she were a cub, without their faces flushing or their breathing quickening.
"Gong You, let’s go to the seaside! Since we have to stay inside the Array for a day or two anyway, we can be anywhere. Why don’t we stay by the sea and let the cubs see the environment where Father Gong You lives?"
Gong You held her tightly. "Alright, I’ll listen to my good girl."
With this idea in mind, Si Shuo couldn’t sit still. After returning, she announced her plan. "Yin Jiang can fly me over first, and then the rest of you can use Teleportation to follow!"
Flying Beasts were inherently faster than land beasts. And since Yin Jiang was a Hunting Falcon, he could shorten a five-day journey to a single day.
"My good girl, how about I go with Yin Jiang and set up the Time Law along the way," Gong You said with a smile. Even if Yin Jiang flew quickly and steadily, spending a whole day on his back would be an ordeal for the little female.
Gong You’s reasoning was sound, so Si Shuo couldn’t refute it and could only nod in agreement.
Xu Ye chirped twice. "Little Ye will use Invisibility and go with you!"
Although he could fly, compared to Father Yin Jiang, he could *merely* fly. He loved being carried by Father Yin Jiang as they sped along. ︿( ̄︶ ̄)︿
And so, after a quick meal, the two adults and one youngster took off for the seaside.
With some free time on her hands, Si Shuo started to look through the system rewards she received after having the Snow Leopard cubs.
As always, it was the standard twenty thousand Beast Coins, a case of milk powder, one Superpower Awakening Pill, the chance to learn two designated talismans, and one Substitute Pearl!
Si Shuo held the Substitute Pearl. ’The system is so thoughtful. The rewards for the cubs are always tailored to their weaknesses. For the Horned Deer Cub, it was a Hidden Beast Form Pearl, and for the Iron-eating Beast cub, it was a Personal Bamboo Garden.’
Snow Leopards are fast, but their defense is rather weak. This Substitute Pearl could block a fatal blow at a critical moment, transferring all damage to the substitute while simultaneously teleporting the user ten li away. The whole process was designed to make an enemy mistakenly believe the user was dead, thus rescuing the pearl’s owner from mortal danger.
However, the pearl could only be used once!
Si Shuo could replicate the Hidden Beast Form Pearl, and she could replicate the Personal Bamboo Garden, so she could surely replicate the Substitute Pearl as well. That way, everyone in the family could be equipped with one.
’Even if the cubs inherited her Nine Lives Cat constitution, her Beast Husbands didn’t have it. One pearl meant one extra life. Now that’s a real sense of security, isn’t it?’
Putting the Substitute Pearl away, she decided she would try replicating it after she finished with the Bone Marrow Cleansing and Vein Cutting Pills.
Si Shuo chose the Transformation Talisman and an Attack Talisman that could lock onto a target and fire automatically!
As she rested with her eyes closed, she began tracing the runes in her mind over and over, trying to memorize them completely before she started drawing them for real.
With Xu Chi as their hidden ace, Si Shuo played with the cubs by a small river, watching Wei Ce spear fish with a wooden stick in the clear, shallow water.
He was quite skilled at this and had the patience for it. Before long, he had speared more than ten fish, each weighing two or three pounds.
Ji Liang and Xiao Cheng sat nearby, having started a bonfire to roast the fish!
