Chapter 308: Chapter 307: This Cub Is Doing Pretty Well

Xue Zhu tilted her head. She looked at the Pangolin, chirped, and then said slowly, "Mount. Xue Zhu’s. Exclusive!"

Si Shuo was amazed. ’Wow, this cub is doing great. She’s only two months old and already has a mount?’

"It listens to you?" she asked, suddenly clapping her hands in excitement.

Xue Zhu nodded and reached out to pet the Pangolin. "Armie, sit!"

The Pangolin, which had just been curled into a ball, immediately sat up beside her and nuzzled her with its head.

She was immediately met with a chorus of amazed and envious "oohs" from the other cubs. Chin held high, she lifted her own paw and said, "Paw!"

The Pangolin lifted a foreleg, and the two touched paws. It was perfectly obedient.

Si Shuo grew excited. "Xue Zhu, look at your two brothers. Can you make them do somersaults?"

Xueqiu and Xue Bao trembled. Their eyes met Xue Zhu’s, and they wanted to turn tail and run. But then they heard Xue Zhu’s clear, childish voice command, "Flip." Their bodies moved as if they weren’t their own, and they began to do somersaults. They couldn’t even let out a whimper. ’It was horrifying!’

"Stop." Thankfully, Xue Zhu called a halt just in time. The two Snow Leopard cubs collapsed to the ground, not wanting to get back up.

Si Shuo let out a whoop and scooped Xue Zhu into her arms. "Xu Chi, Xue Zhu has the Beast Taming Ability, right? Back when I was pregnant with the Snow Leopard cubs, I was so envious that Li Hui got the Beast Taming Ability. I never imagined our Xue Zhu would be the one to awaken it."

’Could the Beast God have mistaken that for my wish and granted the superpower to Xue Zhu? In the Beast World, the Beast Taming Ability is practically invincible. Who wouldn’t be under Xue Zhu’s thumb?’

Everyone was thrilled about Xue Zhu’s superpower, and Xue Zhu herself happily nuzzled Si Shuo’s chin.

Si Shuo looked at her adorable little cubs and stressed to them that they must never casually use their superpowers in front of strangers. The more powerful a superpower, the more likely it was to attract jealousy and fear, which in turn could bring disaster.

The cubs had inherited knowledge about such things, so they all agreed with solemn little faces.

The treehouse had three levels, each built on a thick, sturdy branch. They were connected by wooden ladders and vines fastened to the main trunk.

The three levels weren’t stacked in a straight line, but spiraled around the trunk. Si Shuo had Yin Jiang and the others build three slides, making it possible to zip down from the upper floors.

The cubs played nonstop in the treehouse, while Si Shuo reclined on a chaise lounge on the top level, taking an afternoon nap.

Xu Chi watched over her, all while keeping an eye on the cubs. He had always been a loner and never imagined he could have such a bustling, happy family.

He’d had very little in his youth, so he cherished what he had now more than anything. Just looking at them filled him with a contentment so deep he felt he would give his all for them.

After playing for a while, the cubs drank some water, went down to use the bathroom on their own, and then climbed back up. They found a cozy spot and snuggled together, fast asleep.

When Si Shuo woke from her nap, the sun was already beginning to set. She turned her head to look at Xu Chi, smiling as she nuzzled his chest. "Where are the cubs?"

"Ji Liang is back. The cubs went with him to fish by the pond. They said they want to make fish soup for you," Xu Chi replied, kissing her forehead.

The longer they lived in the valley, the more traces of their life appeared. By the pond, they had built a stone pavilion, a stone boat, and a stone bridge. There was also a fishing platform made of bamboo.

The men of the family had grown accustomed to her diet and had developed a taste for seafood and freshwater fish, especially the cubs.

When the weather wasn’t too hot, they loved to go to the pond to fish, barbecue, and play in the water.

With the cubs gone, Si Shuo chuckled and nibbled on a Dust Cleaning Talisman. She pulled him closer. "You’ve been working so hard lately, Xu Chi, taking care of so many cubs every day."

These days, Xiao Cheng and Xu Chi took turns being on duty. Whoever was on duty would then alternate with Ji Liang, one going out to check on their business, Bamboo Forest Mountain, and the fields, while the other stayed home to look after her and the cubs.

Each of them had a heavy workload. On top of that, every four days, either Xiao Cheng or Xu Chi also had to patrol at night.

Xu Chi chuckled, pressing his forehead against hers. "A shuo, I don’t find it hard. The cubs might be a little lively and mischievous, but they’re very well-behaved."

"As long as I’m with you all, I don’t want to go anywhere else."

Si Shuo wrapped her arms around his neck. Her heart clenched as she thought about his past. ’I wonder what’s become of Xu Chi’s tribal lands. He carries his clan’s legacy; he must have a deep attachment to that place.’

"Xu Chi, when our cubs are older and all of your superpowers have reached Level 15, let’s go visit your tribal lands, okay?"

"I’m so curious what kind of place could have produced such a handsome man like you."

Xu Chi’s ears turned red. Even though he was a Father now, he still got embarrassed so easily. "Okay!"

"Xu Chi, take me to a cave," Si Shuo said, scratching his palm. She was in a teasing mood.

Xu Chi understood what she had in mind. Without a word, he picked her up and flew to a cave he had found long ago. The place was dry and clean, and inside was a bed carved from stone, its surface polished perfectly smooth.

Now, with a thick layer of Beast Skins spread over it, Xu Chi gently set her down.

Si Shuo laughed, pulled him down, and rolled on top of him, pinning him. She whispered in his ear, "You’ve worked so hard, Xu Chi. Tonight, it’s my turn to take care of you. To ensure the best experience, you’re not allowed to move your hands or feet. But I will allow you to make some noise..."

As she spoke, she waved a hand, and Spirit Plants instantly wrapped around Xu Chi’s arms and legs. She added, with a playful threat in her voice, "I know you’re strong, Xu Chi. These Spirit Plants can’t hold you. But if you break free and damage them, I’ll be the one who gets hurt."

Xu Chi blinked and went still, his ears so red it looked like they might bleed. He managed an "mhm." "I... I won’t move."

Si Shuo set about preparing her "main course," but halfway through, her stamina gave out. However, one look at Xu Chi’s flushed eyes and she couldn’t resist pushing him down again. She quickly popped two Revitalizing Pills and finally managed to soothe the Horned Deer Spirit... until he was crying for mercy...

For dinner, there was a large bowl of her favorite stir-fried river snails. "Ji Liang, what kind of meat is this?" she asked.

The meat was tender, juicy, and melted in her mouth. "It’s delicious! Have I never had this before?"

Since arriving on the Beast World Continent, she had traveled with her Beast Husbands all the way from the Southern Continent to the Central Continent and eaten the meat of many Fierce Beasts. But in the end, aside from seafood and river fish, she still preferred chicken, pork, and beef.

Ji Liang smiled. "It’s chicken. Didn’t you recognize it, Little Shushu? Perhaps it’s because the Golden Headed Chicken I caught was on the smaller side, and I might have undercooked it a bit, which would make it seem more tender."

Si Shuo nodded and didn’t give it another thought, diving back into her meal. ’Ji Liang is different now that he’s a Father,’ she thought. ’He must be pulling out all the stops. This is even better than Xu Chi’s cooking.’

Xu Chi glanced up at Ji Liang, then silently went back to preparing the cubs’ food.
