Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 183: How is she?
The trio stepped into their home feeling at ease. They were finally back to a place where they could relax, no longer needing to watch their backs at every turn. But now wasn’t the time to rest. They had allowed the pack time to rest, but they still needed to figure out what was happening.
Krag and Chi followed them into the house. This was not a surprise to the trio; they had expected them to come. Since Visha was sure they knew more than they were letting on, she knew they would come.
Everyone found comfortable places to sit down. The trio sat on an overly large sofa. Krag and Chi sat together in a large loveseat. None of the five spoke. The silence was awkward yet somehow comforting.
Krag and Chi sat looking in the trio’s direction. They noted their new appearance. A brief signal passed between the two. Their expressions told the trio that they knew more than they were letting on.
"What did you learn?" Krag was the first to speak.
"Learn?" Visha questioned.
"Yes, because you don’t remember, so what have you learned?" Chi chimed in.
Silence permeated the house. Chi’s question brought even more questions to Visha’s mind. What does she need to remember? Her beast said the same. But even when she was able to integrate more of herself, she didn’t know what she should remember. Now, it seems even Uri and Xeno have things they need to remember.
"Don’t think about it anymore," Chi said lightheartedly. "You still have a long way to go."
"Reporting on the pack. Let’s do that first. Talking about things you do not understand will only make you more confused," Krag stated.
"Tell us. What had happened at the pack? Why was there such a fight when we arrived?" Uri asked, cutting the previous conversation.
"The Stonefang Pack," Krag replied bluntly. "They came for Lyra, again. This time, they did not come with only a few people. They came ready to fight. Apparently, they claim Lyra stole something from their pack before she left. They came to collect. They seem to have an unusual need to have Lyra go back with them."
"Yes," Chi nodded. "At first, we believed it was because of the pack leader’s son. Since he wanted to partner with her. But that Garm has already been partnered. There must be a reason we know nothing about."
"Couldn’t they just want him to have more than one partner?" Visha asked curiously.
"You would think so, but when they arrived and saw other female half shifters, they became even more boisterous. So we can only assume it has something to do with women. Krag and I didn’t go to investigate."
Xeno spoke. "We don’t need to. As long as they don’t bother our people or territory, what they do has nothing to do with us."
"But...Lyra wasn’t a half-shifter when she came to us." Visha’s brows furrowed, and she tilted her head, thinking. "Do they know something we don’t?"
"It doesn’t matter. Even if they know about bloodlines, as long as you and Lyra are safe, nothing else matters." Krag’s steady voice filled the room.
"Bloodlines?" Uri asked.
"Yes, bloodline. Did the chamber not show you your bloodlines?" Chi questioned.
"So you do know..." Visha whispered, though the room heard it.
"Even if we know, we cannot tell you. There are things you need to learn on your own," Krag responded. "Now let me tell you about bloodlines."
Any information he and Chi might know cannot be known to the trio. Hints are fine, but outright saying things will only cause problems.
Krag continued, "Each beast clan has their own bloodline. For the tiger clan, the highest bloodline is the Yellow Tiger, with dominion over all." Krag glanced at Xeno. "There is also the White Tiger and the Obsidian Tiger. These are the three highest bloodlines currently on the Beast Continent. Though the white and obsidian tigers cannot be found in the Unawakened parts of the continent, they can still be found in the Beast City. There are also lesser bloodlines, but we don’t need to speak about those."
Krag paused, letting his words sink in. "As for the Beast City, you will find it soon."
"For the Snake clan, Leviathan, Worldcoil Serpent, and Moonshade Viper. These are the highest bloodlines. All the bloodlines I mention can be found in Beast City. As for the Foxes, there are Tenko, Starfire Kitsune, and Veilwalker Foxes."
As he explained each bloodline, he would stop for a moment and look at Xeno, Uri, and Visha. His attention stayed on each of them as he talked about the different kinds of bloodlines. It was clear he was letting them know what bloodline they had, without making it obvious.
As for why he did that, the trio had their own thoughts about why certain things were unsaid.
"The rulers of the Unawakened on the continent are the Panther, Condor, and Mammoth. In truth, their bloodline is not as high as the Tiger, Fox, and Snake, but they are the most numerous. And they possess the skills of their ancestors, though to a lesser extent."
Uri, Xeno, and Visha listened intently to Krag’s explanation. These were things they had not known before. Now, learning about them broadened their minds and horizons.
"Unawakened? Are you talking about people outside of Beast City?" Visha asked.
"Yes," Krag replied. "Don’t ask anything about Beast City, and don’t mention the Unawakened. This is all we can tell you. But I do have a question for you."
Visha straightened up. She had leaned forward in her seat when she heard Krag talk about the bloodlines. Now, he was asking a question. She knew it must be something important.
"How is she?" his voice sounded light, but there was a tension beneath it.
Visha’s body stiffened, unsure of what to say. She knew who she was. Even if it took her a while to truly understand the question. She knew who he was referring to.
She wasn’t wrong; Krag and Chi knew the system.
