Chapter 191: Basic

Closing her eyes, Visha went to look at the library. Touching the library tab on the interface, she felt herself being pulled into another space. When the feeling stopped, she was standing in a library. It wasn’t endless or grand.

Rather, it was a small library with a limited number of books. There was a desk and a chair for her to sit on. She walked towards the wall of books. Her fingers slide over the spines of each book.

It lands on one with the word BASIC written on the spine. When Visha saw it, she couldn’t help laughing. She pulled the book from its place on the wall and went to sit at the desk.

She opened the book. It wasn’t a history of the Beast Continent. It was more like a history of beastmen and females. Visha already knew that females could transform. Since this book was about beastmen, she thought she might be able to find the reason why females don’t shift here.

All beastmen, male and female, are born with the ability to absorb vital energy. While not consciously, breathing it in helps to strengthen their bodies. Males are born with the ability to shift from a human or two-legged form to their beast forms, while females cannot.

In some tribes, with a high bloodline, some females can maintain a half-shifted form. This form may develop over time or appear during birth.

For both males and females who develop half-shifter features over time, it is a sign of returning to the ancestors. Some believe that returning to their ancestors happens in females having a mix of two powerful bloodlines.

Others believe that abstaining from food can cleanse the blood, allowing them to give birth to half-shifter children. As these children are generally stronger and faster. It is believed that a period of fasting heightened the body’s awareness and purges the blood.

Visha thought for a moment. The last time, she got information that half-shifting, the system said it was a defect, but now it isn’t. Why would the system want to give incorrect information? Which should she believe?

Her hand went to her own fox ears. She rubbed them and decided that she preferred to believe what was in the book. She could ask the system about the discrepancy later.

Females are unable to shift. It is said to be a curse. The rumour of such a curse stems from the First Beast. Not long after she died, females found themselves unable to shift. The following generation was unable to keep their beast features.

Only those of a relatively high bloodline were able to keep the features of their ancestors. Many of those who were able to keep their half-shifter nature were able to keep some of the abilities their ancestors had.

There are some whose bloodline had gone dormant, and as such, they appeared more human than other beast men.

During the time of the first beast, much information was passed on about the Beast God World. The First Beast taught the people of the Beast Continent cultivate. Different bloodlines had different attainments in cultivation. There were some who were able to ascend to the beast God world.

Speaking of cultivation, one must define the levels.

The beginning of the journey is learn to control the energy in the world. After learning to absorb and control, one then needs to use it to refine their bodies. Through this refinement, the bloodline awakens.

Once the bloodline awakens, the party is capable of using their bloodline talents. The ancestral traits are now more visible. It affects appearance both as a half-shifter and in beast form.

The more one cultivates, the more their ancestral powers grow. After some time, each beast can create their own personal domain in which to fight. This domain amplifies their power.

Once the beastman reaches the threshold, they will no longer be able to cultivate on the Beast Continent. Their bodies will feel this shift. This shift allows them to ascend to the Beast Continent. Their ascension is a culmination of understanding and will.

Please note that the theory of cultivation is not to be mixed with the theory of vital sensitives.

The theory of vital sensitives comes from those who are sensitive to vital energy. These people will have certain ’gifts’ that will enable them to manipulate vital energy to a lesser degree.

Visha took in the information she had gotten from the book. She understood what each stage was. She looked at the levels and understood the Crest Stage. She was only in the stage of refining her body.

But because the cleansing ritual caused their bloodline to awaken, they took on beast features without actually cultivating. And then there is the matter of bloodline again. And females being unable to shift since the First Beast died.

She wondered again if they should allow the pack to go to the Verdant Maw to go through the trials.

She walked over to the bookshelf with the book in her hand. She saw the other books on the shelf. Reaching for a random book, her heart twitched. It was a cultivation technique.

Visha grinned. The cultivation technique she had in her mind was better than this one. Still, it was a good start for their pack. The one thing Visha was glad about was that it didn’t involve enlightenment.

This Beast Continent only needed its inhabitants to get stronger. The more you hunt and train, the stronger you become. The more you use your powers and understand them, the stronger you become.

No need for knowing about daos and going through tribulations. Visha thought to herself that she had it easy, and she was glad for it.

As she was thinking about the difference in cultivation, she felt herself moving. It was a strange sensation, standing still but feeling wind where no wind should be. She put the book back on the shelf and willed herself back to her body.

When she opened her eyes, she saw they had already started on their journey. She was being held in Uri’s arms.
