Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 467: Holy Water
Silvanus watched Nana’s retreating figure, then turned to Cain and said softly, "If she decides to bring her own private army to fight alongside us, then we can begin planning the attack."
"Cain, you will be in charge of leading this operation."
Cain immediately bowed his head and replied respectfully, "Understood, Master."
As soon as Silvanus finished speaking, he vanished as well. Nick didn’t even have time to say anything.
At that moment, something suddenly occurred to him. He looked at Marax with a hint of confusion. "Why does Silvanus call you Cain?"
Asta also quietly glanced over, trying his best to look like he wasn’t paying attention, though in truth he cared so much it hurt.
Cain chuckled and said casually, "Maybe that’s just a close nickname."
Hearing this, Asta immediately said, "Then can I call you Cain from now on too?"
Cain didn’t say anything. Asta instantly grabbed his hand, looking so sorrowful it was practically tragic. "Please, just give me a chance."
Cain couldn’t help laughing, suddenly feeling that deceiving an idiot like Asta really brought no sense of accomplishment at all. It felt as though, even now, he still hadn’t noticed anything strange.
Smiling, he nodded. "Sure."
Asta immediately became overjoyed, jumping around in celebration and even nudging Nick as if to show off.
Nick: "..." He couldn’t be bothered to argue with a simp.
...
Given the current tense situation, the noble families, no matter how severe their previous conflicts had been, quickly gathered together. With the Aurellan family at the center, they began discussing plans to oppose the Church.
Today, Nana suddenly summoned the heads of the other families. She intended to hold an important meeting regarding the upcoming battle. Nearly everyone was present, all of them hoping that Nana had found some way to help them secure victory this time.
"A bunch of commoners who refuse to just live their ordinary lives."
"Those people from the Church are the truly cunning ones. We never should have given them the chance to act as benefactors in the first place."
The crowd complained endlessly, cursing the common folk, treating those lives like weeds, like slaves fit only to serve them.
Nana swept her gaze across the room and suddenly felt a deep sense of hopelessness. Even so, she still spoke with everything she had. "I have found someone who can help us win this battle."
Hearing this, the crowd could not help but be shocked. Almost at the same moment, they fell silent.
However, Nana’s next words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly stirring violent waves.
"However, there is one condition. If we win, we must return all benefits to the common people."
At once, the previously upbeat atmosphere sank, freezing into sharp ice.
"That’s impossible!"
"Exactly! How could the interests of the nobility be sullied like this?! Nana, have you forgotten what the pride of a noble is?"
Facing those accusatory voices, Nana spoke directly. "Pride? The pride I was taught is absolute strength, protecting the family and ensuring it continues forward steadily. No pride ever taught us to oppress others."
That was only what they had always known, what they had always used to indulge in the feeling of standing at the top. Even Nana herself had once seen nothing wrong with it. If everything had remained peaceful, she would not even have bothered to change it.
But now, the nobility faced the possibility of being completely wiped out. They needed to change in order to obtain peace.
But clearly, the others did not share Nana’s way of thinking. The ingrained mindset in their minds made it impossible for them to change.
"So you would rather face extinction than change?" Nana stood up.
"There’s no certainty that we’ll lose, Nana."
"Exactly. Do you really think our elite mage forces would lose to those commoners carrying hoes and sickles?"
Nana frowned. "Then why don’t you mention the Church? Do you really think they’ll just stand by? This battle was even instigated by them."
The crowd fell silent. After a while, voices slowly rose again. Clearly, they were still deeply dissatisfied with Nana’s decision, some even believing she had betrayed the nobility.
In the end, Nana said bluntly, "If none of you can make a decision, then I’ll simply defeat both sides."
"By yourself?" someone couldn’t help but laugh.
The head of the Aurellan family also spoke up, unable to hold back. "Nana..."
Nana shook her head. "My heart is already set. That person will certainly win. Don’t worry, I won’t let the nobility be wiped out—but this world truly needs change."
With that, she turned and left directly.
Her words were no different from a public declaration of opposition against the nobility. How could these people possibly let her leave so easily? Yet just as they stood up, ready to make a move, a magic circle suddenly appeared, runes spinning endlessly.
They couldn’t help but turn around, only to see Mr. Aurellan slowly withdraw his hand. "Let her go and build her own future."
Of course, he did not agree with Nana’s views either. But if Nana could truly rearrange the order of the world, he would be more than willing to see it happen.
Their family had always revered the strong. Someone capable of reshaping the order of the world was undoubtedly the strongest of all—truly worthy of the seat of head of the Aurellan family.
The others truly could not comprehend the bizarre way of thinking shared by this father and daughter.
At this moment, unseen by anyone, a wisp of smoke coiled and dissolved into the air, drifting through every nook and cranny, observing everything.
Silvanus wanted to infiltrate the temple. He wanted to see how the so-called purification was actually carried out.
But reality went far beyond his expectations. The purification was not performed inside the temple at all. Instead, believers brought it out of the temple and distributed it directly to ordinary citizens. The holy water was contained in a small vial, crystal clear. As long as one drank it, darkness would automatically stay away from them. That was what had been spread, and what had indeed happened.
Silvanus quickly manifested in a narrow alley, his appearance so ragged it was hard to describe.
Before long, footsteps stopped in front of him. The gentle voice of a mage sounded out, "Everything will get better. The uprising is about to begin. Take it, and purify yourself."
Silvanus raised both hands, exceedingly respectful, and accepted the small vial. Only after the footsteps had faded into the distance did he open it to take a look. A foul stench surged out, almost making him frown immediately.
He poured the liquid into his palm. The water itself was pure, without the slightest trace of impurity, yet the stench was so overwhelming that it nearly numbed Silvanus’s senses.
He remembered that this smell was somewhat similar to the scent that had once clung to Matthew.
Back then, the scent on Matthew had only been fleeting, not nearly this severe.
After Silvanus returned from the Relics of the Hobbit, the smell on Matthew had already disappeared. He hadn’t paid much attention to it, only thinking that Matthew must have accidentally come into contact with something unclean that day.
But it was obvious that Matthew had found a way to conceal it. Even now, Silvanus still did not know whether Matthew had ever truly been Matthew, or if from beginning to end he had merely been an incarnation of an Outer God. After all, their past was not an illusion. They had truly grown up together.
If Matthew were an Outer God, he would have had countless chances to kill Silvanus in the past. There would have been no need to wait until now and act in such a roundabout manner.
Silvanus crushed the small vial in his hand. The porcelain instantly turned to dust and vanished without a trace.
