Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 114: Another Piece of Memory
Her head felt like it was about to explode as a memory suddenly flashed through her mind. Moreover, the memory that came back to her was about the accident he had experienced five years earlier. Tears welled up in her eyes as she witnessed the scene of the car she was riding in being hit by a truck, causing it to roll over. However, strangely, this memory rewinded, as if showing her something very important she needed to see. Just before the accident, she had met with her family and had a brief conversation. However, she still couldn’t remember what they had discussed at that time, which seemed so serious.
Having witnessed this horrific scene so openly, she immediately collapsed to the floor and lost consciousness. At the same time, Renata, having just entered the luxurious house, immediately ran to her boss’s body lying on the floor.
"Edith, wake up!" Renata shouted repeatedly while trying to reach Callum.
Renata panicked because it was unusual for Edith to faint suddenly. Edith had never fainted before, even under stress. She suspected something bad had happened to her boss today. Therefore, the only solution was to call Callum to come home immediately.
A few minutes later, Callum ran into the living room and approached Renata, who was sitting on the floor, staring at Edith, who was lying on the sofa, still unconscious. Callum sat down next to Renata and gently lifted Edith’s head.
"What happened, Renata? How did Edith get like this?"
"I don’t know either. It’s all my fault for being late earlier."
Callum patted Renata’s shoulder briefly, then gently lifted Edith’s body. "Thank you for telling me this, Renata."
"I’m sorry to bother you so suddenly. Edith will definitely scold me for bothering you again."
"It’s okay. I should be thanking you for acting so quickly. Besides, I always told you to report anything to me whenever something happened to her."
"Luckily the kids don’t know about this. I insist they continue to do their homework in the study room."
"I really do rely on you, Renata. Please take care of my twins again."
Callum immediately laid his fiancée down on the bed and sat down next to her, who was still unconscious. He pressed his lips to hers for a moment, gently stroking her head.
"I really did keep my promise to be home on time. I’m willing to get scolded again because I prioritize you over work. I hate seeing you faint like this all of a sudden. If anything happens, you have to tell me."
Edith slowly opened her eyes, gazing at her beloved fiancé’s haggard face, which made her feel even more guilty. Her right hand gently stroked his soft cheek.
"Are you home?"
Callum nodded, hugging his fiancée tightly. "I was so worried about you. Renata said you suddenly fainted when she arrived."
Edith initially wanted to relax in bed, but she immediately broke free and sat up. "Wait a minute! Could it be Renata who called you on purpose!"
"Yes, I was indeed called by her."
"Renata needs to be punished for disturbing you while you work! Looks like I’ll have to give you even more work tomorrow!"
"I told him to report everything to me! If he hadn’t reported this, I wouldn’t have known you suddenly fainted!"
Her head hung weakly. "I’m sorry for making you worry."
"It’s okay. In fact, I’ve been worried about you ever since you went to meet your stepfamily. I was worried you’d be bullied because of the news about our relationship on social media."
"Actually, I don’t mind it because they don’t bully me."
"Then, how did you suddenly faint?"
"Because I remember something before I had the accident."
His brow furrowed. "What do you remember?"
"I think I met my family at that time."
"But, it’s strange that you didn’t tell me at that time that you wanted to meet your family."
"Really? Did you remember correctly?"
"If you said you wanted to meet your family, I would immediately suspect your family."
"Then, what did I say then?"
"You just said you wanted to go for a walk."
Her lips curled into a pout for a moment. "Could it be that my stepfamily was also involved in the accident that day?"
"Why are you suddenly accusing your family?"
"Because my family also has a strong reason to get rid of me. Plus, Yvette seems to be holding a grudge against me. I spoke to her today, and she seemed a little strange."
"What did Yvette talk to you about?"
"She told me to forget all the bad memories from the past." Edith rested her chin on her hand for a moment and furrowed her brows. "That’s what makes me feel strange. Why is she forcing me to forget all the bad memories? I know she means well, so I don’t get frustrated, but I still want to catch the killer who wants to kill us."
"If I were you, I’d definitely be suspicious of her. She’s bold enough to say something like that, so she’s giving you a warning. You should be wary of her."
"So it can be concluded that your father wasn’t completely wrong, Callum." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
"No, Edith. He deserves the blame because he’s made you suffer for so many years. Even if he wants to give me Cliff’s position, I still won’t forgive him. I’ll still find evidence and imprison him as soon as possible."
Edith hugged her fiancé’s muscular body tightly. "Because I remember the accident, I’m still afraid."
"But, are you sure you want to help me catch the criminal? Seeing your unstable condition suddenly makes me a little anxious."
"It’s okay. Because you’re not the only victim in this accident. I want us to catch her together. After this, I also want to ask Renata for help. She must know a lot about Yvette, too."
Edith felt satisfied resting in her room. She returned to Renata, who was playing with Erdin and Eliana in the living room. She sat on the sofa next to her fiancé, gazing at her twins with pitying eyes.
"Mom, are you okay?" Erdin and Eliana asked simultaneously.
"I’m fine. Thank you for worrying about me."
Callum’s gaze fell on Renata. "Renata, Edith and I would like to discuss something with you. Is that okay with you?"
