Chapter 171: Chapter 171: Cancelled Cooperation

Callum was increasingly suspicious that something serious was wrong with his fiancée. Without even speaking to her directly, he could already read the gloomy expression on her face, indicating that she didn’t want to be disturbed by anyone. He had long known Edith’s stubborn personality. She didn’t want anyone interfering in her affairs and wanted to solve her problems herself. However, on the other hand, she didn’t want her fiancée to solve her problems on her own.

Before going to bed, Callum continued to monitor Edith’s increasingly suspicious movements. Even though her eyes were closed, he knew she was so restless that she had trouble sleeping, walking out of the room repeatedly with her phone in her hand. This wasn’t usually the case with Edith whenever there was a problem. He was just waiting for her to finish her phone conversation while he contacted Patrick, who was secretly investigating the matter.

"What about what I asked earlier?"

"Callum, from what I heard from the boutique staff, Edith is actually facing a big problem. The new agency they were working with for this week’s fashion show suddenly terminated their contract."

"What? How could that happen?"

"From what I’ve heard, the agency models don’t want to do the fashion show later because they already have important schedules."

"That’s just an excuse! There must be someone who wants to destroy Edith!"

"I actually wanted to tell you this. But it seems Edith doesn’t need your help because Renata doesn’t want to tell me either."

A heavy sigh escaped his lips. His hands clenched into fists, trying to vent his anger. Although their previous problems had been resolved, new ones had now arisen. How long would Edith have to endure the various challenges leading up to their wedding?

"Callum, can you still hear me?"

"Because Edith and Renata kept their mouths shut, I had to help them secretly. I didn’t want to get directly involved."

Edith suddenly entered the room with a troubled expression. Callum immediately ended the call and placed his phone on the bedside table. Edith was also surprised to see her fiancé awake. She sat on the bed, placing her phone beside him.

"Callum, what are you doing out this late at night?"

Callum smiled warmly, feigning ignorance. "Patrick contacted me out of the blue about work. As usual, he’s been rude to me." His right hand slowly stroked his fiancée’s head. "What about you?"

Should she tell her fiancé the truth about her current predicament? She didn’t want Callum involved in her problems anymore. For now, she simply responded with a sweet smile.

"I was thirsty earlier."

"Why do you have to bring your phone too?"

"Because I’m afraid one of my employees will suddenly contact me like Patrick. We’ve been busy preparing for this week’s fashion show."

Callum momentarily wrapped his arms around her curvy body, making Edith unable to hold back her tears. His overly warm demeanor made her even more suspicious. Had Renata revealed this secret to Callum or Patrick? Why did Callum suddenly hug her as if to comfort her?

"Callum..."

"I just want to hug you right now."

Edith also wrapped her arms around his broad back. "Is something wrong with you?"

"No. In fact, I’ve been fine lately." His right hand stroked his fiancée’s long hair. "You don’t need to worry anymore. If you’re ever in trouble, just think of my handsome face."

Hearing her fiancé’s words, which were so comforting to her, made her tears flow even more freely. She was so grateful to have such a loving husband who was willing to be there for her during her difficult time. Callum’s rather odd behavior suddenly made her suspicious. Was he acting like this so he could cry to his heart’s content?

"Even though there are people who want to bully you, I’m sure you can solve all your problems on your own. I’ve always believed in you."

"Callum, if you keep saying sweet things, I’m going to have trouble sleeping." She wiped her wet cheeks for a moment.

"In fact, I want you to have sweet dreams after this and forget all the bad things you’ve experienced." Callum slowly released the hug and then lay their bodies on the bed.

Edith stared intently at her fiancé’s handsome face. Her left hand caressed his soft cheek. "I’ve been having sweet dreams since all this trouble ended."

"If you ever have trouble again, just remember me."

"Of course. I will always remember you because you are my favorite man."

His lips landed on her red lips for a few seconds. "I want you to be persistent in solving all your problems, just like we solved ours before."

Edith also kissed those sexy lips for a few seconds and then kissed his cheek. "By the way, why are you talking like this all of a sudden?"

"Because I don’t want you to be sad anymore."

"I’m not sad." A beaming smile lit up her beautiful face. "I’m acting strange all of a sudden because I’m tired. I’ve been busy preparing for an important event lately, and I want it to be a success."

"I know. That’s why I want to encourage you now so you won’t be sad anymore."

"Having a man who cares for me as much as you does makes me very happy. I won’t feel sad."

His gaze fell on his fiancée’s shining eyes as she gazed at him. Seeing her so indulgent now was already a relief, especially since she would have to face another big problem tomorrow.

"You are so cute now."

"After hearing your sweet talk earlier, I had trouble sleeping."

The next day, Edith regained her composure after being comforted by her fiancé all night. She sensed that Callum was aware of her problem but had deliberately avoided making it obvious to avoid angering her. Seeing Callum smiling at her in the morning was enough to make her smile.

"Edith, I really love seeing you smile now."

"Of course I will always smile whenever I am with you."

"How about we take a picture now? You’re so beautiful."

When Callum wanted to open his phone camera, an article suddenly appeared about Edith’s plagiarism.
