Becoming The Villain Is My Dream-Chapter 48: Ancient Bloodline
Not everyone is born with the ancient bloodline or is capable of inheriting ancient powers. Only a few are gifted with this opportunity and thus they become the strongest humans to exist. Those with the ancient bloodline are powerful enough — they have powers that rival the heavens, depending on the type of bloodline they have. But every gift given comes with a price. To wield such ancient powers, one must pay a price.
"Master!" Lilith yelled happily, seeing Alex was now awake, and rushed to hug him but as soon as she got to him and was about to touch him, he stretched out his hand and caught her head. Before everyone’s eyes, he began to drain her energy as well. "Mas—" Lilith tried to talk but she choked and couldn’t say further.
"Alex! That’s your spirit sword, you fool!" Damon yelled frantically. He knew what just happened but he didn’t expect that he would attack Lilith. Even after he yelled, Alex didn’t stop and Lilith was on the verge of dying. "The hell! You are going to kill her if you continue! Control yourself!" He yelled. He wanted to save the girl but his powers were nothing compared to that of Alex now that he had already awakened his bloodline powers.
"Master! Please do something or she’s going to die!" Mikasa yelled in tears.
"Damn it! I’ll have to sacrifice myself then!" Damon cursed and summoned his sword abruptly. He clasped his sword and sprinted forward towards Alex. He attempted to attack him with the sword but Alex caught his sword that instant and broke it with his bare hands. Damon had thought that he was going to get attacked but Alex briefly glanced at him before letting go of him. Everyone was left surprised, they didn’t know how to explain what was happening.
They silently watched as he drained Lilith’s energy until she became just like Arthur. Seeing that she was dead, he let go of her and sighed deeply as if exhausted.
"Alex, tell us why you had to kill her," Damon requested.
"Traitor. They are together," he replied. His words were short but Damon was fast enough to understand what he meant.
"Is that so?" Damon asked him but Alex was speechless. "I see," he mumbled. Though he didn’t look happy about Alex’s response, he could not help but be glad that he didn’t die. But even at that, this was not like his nephew at all — a lot had changed about him. And now, the problem is whether this change is a blessing or a curse.
"I need some time alone," Alex said to both him and Mikasa.
"We need to talk," Damon replied to him.
"We have nothing to talk about," Alex said and turned to the open window. "I just want to be alone, please."
Seeing that he wasn’t ready to talk to anyone, Damon sighed and signaled to Mikasa, and the two of them left the room without forgetting to close the door behind. After they left, Alex abruptly fell to his knees and slammed his fist on the piles of broken glasses. He gazed at the cuts on his flesh and saw them healing almost immediately.
That wasn’t his concern as he turned around and glanced at the body of Lilith. Crawling over to where her body was, he carried her in his arms and gazed down at her. He swept his fingers across her face and closed his eyes. No tears were seen in his eyes but one would know that he was pained.
"I hope you will forgive me," he mumbled still with his eyes closed. After staying in that position for a while, he dropped her back on the floor and stood up to his feet. Raising his head to the ceiling, he let out a scream that reverberated in the room.
Meanwhile, outside the room were Damon and Mikasa. They had heard everything that Alex said and the scream that followed.
"Master, do you notice that he’s changed a lot?" Mikasa asked Damon as they walked further away from the door. "I don’t know much about him but I’m very certain that he’s become a different person, don’t you think?"
"Yeah, he’s changed," Damon replied.
"Are you not going to do anything about it?" Mikasa worriedly asked.
"Do what? There is nothing we can do about it yet," Damon replied and then sighed. "If we take matters into our own hands, I’m afraid our good intentions will turn and bite at us," he added.
"Then you are saying we should leave him?" Mikasa asked. She believed that her Master wasn’t the kind of person who would stand by and watch things getting worse without doing a thing about it.
"Mikasa, sometimes, we have to let things be as they are," he said to her. "Go back to your room and have some rest, I’ll be in the library. If I’m needed, let me know immediately," he added and then walked ahead.
Mikasa watched her Master leave and when he was far off, she turned and glanced at Alex’s room door before walking away as well.
Inside the Library, Damon rummaged through the bookshelves in search of a particular book. It took him a whole while to go through all the books there but he eventually saw what he looking for. The book was about ancient bloodlines so he grabbed it and went to one of the seats there and sat down.
"Hopefully, I’ll find what I’m looking for," he mumbled and began to go through the book. There were a lot of things he wanted to know— for example, what happens during the awakening? Is there a price to pay? Or are the powers controllable or not? These were some of the questions he needed answers to.
He was so engrossed in the book that he didn’t know what was happening outside until Mikasa ran into the library to where he was seated.
"What is it?" He asked her seeing how panicked she was looking.
"Alex... Master, Alex has gone berserk!" She yelled and Damon sprang up from the seat and flung the book away.
"Where is he?" He asked her.
"Servant quarters," she replied, and Damon was taken by surprise. He hurriedly left the room and headed to the servants’ quarters. As soon as he got there, the scene before his eyes was too much for him to handle.
"Alex!" He yelled in shock and Alex turned around and glanced at him.
His eyes were red and glowing, it was enough to make Damon know that he was not in his right senses.
"Bloodlust!" Damon said and turned to Mikasa. "Help the others escape immediately!" He ordered her.
"Yes, Master!" She replied and rushed forward to help the unharmed servants escape. Damon watched in hopelessness as Alex killed his servants, he couldn’t stop what was happening because he was not strong enough to fight him, especially with the new powers. The only thing he could do was stand and watch as virtually all his servants were being killed before his very eyes. Mikasa was only able to rescue about twenty of them, the rest died in Alex’s hands.
At last, the bloodlust was gone and Alex finally came back to his senses. He opened his eyes and looked around him — seeing that he was surrounded by dead bodies, a total bloody mess, he gasped and face-palmed himself. Damon and Mikasa were watching him from behind and he knew because even without turning around, he could feel their presence.
"Mikasa, leave us alone!" Damon ordered Mikasa and she nodded and left. After she was gone, he began to approach Alex from behind.
"Don’t come any closer to me," Alex muttered but Damon continued to slowly approach him.
"We have to talk about you," he calmly said to him.
"I’ve told you, there is nothing to talk about between us," Alex retorted and removed his hand from his face. "I’m leaving this place," he announced.
"No, not until you talk with me!" Damon pressed further.
Alex turned around and gazed at him for a while before letting out a sigh. "Let’s talk then," he muttered with his arm akimbo.
"Tell me everything that happened during the awakening," Damon requested. This was what he wanted so much to know — Whatever that had transpired during that period that provoked his sudden change.
"I don’t know what happened to me," Alex replied. "I felt like I died for a while and then I woke up again, that’s all I can remember."
"How do I know you are telling the truth?" Damon asked him, staring into his eyes. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
"It’s up to you to believe me or not. I don’t have any plans on going further with the explanations," Alex replied.
"Then what about now? Why the bloodlust?" Damon asked him.
"It just occurred and I couldn’t control it," Alex replied and breathed out. "I guess there is nothing else to talk about, then I’ll take my leave," he added and began to head towards the entrance.
