Being Dumped by My EX, I Marriied His Older Brother-Chapter 141: The Video
Suddenly, April Graham’s arm was grabbed. "Don’t push me!"
April Graham felt his grip tighten, so strong it seemed he would crush the bones in her hand.
She was forcefully dragged back into the private room.
Just then, Nina Thorne rounded the corner and instinctively glanced down the hallway to her right.
It was quiet and empty.
’Strange.’
’Why did I feel like I just heard Justin Kane’s voice?’
Without dwelling on it, Nina Thorne reached the door of the private room and pushed it open.
She stood in the doorway, looking inside.
Serena Kane was sitting on the sofa, leaning back with her arms crossed, her eyes fixed on Nina.
"What’s the matter? Scared to come in?"
Serena Kane’s cold taunt echoed in the room.
A faint smile touched Nina Thorne’s lips as she stepped inside.
"Where is it?"
Nina Thorne came to a stop in front of her, a coffee table separating them.
A bottle of whiskey and a small, poured glass sat on it.
At her words, Serena Kane sat up straight, picked up the glass, and downed it. "Nina Thorne, Nina Thorne... have you still not learned your lesson after all this time?"
"I told you to come, and you actually came?"
As soon as she finished speaking.
The door to the room was pushed open again.
Several burly men entered and quickly flanked Serena Kane, their eyes fixed on Nina.
Suddenly, Serena Kane’s expression turned vicious. "You schemed against me and ruined me in Vistara. Now that you’re here, do you really think I’m going to let you just walk away?"
"Yes."
Nina Thorne was perfectly composed, having expected Serena would pull a stunt. "If you don’t want your little affair with Cole Kane to become public knowledge, then don’t you dare lay a finger on me."
Serena Kane gritted her teeth. "Are you bluffing? My men are here. What can you possibly do?"
Nina Thorne glanced at the time on her phone. "If I don’t make a phone call in the next ten minutes, not only will those videos be released..."
"...but the police will also be able to track you down using the recording of this conversation. So, how about it? Feeling lucky?"
The color drained from Serena Kane’s face.
’She’s really changed,’ Serena realized.
"Nina Thorne, you think I’ll believe you?" Serena Kane slammed the glass down.
CRASH!
The glass shattered, sending liquor and shards flying.
Nina Thorne looked down at her, her expression cold as her lips parted. "You don’t have to."
Serena Kane secretly clenched her fists.
’She couldn’t risk gambling with what happened that night at the resort.’
She stood up, facing Nina Thorne. "Give me back the video from that night, and I’ll give you the disk."
’So she does have it,’ Nina thought.
’But what I want is more than just the disk.’
"I can take or leave the disk... But you, on the other hand, you must really want that video, right?"
Nina Thorne’s gaze was sharp, her eyes boring into Serena’s as if to see right through her.
Serena Kane ground her teeth. "What do you want?"
"I want to hear you say it with your own mouth. If it wasn’t Cole Kane who saved me back then, who was it?"
Serena Kane had expected this question.
"Like I said, I don’t know."
Serena Kane swiftly pulled a disk from her purse and handed it over. "It’s encrypted. I couldn’t open it. See for yourself."
Nina Thorne felt this was all too easy and eyed her with suspicion.
Serena Kane shrugged. "Don’t want it? Fine. Then nobody gets it."
There was an ice bucket on the table. She picked it up and held the disk over it, poised to drop it in.
Nina Thorne reached for it, but Serena blocked her with her other hand. "Not so fast. Give me the video."
Nina Thorne scoffed. "You have zero credibility. I’m not giving you the video here."
To Nina’s surprise, Serena shoved the disk into her hand. "I want to see that video by the end of the night."
"Otherwise, I’ll destroy you, no matter the cost."
Nina Thorne sneered. "Relax. I’m not sick enough to want to keep that video of you two."
She turned to leave.
But the burly men blocked her path.
"What, having second thoughts?" Nina turned, her cold gaze sweeping over them without a trace of fear.
That commanding, superior air reminded Serena Kane of the old Nina Thorne—the one who shone as brightly and proudly as the sun.
Seething with jealousy, Serena Kane bit out, "Let her go."
Nina Thorne coolly withdrew her gaze, straightened her back, and walked toward the elevators.
Justin Kane was waiting for the elevator, his hands in his pockets, his expression terrifyingly dark.
April Graham stood beside him, a triumphant, self-satisfied smile on her face.
"Justin, I’ll give you time to think it over."
She smiled, raising a hand to touch his muscular arm. "Just... don’t make me wait too long."
The elevator doors opened.
Justin Kane stepped inside, giving her no chance to touch him.
But April Graham, in a fantastic mood and not at all annoyed, followed him in with a smile.
In the instant before the elevator doors slid shut,
Nina Thorne arrived and glimpsed Justin Kane through the closing gap.
She hadn’t gotten a clear look and wasn’t sure if it was him. She pulled out her phone and sent him a text: "Where are you, Mr. Kane?"
She didn’t get a reply until she was downstairs.
Justin Kane’s delayed response finally came: "Meeting a friend to discuss something. What’s up?"
"Nothing, just asking."
Nina Thorne walked to the outdoor parking lot.
As she looked up, she caught a glimpse of a familiar black luxury car driving away from the exit in the distance.
Her view was partially blocked, so Nina Thorne couldn’t see the license plate.
’Why does that look so much like Justin Kane’s car?’
But she didn’t ask, not wanting to seem like she was checking up on him or didn’t trust him.
After getting to her car, Nina Thorne sent the video to Serena Kane before driving away.
Back in the private room, Serena Kane was waiting, burning with impatience.
The moment her phone chimed with a message, she eagerly opened it and clicked the link...
Just then, a figure appeared beside her, his face handsome yet sinister.
The images on the phone were obscene, but the faces of the entangled man and woman were clearly visible.
Serena Kane quickly deleted the video.
"Do you believe me now? She doesn’t have a single shred of affection left for you.
The only reason she kept that video was to completely destroy us one day."
She shot Cole Kane a knowing look, adding fuel to the fire.
Her meeting with Nina Thorne today had been orchestrated for one specific reason: to make Cole Kane finally give up on Nina. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"So, she knows everything about what happened that night."
Cole Kane clenched his jaw, his fists so tight that the veins on the back of his hands bulged.
"Exactly. I told you so, but you wouldn’t believe me."
The words had barely left her mouth.
When Cole Kane suddenly grabbed her by the throat. "You orchestrated all this today just to make me hate her, didn’t you?"
Serena Kane felt the pressure on her throat slowly increasing. Her face turned red as she struggled to speak.
"Brother, I truly love you. I’m the only one who’s on your side."
"Everyone in the Kane family knows about their marriage now. Once they team up, there will be no place left for you in this family."
"Are you going to stand for that? We should destroy them now, while she still doesn’t know who really saved her!"
A vicious glint in his eyes, Cole Kane slowly released his grip.
"You’re right. We do have to destroy them..."
Cole Kane said with a dark look, "If I can’t have it, then neither can they!"
On the drive back to the villa, Nina Thorne’s eyelid wouldn’t stop twitching.
A strange sense of unease settled in her heart.
Once home, feeling unsettled, she decided to call Justin Kane.
The first call went unanswered.
On the second try, it rang for a long time.
Just as Nina Thorne thought it would go unanswered again, someone finally picked up.
"Sorry, my phone was on silent. I just saw it," Justin Kane’s voice was low, his breathing heavier than usual.
Nina Thorne breathed a sigh of relief. "It’s fine. It wasn’t important anyway."
"Miss me?"
Justin Kane teased, his voice warm.
Nina’s heart settled, and she laughed softly. "Yeah, I missed you. Try to come home early tonight after you’re done."
Suddenly, there was a faint rustling sound from the other end of the line.
It was almost like the sound a small animal would make.
"What was that noise?"
After a moment of silence, Justin Kane’s warm voice replied, "It’s nothing. I just knocked something over."
He paused. "I’ve got something on tonight, so I might be late. Go ahead and eat if you’re hungry; don’t wait up for me."
"Alright. Mr. Kane is a busy man, after all. I’ll just wait for you at home," Nina Thorne joked, though her agreement was genuine.
"Good."
Justin Kane’s voice was magnetic and doting, but his eyes were as sharp and cold as daggers as he glared at April Graham.
He had April Graham pinned against the wall, one hand clamped over her mouth.
Her hair was a mess, but her eyes were defiant.
The rustling sound from before had been her, struggling to speak.
Justin Kane heard the dial tone, then lowered his phone. He moved his hand from April Graham’s mouth to grip her cheek.
"Do you really think I won’t hurt you?"
Justin Kane’s face was a brewing storm, a vicious light erupting in his eyes.
April Graham’s body trembled.
But a moment later, she gave a seductive, triumphant laugh. "Of course, I know you would, Justin. You’ve always been so ruthless, haven’t you?"
"But it’s your own fault for letting me find out what you care about most, isn’t it?"
Ignoring the pain in her cheek, April Graham’s eyes shone with a fanatical obsession.
Justin Kane ground out a warning through clenched teeth, "I hate being threatened, April Graham."
April Graham stared back at him, her smile slowly fading into a look of resentment. "And I hate being betrayed!"
"Justin Kane, I won’t let you off the hook. If I’m going down, I’m taking everyone with me."
Justin Kane let go, shoving her away.
She fell to the floor, hair askew, but she quickly got to her feet, showing no sign of being flustered.
"I’ll be waiting for your good news, Justin."
With that, she turned and strode proudly out of the office.
After hanging up, Nina Thorne began to examine the disk.
The result made her furious.
There was absolutely nothing on it!
The disk was a fake.
Even if the files had been deleted, she could have recovered them. But this disk was completely blank!
A rare flash of anger crossed Nina Thorne’s usually placid face. She grabbed her phone, about to call Serena Kane.
Just then, a call came in from Serena herself.
"Serena Kane!"
Nina Thorne bit out, "You played me?"
Serena Kane let out a wild laugh. When she was done, she said smugly, "How does it feel? Not great, is it?"
"Nina Thorne, I hate your guts. Why would I ever let you off easy?"
"The more you care about something, the more I’ll enjoy making sure you can never have it, just so I can watch you suffer!"
After spitting out those vicious words, Serena Kane abruptly hung up.
A second later, she sent Nina a video.
It was footage from The Zenith Club, showing Justin Kane pulling April Graham back into the private room.
The way they were acting looked intimate and could easily be misinterpreted.
The infatuated way April Graham looked at Justin Kane, in particular, made it difficult to believe nothing was going on between them.
Serena Kane sent another text: "Isn’t it hilarious? Everyone you like ends up letting you down."
"Tell me, isn’t this just heaven’s punishment for you? Hahaha..."
So...
’Justin Kane was with April Graham this whole time, and he deliberately lied to me about it?’
At the thought, Nina Thorne’s throat went dry. Her knuckles turned white as she gripped her phone, and a suffocating feeling quickly enveloped her, as if she were being dragged down into an abyss...
