Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Wedding Dress

"No, Grandpa. I’ll kneel here until you forgive me," Cole Kane said remorsefully, his head bowed low.

His attitude seemed incredibly sincere, enough to move anyone.

But Master Thorne wasn’t buying it. "What are you all standing around for?" he boomed authoritatively. "Hurry up. I just finished eating, don’t make me vomit from anger."

During those five years, he simply hadn’t known Nina Thorne had endured so much because of him.

If he had known, he would have broken his legs long ago.

Nina Thorne: "..."

’This old rascal... the way he talks is so infuriating.’

Mr. Dawson stifled a laugh and quickly ordered the security guards to escort him out.

Cole Kane froze, staring dumbly at Master Thorne.

’How could this be?’

’He had already knelt in sincerity. What more did they want him to do?’

The security guards came in quickly, grabbed his arms, and began to drag him away.

"Grandpa, please listen to me! I truly came here to repent this time..."

"Grandpa, please give me a chance! I’ll never let Nina Thorne down again!" Cole Kane yelled, not giving up.

Master Thorne was unmoved, not even sparing him a glance.

"Nina Thorne, help me out, say something to calm Grandpa down..."

Cole Kane looked at Nina Thorne again, his eyes full of hope.

But Nina Thorne didn’t even give him a sideways glance, letting them drag him away and toss him out the door.

He was absolutely livid.

’She was actually serious!’

’She really wanted to leave him, and she was even marrying his brother!’

’After everything he’d done over the years, how could he let them get together so easily?’

Master Thorne burst out laughing happily, but his laughter was so intense that it turned into a coughing fit.

Nina Thorne quickly helped him over to the sofa to sit down. "Getting so worked up is bad for your health," she said helplessly. "You should try to control your emotions more in the future."

Master Thorne caught his breath, a satisfied smile on his face. "Grandpa is just so happy to see that you’re truly willing to let go of that boy."

"After how he treated me, if I still couldn’t let go, then I’d truly be beyond saving," Nina Thorne said with a self-deprecating smile.

Then she said coaxingly, "Alright, Grandpa, you get some rest. I’m leaving now."

As Nina Thorne was leaving, Master Thorne suddenly called out to her. "My dear girl, Justin Kane is a man worth entrusting yourself to. Grandpa believes your choice this time isn’t wrong."

Nina Thorne was taken aback, not expecting her grandfather to have so much faith in Justin Kane.

But at the same time, she felt a trace of reassurance in her heart.

The suspicions she’d had about Justin Kane instantly vanished without a trace.

’I should trust him, just like Grandpa does.’ She quickly gave a gentle nod. "I know, Grandpa."

As Nina Thorne drove out of the Thorne Family’s main gate, she saw Cole Kane standing in front of her car, blocking the way. His arms were spread wide in a posture that seemed ready to face death.

Nina Thorne’s expression was cold. She slammed her foot on the gas, really wanting to just run him over.

But at the last second, she still managed to slam on the brakes in time.

Cole Kane saw the speed of the car and couldn’t help but tremble in fear.

But when he saw Nina Thorne stop the car, he couldn’t help but feel a pleasant surprise.

When Nina Thorne got out of the car, he ran over excitedly. "I knew it! You still love me! You couldn’t bear to hurt me, right?"

Nina Thorne found this laughable, but she simply looked at him with a calm and cold expression.

The person before her felt like a stranger.

It even made her wonder if his body had been possessed.

"What are you trying to do now?"

Nina Thorne frowned slightly, her expression tinged with impatience.

Seeing his chance, Cole Kane said imploringly, "Nina Thorne, you can’t marry my older brother."

"We’re already married," Nina Thorne corrected.

"But he doesn’t love you at all!" Cole Kane said urgently. "We were together for so many years, do you think he won’t care about that?"

"I’m a man, I know how men think. Even if he married you, he’ll come to despise you in the future."

Nina Thorne had long guessed he would say something like this. "Even if he’s no good," she said resolutely, "I still wouldn’t want you."

She pulled open the car door, ready to get in.

"Do you know who he’s been meeting with these past two days?"

Cole Kane suddenly shouted, "He’s been with April Graham this whole time! He doesn’t love you at all! Nina Thorne, can’t you wake up?!"

Nina Thorne’s movements froze. Her gaze slid toward him. "What do you mean?"

Cole Kane sneered. "He and April Graham have always been a perfect match. If Justin Kane wasn’t trying to get the Thorne Family’s support, he wouldn’t have even given you a second glance."

"With April Graham in the picture, there’s no way you two can be happy together!"

Cole Kane spoke with absolute certainty, filled with righteous indignation.

"Are you really telling me you don’t mind everything that’s happened between them?"

"As for the so-called public banquet, Justin Kane is just stringing you along. He won’t publicly announce your relationship."

Nina Thorne’s heart trembled.

She remembered the perfume she had smelled on Justin Kane the past couple of days, and the video she had seen.

’Could it be... that there’s really something between them?’

But she quickly steadied herself and said coldly, "Are you done? Then you can get lost."

Nina Thorne decisively got into the car.

Cole Kane anxiously knocked on the car window a few times.

Nina Thorne lowered the window with the press of a button and heard Cole Kane say adamantly, "If you don’t believe me, just wait and see if he even shows up on the night of the banquet!"

"I wronged you in the past, but we were together for five years. I just want to see you happy."

Cole Kane was playing the sympathy card again. "No matter what, I hope you’ll be happy. I don’t want to see you get hurt."

"If you don’t believe what I’m saying, you can go back and ask him. See if he tells you the truth."

Nina Thorne watched him coolly for a moment before warning in a cold voice, "My business is none of your concern. Don’t come looking for me again, and especially don’t come to the Thorne Family!"

After speaking, she seemed to remember something else and turned her head to stare coldly into his eyes. "I know you were involved with Serena Kane destroying that disk. Before that, all the grudges between us were already settled.

If you have even a shred of conscience left, then tell me: who was it that really saved me back then?"

Cole Kane’s heart lurched, and he averted his gaze. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

Seeing he was still stubbornly unrepentant, Nina Thorne stepped on the gas and drove away.

She drove straight to the bridal shop to meet up with Justin Kane.

"Have you been waiting long?"

Nina Thorne walked into the first-floor reception area and approached Justin Kane.

He was sitting on a white leather sofa with his legs crossed, his posture lazy and casual, yet exuding an air of elegance.

The custom-tailored, dark-colored suit he wore perfectly accentuated his noble and aloof temperament.

"For Mrs. Kane, any wait is worth it."

Justin Kane immediately uncrossed his legs, stood up to greet her, and raised a hand to brush a stray strand of hair from her face.

It was a tender, doting gesture that made the onlookers burn with envy.

"Mr. Kane dotes on his wife so much, it’s making us all jealous."

A short-haired woman in a white casual suit, who carried herself with a capable and composed air, came over to greet them proactively and warmly.

"Mrs. Kane is truly beautiful and has such an air of elegance. You and Mr. Kane make a perfect couple."

Justin Kane made the introduction. "This is Sharon Ellison, an international high-end wedding dress designer."

"Hello," Nina Thorne replied with a smile, her demeanor gentle and poised.

"Mrs. Kane, why don’t I personally take you upstairs to have a look?" Sharon Ellison offered.

"Of course," Nina Thorne readily agreed.

Afterward, they went up to the third-floor wedding dress showroom together.

This was one of the top custom bridal shops in Sylport.

It had six full floors.

The first floor was dedicated to reception, and there were even two floors dedicated to photoshoots.

Sharon Ellison had won countless design awards. To even get an appointment with her for a single dress required booking far in advance.

A single dress could even cost as much as a million.

Nina Thorne was dazzled by the choices, but Justin Kane waited patiently by her side, not seeming the least bit bored.

Nina Thorne tilted her head to look at him. Thinking of what Cole Kane had said, she found it impossible to associate his words with the elegant and handsome man before her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Sensing her gaze, Justin Kane looked over with a slight smile.

Nina Thorne gave a half-smile. "I was just wondering if you’re going to suddenly back out the night after tomorrow and not go public with our marriage."

"Mrs. Kane has given me a chance. Am I the kind of man who wouldn’t know how to cherish it?" Justin Kane frowned, as if what she said was utterly preposterous.

Nina Thorne gave a wry smile.

’She really must be crazy to be swayed by Cole Kane’s words.’

’Cole Kane was petty and possessive. Even if he didn’t love her, he would still want to ruin her chances with anyone else.’

Even if that person wasn’t Justin Kane.

"I was just talking nonsense. Please don’t mind me, Mr. Kane."

Nina Thorne pulled out a wedding dress, her smile sweet and radiant. "How about this one?"

"It’s beautiful."

Justin Kane didn’t hold back his praise. "Mrs. Kane is beautiful and has a great figure. You’d look good in anything."

"Mr. Kane is absolutely right. Mrs. Kane, why don’t you try this one on?" Sharon Ellison suggested.

Today’s dress fitting was just for the wedding photos.

In fact, the dress for the actual wedding was one Justin Kane had personally designed five years ago.

It was now hanging in the display window on their third floor.

Even though it was designed five years ago, its style, design, and tailoring were all stunning.

Sharon Ellison clearly understood that only Nina Thorne was worthy of wearing that dress.

It was made exclusively for her.

Soon, Nina Thorne had tried on the wedding dress and was standing in the center of the fitting platform as the curtains on both sides were slowly drawn open.

Nina Thorne had fair skin and delicate features, with a bright and gentle beauty.

The light makeup, paired with the wedding dress, made her look graceful, moving, and utterly ethereal.

It seemed as if it were custom-made just for her, leaving everyone breathless.

"Beautiful."

Justin Kane’s gaze was fiery as he strode to her side, his pupils reflecting her stunning and captivating figure.

They stood together, looking at their reflections in the full-length mirror. Both were exceptionally good-looking with extraordinary temperaments, a perfect match standing side by side.

It would be no exaggeration to call them a match made in heaven.

Gasps of admiration came from all around.

From the shop assistants to the worldly-wise designer, Sharon Ellison, everyone was impressed.

"Nina Thorne, you are so beautiful." Justin Kane turned her around to face him, tightly grasping her hand and carefully pressing a kiss to it.

Somewhere in his heart, a fiery emotion was stirring, and the tenderness in the depths of his dark, profound eyes was undisguised.

Nina Thorne met his gaze, and her heart skipped a beat.

’It was as if he was madly in love with her, to look at her with such deep affection.’

"Then let’s take the photos in this one, okay?" Nina Thorne asked softly, her cheeks flushing.

Justin Kane’s dark eyes were filled with doting affection, as if he could never get enough of looking at her. "Okay."

Nina Thorne blushed under his gaze, lowering her eyes and pressing her lips together in a small smile as a sweet feeling flowed through her heart.

Since they were about to take the photos, an assistant led her away to have her makeup and hair done.

She first took off the wedding dress and changed back into her own clothes.

As she was heading downstairs, she realized she had forgotten her phone and turned back to get it.

But suddenly, she saw Justin Kane push a figure into a fitting room.

Vaguely, she seemed to recognize the person as April Graham.

Nina Thorne’s heart began to pound violently, and she walked uncontrollably toward the door.

A voice came from inside. "Justin, don’t tell me you like to do *that* in a place like this?"

April Graham let out a seductive laugh. "Nina Thorne is just downstairs getting her makeup done. Doing *it* in here... just thinking about it is so exciting..."

A sharp pain stabbed through Nina Thorne’s chest.

In an instant, she felt as if all the blood in her body had frozen, and her scalp tingled with numbness.
