Being Dumped by My EX, I Marriied His Older Brother-Chapter 78: Choose Him
-
After returning from the cemetery, Nina Thorne went straight to take a shower.
The cool slip dress clung to her body, outlining her graceful figure.
Her curves were all in the right places, a classic hourglass figure.
When Justin Kane entered the bedroom and saw her smoking hot body, his Adam’s apple bobbed a few times as he strode forward.
"Nina Thorne, dressing so provocatively... Is this some kind of hint?"
Justin Kane swept her into his arms with one hand and leaned in, his warm breath tickling her ear.
Nina Thorne did indeed have a bold idea.
Just as Macy Lynch had said, leaving a prime specimen like Justin Kane untouched would be a terrible waste.
She decided not to care if he liked someone else. Why not just give it a try and see what happens?
At that thought, Nina Thorne’s heart pounded. She boldly wrapped her arms around his neck.
Standing on her tiptoes, she pressed her red lips against his...
The moment her soft lips touched his, Justin Kane’s pupils dilated, and his eyes overflowed with tenderness.
"Nina Thorne,"
Justin Kane looked at her in pleasant surprise, his hands on her shoulders. "Do you know what you’re doing?"
Not daring to meet his searing gaze, Nina Thorne shyly looked down. "Just a kiss."
After saying that, she grew even more bashful.
A blush colored her cheeks. A stray lock of hair fell across her downcast face, and her curled eyelashes were like a row of crow’s feathers. Her quiet demeanor was utterly docile.
When she was bold, she was as radiant as a rose.
When she was meek, she was as pure as a lily.
Seeing her nervously clutching his hand, Justin Kane’s eyes held a doting smile. "You’re this scared, yet you’re still trying to accommodate me?"
Nina Thorne didn’t understand. She looked up at him. "Accommodate?"
"Isn’t it because I said married couples should do what married couples do, and that’s why you’re being so proactive today?" Justin Kane seemed to see right through her, voicing her innermost thoughts.
She froze for a few seconds. "Half and half, I guess."
"Hm?" Justin Kane’s dark eyes showed his confusion. "Half and half?"
He didn’t press his advantage, halting any further intimacy. His gentle eyes were patient as he continued to ask.
Nina Thorne’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. She looked at him with her clear, bright eyes. "We’re husband and wife. Kissing and hugging you is just standard procedure."
’At least, that’s what Macy Lynch said.’
In the past, she had believed Cole Kane, thinking that some things could only be done after marriage.
Like kissing, or sleeping together.
Justin Kane was pleasantly surprised by her bold words. "Is that what you really think?"
As he spoke, his gaze was scorching, fixed on her face like a flame that could melt her.
His eyes shifted from her face to her red lips, like a beast staring at its prey, as if he would pounce in the next second.
Nina Thorne’s back tensed. She suddenly lost her nerve. "I was speaking in hypotheticals..."
Justin Kane’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He lowered his head and captured her lips. "Nina Thorne, practice makes perfect."
This kiss was a forceful plunder of her lips and mouth.
Their breaths intertwined, and the temperature in the room instantly skyrocketed.
Nina Thorne’s mind went blank with a buzz, and her whole body flushed with heat.
Then, her body was suddenly lifted into the air.
Justin Kane swept her up with one strong arm and, in a few steps, reached the bed and laid her down.
Nina Thorne stared at the man before her, stunned.
His usually gentle eyes were now red with greed, like a starving wolf.
"Justin Kane,"
Nina Thorne clutched her clothes nervously, panic in her eyes. "I was just saying... Mmph..."
Before she could finish, his thin lips pressed against hers again, silencing her. The rest of her words were swallowed.
Their breaths mingled as they shared a dizzying kiss.
It felt as if her body wasn’t her own. It was so hot she felt like she was about to melt, yet his kiss was like a cool, timely rain, dousing her in a way that was comfortable and... enjoyable.
"Relax."
Justin Kane nibbled her earlobe, coaxing her softly.
His voice was magnetic and pleasant, bewitching her nerves. Nina Thorne’s body did indeed relax involuntarily.
His large hand landed on her pale leg.
Nina Thorne’s body trembled slightly.
The calluses on his palm grazed her skin, provoking a reaction that made her heart race with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation.
"Justin,"
Nina Thorne looked down at him. The man was propped up on his elbow beside her, partially pinning her down, his handsome face thick with desire.
Suddenly, the jarring ring of a cell phone broke the silence.
Justin Kane’s movements were interrupted. A dark look clouded his eyes. "Damn it..."
But he didn’t answer it.
He declined the call, ready to continue.
Nina Thorne regained a good deal of her senses. She took a few deep breaths and quickly pressed her hands against his chest.
Justin Kane frowned slightly, his voice hoarse. "What’s wrong?"
Before Nina Thorne could answer, the phone rang again. The caller seemed to be in a hurry, completely ruining the mood.
The next second, the weight on Nina Thorne lifted.
Justin Kane sat up and answered the phone, his bloodshot eyes filled with restrained irritation. "You’d better have a real emergency."
’Feeling the palpable anger, Assistant Cheney jumped. Why is the CEO so furious?’
He quickly said in a rush, "Sir, the Second Young Master probably saw you and Madam at the cemetery today."
Justin Kane narrowed his eyes. "Are you sure?"
"I’m sure. The driver said he saw the Second Young Master’s car, so I checked the dashcam footage. The camera did indeed capture his car parked nearby."
Just in case, Assistant Cheney also checked the surveillance cameras near the cemetery, and the results were the same.
He knew the CEO and Madam had a secret marriage, so he called to report it as soon as he found out.
Hearing this, the desire in Justin Kane’s eyes vanished completely. He ordered forcefully, "Keep it confidential."
His long fingers ended the call. Justin Kane’s gaze softened again. "You heard all that?"
She had.
The room was so quiet that even though the call wasn’t on speaker, the sound still leaked out.
Nina Thorne had heard everything clearly and nodded honestly. "Mhm, I heard."
Cole Kane must have gone to the cemetery because he couldn’t reach her by phone, deliberately going there to corner her.
’How ridiculous.’
In the past, whenever she begged Cole Kane to go with her, he always refused with some excuse.
This time, he showed up uninvited.
Justin Kane’s dark eyes narrowed slightly. He patted her head reassuringly. "Don’t worry, he won’t find anything out."
Nina Thorne snorted. "I’m not afraid even if he does find out."
’I’d rather they knew.’
However, thinking about Justin Kane’s position in the Kane Family and his relationship with Cole Kane, she didn’t want to put him in a difficult spot, so she said no more.
’Perhaps a secret marriage is the best solution for them right now.’
With his desire completely gone, Justin Kane had lost the mood.
Looking at Nina Thorne’s docile face, his thin lips curved into a slight smile. "Get some sleep. We can finish what we started today some other time."
After that, he patted her head again and said nothing more.
Nina Thorne blushed crimson again. She grabbed the blanket, pulled it over herself, and turned her back to him.
’Pervert!’
Justin Kane didn’t leave. He leaned in and pecked her on the cheek. "I’m going to the study to handle some things. If you want me to sleep with you, I can stay with you for a bit first."
Nina Thorne hurriedly said, "No need, you should go."
’If what just happened were to happen again, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.’
Then, she heard his low chuckle, and the weight on the bed behind her lifted.
A moment later, she heard the soft click of the door closing.
Only then did Nina Thorne look back. Confirming he was gone, she let out a long sigh of relief.
’But thinking back on that thrilling feeling... I kind of liked it.’
But the thought of Cole Kane seeing them at the cemetery made her worry again.
’Knowing Cole Kane’s personality, he’ll probably investigate this to the very end.’
’It’s hard to say what he’ll do then.’
Thinking about it now, her decision to marry Justin Kane out of spite was indeed too impulsive.
’I wonder if he regrets getting married.’
...
For several days in a row, Nina Thorne’s phone was flooded with calls from different unknown numbers.
She didn’t answer a single one.
She could guess they were all from Cole Kane.
One day, she was called into a meeting at her company, so she went.
During the meeting, Director Aldridge announced that the show would be released in three days and required the entire team to watch it on time.
He also told Nina Thorne that if viewership was high, they should ride the wave of popularity and launch a new script.
He went over a few other matters, and the meeting ended in less than an hour.
Seeing it was still early, Nina Thorne drove back to the old family home.
As soon as she walked in, the old butler greeted her with a warm smile. "Miss, you’re back. Master Thorne has been asking about you these past couple of days."
Leading Nina Thorne to the study door, the old butler said with a kind smile, "Go on in. The Master is inside."
"Thank you, Mr. Wood."
Nina Thorne knocked on the study door. A deep, resonant voice called from within, "Enter."
Nina Thorne pushed the door open and went inside.
She saw Master Thorne standing at his desk, head down, writing with a calligraphy brush.
He was a master calligrapher, his strokes powerful and crisp.
With nothing else to do in recent years, he would often practice his calligraphy.
"Look at this. Do you think my strokes are lacking in strength?"
Master Thorne paused his brush. Not realizing the visitor was Nina Thorne, he kept his head down, pondering a few of the characters.
He suddenly sighed. "A man has to admit when he’s getting old. These old bones can’t even write properly anymore."
"Nonsense."
Nina Thorne retorted, "Grandpa, you’re as hale and hearty as ever. Your calligraphy is still just as it was back then, with the air of a true master."
Master Thorne looked up in surprise. Seeing Nina Thorne, he burst out laughing.
"You girl, you finally decided to come see your old grandpa."
He came around the desk, and Nina Thorne dutifully helped him to the sofa before saying, "I’ve been busy dealing with the broken engagement. Did you miss me, Grandpa?"
"Does that even need to be said?"
Master Thorne smiled. "The engagement was broken off beautifully. I knew at a glance it was that Justin boy’s handiwork."
"That child is meticulous and cautious, far more reliable than that brainless Cole Kane."
Nina Thorne muttered, "’If he were so cautious, he wouldn’t have had a flash marriage with me.’"
Master Thorne glanced at her. "So, why do you think he married you?"
Nina Thorne recited his explanation, "To avoid being forced into marriage by Mr. Kane. A marriage for the sake of marriage, and I was the best choice."
Given the relationship between the Thorne and Kane families, they were indeed the most suitable match for a business alliance.
"You know," Master Thorne scoffed, "if that bastard Cole Kane hadn’t saved you back then, would you have ever liked him?"
Master Thorne had a deep impression of the life-saving incident.
Back then, the little girl had been overcome with grief after her mother’s death. That boy, Cole Kane, had saved her, giving her care and hope, which helped her gradually recover.
But who would have thought that boy would turn out to be so unreliable?
’If Justin Kane had been the one to save her back then, her personality wouldn’t have been worn down like this over the years.’
Thinking of this, Master Thorne’s heart ached for her, and he sighed repeatedly. "If you set aside the fact that Cole Kane saved you and compared him to Justin Kane, you’d choose Justin Kane eight times out of ten."
Nina Thorne didn’t respond, silently making the comparison in her mind.
’But then I remember how sharp-tongued Justin Kane used to be with me... I don’t think I would have liked him either.’
’Unless Justin Kane was the one who saved me back then.’
’Maybe that’s a possibility.’
"If Justin Kane had saved me, I probably would have chased after him," Nina Thorne hypothesized.
"That’s for sure."
Master Thorne smiled kindly a few times. "In any case, Grandpa believes that Justin Kane likes you and will definitely take good care of you."
"You know, if you showed him half the passion you showed Cole Kane, I bet he’d give his life for you."
Nina Thorne frowned slightly.
’Grandpa really is getting old if he thinks Justin Kane likes me that much.’
’It would be nice if he really did like me.’
’Justin Kane is certainly a good husband.’
’In terms of feelings, they’re starting from scratch.’
’I’ll just treat it as settling down with a rich, handsome man who, despite his occasional sharp tongue, is gentle.’
’Based on his wealth and looks alone, I’m not getting the short end of the stick.’
"Okay, okay, I’ll listen to you, Grandpa, alright?"
She didn’t say more on the matter and left after having lunch with her grandfather.
Her car had just pulled out of the old family home’s gate.
Suddenly, a black luxury car drove straight at her, cutting her off and forcing her to a stop.
Nina Thorne jumped in fright, slammed on the brakes, and looked up.
Instantly, through the windshield, she saw a tall, handsome figure get out of the opposite car and stride quickly toward her.
