Being Op With My Broken System: All Limits Have Errors-Chapter 142: Second day of the tournament
It was morning in a few hours and Balon City was bustling as people streamed towards the stadium to watch today’s match as the tournament continued.
People poured into the stadium through the multiple entrances and occupied the spectators’ stands. The students from Dragonic Magic Academy appeared one by one at their sitting area, they didn’t come together in a single bus like yesterday. The teachers and the vice dean were already present; everyone arrived in a matter of minutes.
Alex had come with his family, and they separated after entering the stadium together, and Alex went to join the rest of his Academy. Although it wasn’t his turn to participate, he still had to sit with them as an academy member.
Time slowly passed as more appeared in the stadium. At 8am, the tournament kicked off. The projection orbs hovered in the air above the stadium and the two referees from the Union appeared in the arena as well.
Without wasting time, the list for today’s matches appeared in the air and everyone’s eyes moved toward it.
Dragonic Magic Academy’s match was the seventh match today, and it was against Windmere Magic Academy, which was ranked 16th in the previous tournament.
The first match today was between Sacred Magic Academy and Crimson Tide Magic Academy, one of which was in first place in the previous tournament, while the other was in 9th place.
After some time, the list disappeared, and the names of the two academies were projected, and their students came to the arena.
Both teams stood opposite each other in silence, but everyone could feel the pressure that the students from Crimson Tide Magic Academy were facing as their opponents were a team of Core rank mages, with one of them having the space element.
"Begin!" One of the referees voiced out, signalling for the match to start.
The students from Crimson Tide flew into action right away, summoning their stars and launching spells at the four from Sacred City Magic Academy.
Four different spells shot toward them with powerful momentum but in the face of these attacks, the students from Sacred City Magic Academy remained indifferent.
One of them casually stepped forward and raised one of his hands. His eyes were glowing with silver white light as silver white stars appeared behind him and formed two star patterns.
"Space wall." He mumbled softly.
The space in front of him underwent a strange change for a split second before returning to normal, it was as if the space wriggled like a disturbed water surface.
Just in time for the spells from their opponents to arrive in front of him.
Bam!
The four spells crashed into an invisible wall in front of the boy and were unable to force their way through before disappearing.
The four from Crimson Tide watched this without a change in expression, they weren’t surprised since something similar had happened yesterday.
After blocking the spells, the space mage released the space wall and summoned his stars again. Another two star patterns formed behind him quickly.
"Space bullets!"
Hearing him call out the name of his spell, the two referees instantly moved and dashed in front of the four students from Crimson Tide.
One of them summoned a thick earth wall while the other one brought out an item that turned into a large circular translucent shield.
Just a second after the two of them got into positions, explosive sounds rang out as invincible space bullets crashed into the earth wall and golden shield like speeding trains.
BOOM!
The arms of the referee holding the golden shield trembled from the impact and his feet slid across the floor as he was pushed back a few steps. Although he felt numb in both arms, he had successfully blocked the space bullets from harming the two behind him.
As for the referee who had summoned an earth wall, the several-meter-thick earth wall had been blasted into countless rock pieces by the space bullets. Luckily, that was all and no one got hurt.
The referee immediately announced the end of the match while the name of the Sacred City Magic Academy was projected in the air.
The students from Crimson Tide Magic Academy stared in front of them with hollow eyes, not knowing how to react to their sudden loss; it hadn’t even been a minute since their match started, and they had already lost, to a single spell at that!
From where he was sitting, the side of Alex’s lips was slightly hooked up. As expected of the space element. Those referees were smart to have moved the time that they did; if they were a second late, then the fate of the four students behind them would have been tragic.
After all, the Space Bullets was a spell that could instantly pierce common rank magic beasts, mutated rank beasts, and even cause serious damage to some weaker transformed rank magic beasts.
If they were to hit these students who were only at the Adept mage rank, their weak bodies wouldn’t be able to withstand it.
It was another win for the Sacred City Magic Academy. The teams of both academies left the arena after that and the names of the next academies were projected.
This time, it was between Black Rose Magic Academy and Night Shade Magic Academy.
The students of the two academies came to the arena and the match soon started. The summoning mage from the Black Rose Magic Academy immediately used his summoning spell and summoned a magic beast to the arena.
The Adept spell of the summoning element allowed a mage to summon a magic beast to aid them in battle, but the thing was that they couldn’t control the type of magic beast that came out from the star pattern; the summon was random.
The last time, the mage had summoned a large tiger to the arena. This time, a rock snake that was over twenty meters long slithered out from the star pattern.
Brown coloured rock scales covering its body, several centimetres long fangs, and blood red eyes with pitch black vertical pupils, the snake had a menacing appearance that startled everyone after it appeared from the star pattern.
Even the two referees were shocked by the snake’s scary looks. Thankfully, it was still only a common rank magic beast and wouldn’t be difficult for them to handle if it got out of hand.
But the same was not so fit the students of the opposing team, especially since many of them had not gotten close contact experience with a magic beast before, not to mention one with such a menacing appearance.
Two of the students immediately freaked out after the snake looked at them with those menacing eyes and hissed, exposing its long fangs.
The other students of the Black Rose Magic Academy were also startled by the snake but quickly calmed down since it was being controlled by their teammate.
The match didn’t take longer than a minute with the presence of the snake; the students from Night Shade Magic Academy were unable to form a complete star pattern with the snake lunging at them and trying to bite their heads off.
They were barely managing to dodge the strikes of the snake when the rest of the team from Black Rose Magic Academy started to fire spells at them.
Not long after, one of them was hit by a spell while another was caught by the swipe to the snake’s large tail.
The body of the student was sent flying to the side recklessly but was caught by one of the referees before he could slam into the barrier that was around the arena.
With two out, it didn’t take long for the last two to get caught. It was another win for the Black Rose Magic Academy.
Cheers filled the stadium and the fight ended. The summoning mage ended his spell and the snake disappeared into white light fragments before leaving the arena with his team.
"They should have tried to take out the summoner first, then it would have been easier for them to fight the other team." Teacher Arnold clicked his tongue and said, dissatisfied with the match.
"It’s not so easy, they are kids after all and don’t have the same experience as you. Besides, the beast won’t just allow them to attack its summoner and there are his teammates too."
The vice dean explained with a small smile on her face before turning to look at Glen and the other three. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"If you meet any academy with a summoner, try to take out the summoner as fast as possible or at least prevent them from casting a spell, alright?"
"Yes, vice dean."
The four of them chorused.
Alex watched this through the corner of his eyes before moving his gaze away and focusing on the arena. The next academies had already come up and were about to start their match.
Time passed, and a few more academies fought before it was finally the turn of the Dragonic Magic Academy Vs Windmere Magic Academy, which was ranked 16th in the previous tournament.
